Its a pretty big hotel with a lot of place to move around. Good swimming pool and neat rooms. Decently close to the market as well. Overall a nice experience. Would definitely visit again. There is a nice garden restaurant which has some cute turtles wandering accross. Truly relaxing and peaceful experience
We stayed at the Mahendra Prakash Hotel during Holi. We had a lovely time there. The staff were friendly and cheerful and on the colour throwing day there was a lovely atmosphere in the place, aided by the owner, covered in dye, bringing round free drinks for all!
Our room was lovely and the staff were always friendly and helpful and it was really good to have access to a swimming pool.
The Hotel is only a short walk away from the back entrance to the City Palace, which saves you walking through the narrow busy traffic filled streets to get to the front entrance.
Stayed here along with family on a leisure trip. Choose this hotel after reading a number of reviews from tripadvisor.com and was not at all disappointed. This is one heritage property converted hotel. It is very beautifully managed and clean. A lot of interior have the heritage look and feel. The hotel staff is extremely kind and helpful. The room were pretty big and well equipped. The bed linens were clean. Bathroom was fully equipped with amenities and had 24hrs hot and cold water available. We stayed on the 2rd floor room had a view of the UDAIPUR place right from our balcony. The hotel has a good restaurant and bar. The menu is not very exhaustive but it has multiple cuisines to cater to Indian and Non-Indian crowd. The hotel is also located very near to the Vintage Car Gallery in Udaipur and is opposite a garden. Over all for the price paid, the hotel is excellent and would surely provide a comfortable stay.
On our second visit to Udaipur, we followed our own advice and came back to the Mahendra Prakash. What was the same? The location of course. Much quieter than the other hotels here, but still easy walking distance of the shops and sights; and then the quite exceptionally kind, friendly and thoughtful staff – as mentioned by so many other reviewers.
So what was better? The food in the restaurant - already rather good last year, was really good. We went out to eat a couple of times to highly rated places and wished we'd stayed in. And this time we had time to take up the hotel's suggestion that they organise a walk for us in the countryside around Udaipur. Fascinating and with a great guide. The Wifi (free) is much improved. And super pleasant surprise: the bill. We'd forgotten how reasonable the hotel was. And that allowed us to do a further last minute shop before going home (The Soma shop is till next door) . We left saying to ourselves that this is a really good hotel that just gets better and better. It's a terrific achievement, and certainly the best base for a stay in Udaipur.
I along with my colleagues were travelling to Udaipur for our Regional review meeting and to save sometime out of boring schedule took couple of days off before meeting. Since families were accompanying us so we selected this property after lot of research and reading reviews. To be on safer side I paid whole amount way in advance for 4 superior rooms as discussed with Hotel authorities. But to my surprise no confirmation was made till last day of my travel & finally after repeated calls and inquiry our payment & rooms were confirmed.
We checked in early as was communicated to Hotel and rooms were yet to be furnished. No hassles ....we were escorted to garden by the pool where we relaxed while kids enjoyed.. It was indeed an amazingly well kept property. Nice garden, Morning Ragas & beautiful notes on Santoor by the pool side. We had a lovely refreshing Breakfast and finally came call for the rooms to check in. ....After we checked around among the rooms, it revealed that they were not of same standard. I raised the concern with Manager at reception and finally they allotted another room (better upgrade as per Hotel). Room was small but adjoining garden....so permissible. Then came the power cut .... Cell phones, Cameras were discharged & while we were struggling to get dressed in the dark, I made an inquiry at receptions for power backup. Answer was simple power cut from (11am to 1pm) not feasible to give power backup since most of the tourists leave hotel by this time for sight seeing....so adjust.
Nonetheless, staff was courteous they helped me charge batteries at reception,we were guided for sight seeing and a handy map was given. After a day long excursions to different sites we finally arrived in the evening. Had a nice candlelit dinner in the garden. Restaurant staff helped in boiling & sterilizing my toddlers bottles. They even took an exceptional call to serve dinner after 11pm without any tantrums....well appreciated gesture.
During our short stay kids enjoyed the most, had a ball running around in the lawn area, playing with turtles....To sum up nice place , good hospitality, good food...room for little improvement to communication part .
