“Fantastic experience in Udaipur”
Reviewed 19 November 2011

Our stay in the Mahendra Prakesh in october 2012 was one of the best stays in any hotel in India. This hotel is rated as a 3 star hotel but with the cleaniness of the rooms, the excellent and sincere friendly staff and manager it could easily be rated among the few 5 stars in that area of the world. The WIFI connection was very good. Especially the clean pool was heaven in the heat of the day.

The choice of food and beverages is plentifull and the prices are really acceptable fot this kind of hotel. Although the city itself is quite a long drive from the airport the manager will arrange a pick-up or drop-off on request with a reliable cab driver.

We really recommend this hotel and would book it again if we were to return to India in future.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for one night and wish we could have stayed more. It was clean, peaceful and the staff was very helpful and kind. We loved relaxing by the pool after sightseeing. The restaurant was delicious. If you want an amazing stay in Udaipur, stay here!!

I stayed there for one night recently. I traveled with parents and family, our stay was good but I realized that many other good hotels are available on same rates. Mahendra Prakash is really good one, staff is good and interior gives real heritage hotel looks. My kids didn't enjoy much because there is nothing for kids and even swimming pool is not for kids. As far as value is concern, I requested to the owner to include Breakfast in my package cost but he didn't even bother to answer me. Location wise its very good. Overall I can recommend to others to use this property.

As a regulat business traveler from Australia to India, China and Europe I have the means to, and sometimes have to, stay at the major hotel chains such as Hilton, Sheraton
In Udaipur I always stay at Mahendra Prakash, without doubt one of the nicest hotels in India.
The staff are friendly without being obsequious and are genuinly interested in your health when they ask "How are you"
The rooms grouped around a central garden and swimming pool are well set out and clean and the water actually flows from the taps.
The location is excellent, just a short walk to the old city
Importantly for the modern traveller there is free wifi
Dont get me wrong, this is no Sheraton, but when I wake up I know I am in India, not some box with a thousand clones world wide
If you want a base where you can feel at home and wander around in barefeet,
and an atmosphere that encourages you to chat with fellow travellers, this place is for you

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room fronting onto the garden

What makes a terrific hotel for a traveller? Comfort? yes; good value? of course; a location near the centre of town? naturally. Kind, helpful and efficient staff? yes please. But let's have some more. What about a great swimming pool? and free Wifi? and lovely food nicely served at all hours in a pleasant dining room? What about a proprietor who really cares about the comfort of his guests? And what about being able to book to have a fabulous cookery lesson that forever changed the way we eat? Oh, and my wife loved it because we were right next to a branch of Soma, and we could walk to the centre of town in minutes, but the location itself was an oasis of calm.
The Mahendra Prakesh has all of this. Later on our trip we stayed at a Taj hotel in Jaipur as a treat. Sure it was more luxurious, but for our money the Mahendra Prakesh was a better all round experience. We're coming back next year.

This hotel offers everything a Traveller could ask for in this Royal city. It has a nice Royal feel to it, the staff make you feel like Royalty and the Location is close enough to all the Attractions of the city but is still a nice, quiet, green oasis in the heart of the city.
They have free Wi Fi in the lobby if required, the food is excellent and staff were just very good. It is clean and well kept and is total value for money as the rates are not exhorbhitant for all that it offers.
Though they have solar heaters which get switched on only in the mornings, we did get hot water when we landed there late at night after asking them to switch on the heaters. But obviously this took time, so that is the only thing I wish they change and offer hot water 24 hours.
Would definitely go back there again.

Room Tip: The Pool facing rooms or the groud floor rooms with their own Patio are great.
