I visited jaiwana haveli with my wife, to be frank i was sceptical about this but it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Property is well located in old city of udaipur excellent choice for those looking for a budget stay with luxurious experience.Owner is very helpful food and restaurant is very nice, though some rajasthani delicacies would have been nice. over all a wonderful stay and looking forward to stay again.

A small boutique hotel. We booked a long way ahead and got a standard room on 3rd floor with a view. The hotel will not guarantee anyone to get a view. The room was basic and you have to switch on a switch 10 minutes prior to get hot water which is an irritation to remember. The beds were soft and comfortable. Breakfast on the roof top terrace had great ambiance due to the view. No lift so don't go here if you have difficulty with stairs. The stairwell was a source of noise at night as the marble caused noise to bounce around. We were woken at 4.30am one morning with people yelling in the stair well. The bathroom was tiny so you had to have a very "careful" shower or the whole room got wet. Location is great as you can walk to the Palace, Temple and the traditional dancing entertainment held each night. The road is very steep, difficult for cars but OK for auto rickshaw.
We liked this hotel because the view was magic but if we missed out on a view it would not be worth it. I guess this is why the owners refuse to guarantee a view so everyone books in the hope of winning the lucky dip.
Also a minor detraction is you have to pay 50 Rupees for each bottle of water which is free at every other hotel.

Dear Guests,
Thanks for a kind and detailed review for us. We are happy to know of your satisfaction. We are not a boutique hotel, we are a family-run small hotel with basic standard accommodation. We do not aspire to entice/win guests with view from the rooms but with our dedication towards service. We work with a few infrastructural limitations but this does not change our undying attitude to serve and please our guests. We have free filtered water at the hotel. Mineral water bottles costs us and are charged for. We would love to be of service to you again.
Wish you happy times ahead!
Warm Regards from all of us at Jaiwana haveli.

We stayed there for 2 days and as we did our booking well in advance so we got corner lake view room and it was worth staying there.

All my queries were answered by Yash in very precise and unambiguous way. We reached there well before check in time and they accommodate us well in their waiting room. It was nice chatting now and then with good humored and friendly Harsh.

Everyone i met there were friendly and knew their job well. Food was good in restaurant and We found hotel clean and convenient. Rooms have all basic amenities but nothing more than that. So this hotel is not for people looking for luxurious accommodation.

Overall It was nice experience and i definitely recommend that place to all who wants to stay in a clean place with good food, friendly service and great view of lake.

Room Tip: Corner rooms e.g 21 and 31 have best view of lake as far as i understand

I stayed there 1st & 2nd Dec,2013 with my wife and 3 years old son. Room was excellent with all modern amenities. Bathroom was clean and very good. The roof top restaurant serves really mouth watering foods with a nice ambiance and superb view of lake pichola. I should mention the the owner brother duo, Yash and Harsh. They are rally helpful and friendly. In the first morning I missed to on the correct switch for hot water and complained at reception after 30 minutes as I am not getting hot water. Yash came to our room, pointed out my mistake. Up to this is normal for any hotel. Then he offered us another room which already have hot water in the bathroom as we ware getting late for sight seeing. That was awesome...!!!

Location lalghat have narrow lanes and it has hilly touch. So moving with a big car on that road is not very easy.

Only two negatives I would add which does not really nullify all the pluses of such a nice property.
1. One electrical switch was remaining on all the time and the light was glowing. The hotel stuff managed to off it and promised to repair it next day which he did not. I have not complained 2nd time. However kept in mind not to touch that switch again.
2. Bar menu was not available. On request I got peg of Blenders Pride. From the bill I came to know one 60 ml peg of Blenders pride cost Rs 450/-. I used to get 60 ml BP at many quality restaurants in Kolkata at 160 to 200 range.

The hotel staff starting with the owners excel in their service to customers. Rooms however are small (at least the one i stayed) and can be noisy if close to staircase, most may not have lake view either (they do not claim it has, however all pictures do show lake views!). Restaurant has excellent views, more importantly really good food served by well trained staff.
No lift, so those with difficulty climbing steep stairs, watch out.
Overall, a good experience, however, if you are seeking a 'true Udaipur lake view experience', this is not the place unless you get lucky and get a room with a view.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view! and stay away from those near the staircase

Dear Guests,
Thanks for reviewing us and appreciating our service. We apologize for the room not matching your expectations. You had a clear communication with us and it was conveyed before booking that the room is a standard room without lake-view. Our hotel is accessible by stairs only and there is no lift, is mentioned on all mediums. We have always reiterated this fact. Our terrace offers good view, we don't market ourselves as lake-view from all rooms, neither do we claim/promise the same. Imagination leads to disappointment at times. You have indeed been kind in highlighting the service and food. We would love to welcome you again.
Best wishes from all of us at Jaiwana haveli.

We spent two nights in this hotel. The hotel service was excellent and Harsh, one of two brothers who run the hotel, provided good advice for sightseeing in Udaipur. The rooms were very clean and the bathrooms were clean and functional. The price about US$50 per night plus breakfast was also reasonable. And, the location is excellent. We did not take any taxis other than from the train station and to the airport. We walked to the Jagdish Temple (the highest Hindu temple in north India with beautiful, excellent carvings) and we also walked to the magnificient City Palace, which is the key site here in Udaipur. The city boat ramp is also a short walk away and we took the boat to visit the cable car (ropeway) up a small mountain to a small Hindu temple and Muslim mosque, with fine views.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side (at least on the 2nd and 3rd floors) have excellent views of Lake Picholi.

I chose this hotel based on reviews on tripadvisor, and I can say that the reviews and ratings are absolutely spot on. I have nothing more to add to the reviews about the rooms/service/food etc, so I will stick to citing specific examples of what really delighted me
1) We checked out at 5 in the morning, as we had a train to catch at 6. Even at that hour, they had arranged a breakfast parcel for us, with some fruits, sandwiches, eggs and fruit juices.
2) We required the taxi for sightseeing only during the second half of the day; the first half is enough for sites like City palace, Jagdish Mandir, Fateh Prakash Palace, all of which are walking distance from the hotel. (less than 5 minutes of walk). Although one needs to book a taxi in the morning itself, to ensure availability, I had missed that out. They however arranged a taxi for us just an hour in advance (special thanks to Yash for that)
3) As auto-rickshaws could be a little unreliable early in the morning, Harsh offered to drop us to the railway station if that was required. That is truly going the extra mile in delighting your customer.

Can't pick one flaw, would definitely love to come back to Jaiwana.

Room Tip: Book in advance (at least 4-5 months) for a room on the lake side. Rooms on the upper floors offer a...
