Rooms vary but one of our 2 rooms was excellent with big bed and large bathroom.
The restaurant serves good food-can take some times to arrive but worth the wait. Quite a walk to roof top restaurant but worth this too.
The staff were exceptionally helpful producing adapters and medicine when needed.
Clean hotel.

Firstly just wanted to say the staff were very helpful and friendly, the restaurant was great and the views spectacular. But the rooms had no atmosphere, just really plain, no hot water, no TV reception, view only half of the lake and it was extremely cold at night. The room to wait in when we arrived was fabulous with WiFi, huge TV and comfy beds. The laundry and tours were also extremely expensve. All in all, not sure what the fuss is about...

This is the second time I've stayed in Udaipur and I was significantly less impressed by the hotel this time. We thought we would stay at a 'nicer' place this time and booked into Jiawana Haveli as it was the top rated reasonably priced hotel.
When we arrived at 6:30am (after arriving from Jaipur on an O/N train we were given access to a sort of leisure room. It had a nice tv, wifi access and some lovely couches/beds to rest on until our rooms were ready. This was by far the highlight of our stay. And to be fair I have not experienced this sort of room while waiting for check-in. It was very nice.
Unfortunately it all went downhill from here. After walking up what seemed like a thousand steps (a pain after our last hotel in Udaipur had a lift) We were put in a corner room with a very nice view. Besides the view the room was awful. It was white from roof to floor. In Udaipur, which is very beautiful, it was strange to have such a bland room. Absolutely no decoration in sight. We were then told that this was not our room and that we had to go to the to the room next door. This room was just as bland but with a worse view. This was very disappointing.
The wifi throughout the stay worked sometimes, and when it did it was extremely slow and cut out frequently.
The laundry was extremely expensive. As well as this when I received my items they were not all clean.
Their taxi and your services were also way too expensive. We wanted to take a day trip and were quoted Rs 1950, we then walked out the door and found the exact same trip at two different agencies for Rs 1500.
My last complaints are related to the tv reception and the shower quality. Tv reception was awful, worse than analog, on a 'hd' tv. The hot water in the shower lasted 5 minutes at most. This was extremely annoying. As well as this, when you have a shower you have no choice but to also give the whole bathroom a shower.

Dear Guest,
Greetings and Good wishes!
We thank you for writing 4 reviews for the same visit.
It's disheartening to learn that despite our best efforts the PRICE remained your main concern.
The price comparison was drawn with a hotel reviewer stayed in two years back.

Our taxi services weren't used by you, no word was exchanged regarding Taxi type or comfort. We feel the comparison with Taxi prices elsewhere is unjustified.
Our entire hotel is white from roof to floor,we are happy to know that was well noticed.
Your travel companions mentioned 'beautifully laundered' in their review(for laundry service).
Our decor is minimalistic and all rooms are basic standard rooms.
All facilities are standard in nature too.

The Guests seemed to have a minor disagreement amongst themselves regarding who would take the corner room. We thought it should have been easily solved as they were a family traveling together. We tried our best to comfort them by giving a complimentary single room for the duration of stay but it seemed the comparison of prices played big on the minds.

We apologize for the inconvenience experienced.
We wish you a very happy New Year!
Warm Regards from all of us at the Jaiwana Haveli.

The initial impressions of the hotel were adequate, but as soon as we were in our room we realized that the 5th rating on Trip Advisor is far from accurate. Admittedly we arrived very early around 6am and were greeted very well. We were ushered into a large resting room to the side of the hotel. We were given WiFi access, a remote to a very large TV with HD cable channels, lovely sitting beds to relax and/or sleep on. Indeed this was a very nice greeting. Unfortunately we then had to leave to go to our room.  The reception then put us in the wrong room. This was awkward as we knew the guests in our correct room. They were moved to a room with a sub standard view and were understandably upset at this, while we got the corner room with a sublime view. We had three people in our room and the hotel did however offer us a small room instead of an extra bed in our existing room at no charge. This was outstanding service.
I am going to be picky here because the hotel has such a lofty rating on Trip Advisor and needs to be cast down to other ordinary hotel ratings. This is not a personal criticism to the staff as I thought the staff were generally fantastic, talkative, friendly and accommodating.
The room was a little on the small side and had no feel, cold and no atmosphere. It was as if there was no thought put into the room furnishings. It was less than a blank canvas at best. The beds were a little hard, our phone worked infrequently, the shower had no hot water, the TV reception was horrid and was placed flat against a wall in a corner, so unless I plastered my head against the wall like an inquisitive Labrador I couldn't see the TV front on. Also, the no room service for their restaurant was another freaky surprise. I reported the hot water issue and it was looked at two  days into our stay. We eventually had 5 min showers with the  water pressure of a soft mans handshake that made you fell as though you had been touched in all the wrong places. The TV reception issue was not looked at and I reported this twice. I would have reported this many more times if the phone had worked.
My advise is, if you're desperate, not a thinker, somewhat impulsive and just want a lake view, well don't think twice and go for it. But if bathing, TV and room service are your cup of tea, give this hotel a wide birth and look somewhere else. On the bright side, if your looking for an empty headed, impulsive money waster to hookup with, just lurk about in the lobby and you'll find a plethora of talent in no time at all.

Dear Guest,
We thank you for reviewing us on TA. It was a pleasure to have you with us.
We have read each of the 4 reviews that your family has written expressing their views for the same visit. We are really sorry that we were unable to provide satisfactory accommodation to suit your taste.Your humorously put across observations, concerns and advice are valuable to us.
We feel your comparison of prices marred your impression of an otherwise pleasant stay.
The price comparison here was done with a hotel where reviewing family stayed two years back.
The reception handed over the keys of both rooms to the Guests after having put the luggage in respective rooms. The corner room was taken by their family member who was not meant to be in it. Their discontentment mainly was due to the fact this member of the family didn't want to be shifted and the blame was on us to have allotted the rooms wrongly. The rooms were adjacent to each other.
The reviewer's mention of wrong room and correct room is for the same set of rooms that the family had reserved. They were unhappy at being left to choose which one of them should have the corner room. We feel that this lead to exaggerated criticism.

Nevertheless we apologize for the inconvenience.
Our high rating on TA is a testimony to our sincere dedication towards our Guests.
We are pleased to know that you found our team to be generally fantastic, friendly and accommodating.

We wish you a very happy New Year!
Warm Regards from all of us at Jaiwana Haveli
