We had arrived at night and received a warm, courteous welcome from Harsh who was manning Reception. We were quite impressed with the elegantly decorated hotel/rooms.
I was given a room which had a view of the lake, on the 3rd floor and the other one of us on the 2nd floor (loved the cute 'elephant' door locks!). The rooftop dining area had a fantastic view of the lake and due to this, we had all meals at the hotel. We enjoyed a long conversation with the equally pleasant brother, Yash, while having dinner on our first night.
No complains with the location, service, cleanliness and food! And if I ever go back to Udaipur, there is no doubt as to where I would stay again.

We chose this Haveli on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews and prompt and helpful email correspondence with Yash, who runs the hotel with his brother Harsh. It turned out to be even better than we had hoped.
Our room (no 43) had plenty of room for the four of us - two adults and two children, 10 and 12 - and was simply, but comfortably and stylishly furnished with views over the lake. We even had our own huge roof terrace although it was generally too hot to sit out for long (no shade), and families with smaller children might not be comfortable with the low surrounding walls, the room being at the very top of the building...
The bathroom was fairly basic, but large, clean and with hot water - we were told to wait five minutes between showers, but didn't have any problems with the supply. We had aircon and a small fridge. WiFi was free, although we were unable to get a connection in our room - it was fine in reception and also in the restaurant.
Breakfast and evening meals at the rooftop restaurant were delicious and good value with huge portions, and the view was beautiful. Yash and Harsh were happy to recommend alternative places to eat (Ambrai across the bridge was good), and the Haveli is so well located in the Old City that it is easy to get around - it is less than a ten minute walk to the City Palace (unless you take a wrong turning as we did....) and virtually next door to the Bagore Haveli (don't miss the evening cultural concerts - very entertaining!)
Yash and Harsh were extremely helpful and friendly, and obviously know exactly what their guests want - the service was exemplary and the non-tipping policy ( money can be left in the box at reception for sharing out between the staff equally) makes for a more comfortable environment.
We really enjoyed our stay, and thought the Haveli was extremely good value for money. This was by far the cheapest hotel we stayed in, but one of our favourites. Highly recommended !

Room Tip: ask for a lake view

This place was fantastic. We were collected from the train station and the two guys running it (brothers I think) were both extremely friendly and helpful - advising on restaurants and arranging taxis, recommending the best ways to maximise our brief time (2 nights) - no demand was not attended to. The room was basic but clean, tidy, quiet and comfortable with hot water, air con and an amazing view across the lake. Great roof terrace restaurant with same panoramic views and good breakfast (didn't try evening meal). The location was perfect for exploring the old town of Udaipur, with the Royal Palace and Temple just a few minutes walk away. Definitely a gem within this price range.

Room Tip: 21 and 31 are corner rooms with great lake views.

We stayed @ the Jaiwana Haveli for three nights and we had one of the most enjoyable stays yet in India. The brothers running this wonderful Haveli are some of the most Customer focussed individuals I've ever met. I'll return to Udaipur and I most certainly will stay at the Jaiwana Haveli.

My friend and I stayed in the Jaiwana Haveli last Christmas and we loved it to pieces. Very nice place, beautiful views and fantastic, sympathetic and helpful staff. One of the best places on our trip in India. Very nice roof terrace and delicious food in the restaurant.

It has been a while since I have contributed to Tripadvisor as I now live and travel often in areas with limited Internet access. During a month-long vacation to India, however, I referred to Tripadvisor frequently and as I had such a pleasant stay at this hotel wanted to make it a point to contribute.

I stayed in a variety of hotel accommodations in India during the month of travel. Jaiwana Haveli definitely rated number one in terms of cleanliness. Although this hotel was likely not any newer than any others in which i had stayed, it has been carefully cleaned and maintained through the years - something which is evident the moment you walk in a room, see that the bedsheets have been properly cleaned, the bathrooms nicely scrubbed no dusty/dirty walls, ceilings and corners.

Aside from the cleanliness, the building itself is adorable, the rooms simple and white-wall fresh, with an amazing rooftop view from the restaurant.

The service was also remarkably efficient and appropriate. As a solo (and female) traveler on my week-end to Udaipur, and throughout much of my trip, I had a variety of service-related incidents - from the nonchalent/completely unhelpful attitude all the way to the way-too-overly helpful staff which, as a solo traveler, can also be a bit nerve-wracking. At Jaiwana Haveli however, the owners have well over a decade of hospitality experience and it shows in their ability to address customer needs and run a hotel the way one should be run (in my opinion, based on my standards, which are quite high given the amount of time I travel and spend in hotels).

Sometimes it can be one small item such as a grouchy reception man, a smelly bathroom, a gross stain on what purports to be a clean bedspread, that sets the stage for a disastrous stay. Similarly, consistent pleasant experiences such as a friendly voice when calling to reserve a room, and a warm confirmation email, walking in to a fresh smelling clean room, a nice pot of coffee in the morning at breakfast make an experience consistently positive.

There is a sign behind the reception stating something to the effect that they know you may find other hotels offering lower prices, but they know what they are worth. For hotels in this price range, you will likely not find a better stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a waterfront view

This hotel is very nice, the location is optimal and the staff really friendly. In addition, the restaurant on the roof does not only give a good view of Lake Pichola ... it is excellent!
