Our Australian family stayed at the Jaiwana Haveli in the last week of December 2010. The service provided by Yash, Harsh (and mum) is absolutely world class. With a moments notice they can organise you a day trip to see beautiful Udaipur at very fair rates. It may be 11 at night - and Yash will make a phone call to organise whatever it is you need. Not sure what to do - just ask and you will receive recommendations suited to your travelling tastes.

Service aside, the accommodation is great - fully modern, clean amenities while the hotel still maintains a very traditional feel. The restaurant had stunning views and prices were fair. The location is ideal - there are lots of stores to explore in the vicinity and you're walking distance to the City Palace.

We selected this hotel after carefully reviewing the countless options in Udaipur. Based on the Tripadvisor ratings we decided to go here. I can comfortably say it went well beyond all expectations. Yash & Harsh are genuine hosts that will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. If I return to Udaipur (and I'm sure I will), I will definitely be staying here again.

Jaiwana was a awesome find for my husband and I. We were in the center of Udaipur and never needed a taxi or rickshaw except to go to the airport. We were even able to see our room from the lake cruise we took. The 2 brothers who are in charge will help you plan your time there no matter how long or short and they will give you unbiased advice on shops and entertainment. The food at the resto is really good too, and our room was newly renovated. We had hot water, flat screen tv and lovely amenities for a good price.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The rooftop restaurant has fantastic views and great food. When I made my reservation I asked for a specific room which was honored. Yash (one of the owners) was wonderful. Besides the beautiful view from the rooftop...it is within walking distance of the major sites.

The staff at the beautiful Jaiwana Haveli couldn't have been more helpful. They arranged a taxi to come to Bundi (several hours away), it was good value and stopped off at must see places en route. The food in the restaurant was delicious and, most importantly perhaps, the views over the lake were spectacular. The rooms were comfortable and well designed.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Jaiwana Haveli to anyone.

We had a great time in Udaipur thanks in part to the hospitality of Jaiwana Haveli. The two brothers were great and very helpful. The rooms were nice, clean the interiors of th hotel one of the best we came across our Rajasthan trip. Mind you you pay around $50/night. So do not expect service of Lake Palace hotel but it is definitley worth the price. The rooftop restaurant is amazing one could sit there for hours. I will definitely come here again and its a two thumbs up. Nice location in the old town.

The rooftop restaurant has excellent views of the lake palace day and night. Thats it, that is all this hotel has going for it. Unfortunately even though the view is great, the service at breakfast or dinner doesn’t match the view being patchy at best and poor at worst. Quality is ok, quantity just passable. Rooms are basic white painted walls, minimum furniture, cleanish but not really white bedclothes or towels, more a washed out grey colour. Maybe what could be termed good backpacker accommodation. The upper lake facing rooms would have a good view, but still be basic. The lower room face another hotel 5 metres across the street, rear and side facing rooms look over rooftops and somewhat rough adjacent properties. Reception is one sofa. It is in Udaipur centre though so everything is within easy reach, plenty of other eating options nearby including others with rooftop restaurants with the lake view.

Dear Guest/Reviewer,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are disappointed to learn that we could not make your stay a memorable one. If only you could have expressed during your stay of your discomfort, you would have seen how the Staff at ‘Jaiwana haveli’ could go out of their way to assist you.
Having read your remarks we would like to mention that all the other reviews are written by our esteemed guests like your kind self who are not necessarily backpackers but looking for clean, basic accommodation that’s value for money. This is what we endeavor to provide.

The above Reviewer/Guest booked their hotels/Itinerary through a South India based travel company. As seen from the other contributions of the reviewer they stayed at hotels at least twice or even three times the price of ‘Jaiwana haveli’ at other destinations in India. Of course the level of comfort they were expecting was high and may be more luxurious. They possibly booked JH thinking we offer super deluxe/luxury accommodation. Sometimes reviews could create that impression. We were by far the most inexpensive accommodation of their chosen hotels in India and also the most basic in comparison.
Sometimes travelers booking through an agent get a package deal which combines luxurious, deluxe and basic category hotels together for the entire itinerary. This means the degree of comfort would vary too.
Just to make the point clear, JH is a mid-range hotel offering basic, clean accommodation with Standard rooms on offer. We do not boast stars but promise you a value for money with a lot of heart and effort put into serving you.
Just a reminder to the reviewer that the standard room they had was INR 1990 per night inclusive of taxes. Their taste and profile required something three times the price.
Our humble take on the comments by the reviewer;
We did not promise the Guests or their Agent a Lake facing Room.
The Reception has enough seating / sofa’s to accommodate at least a 15-20 persons. ‘Reception is one Sofa’- We are still trying to figure out where that conclusion came from?
Meals : ‘Quality is ok quantity just passable’.
We are happy to learn that you found the Quality ok but ‘Quantity just passable’ is surprising to hear as this is the 1st remark of this nature we have heard in many years that too from a seasoned traveler. We promise you a better portion if given a second chance.
Best Wishes from all of us at Jaiwana haveli!!
