We stayed at Mahendra Prakesh for two nights and had a really lovely stay. The staff are fun, really friendly and helpful, and the surroundings are very peaceful to sit and chill out in. The tortoises in the garden are also very cute and the ability to have a range of on site massages after a long journey here were very welcome.

I stayed here last week with my family. The hotel is set in a heritage haveli and is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere. there is a pool which we couldnt use as it was too cold and the lawns are wonderful to sit in the evenings. The buffet breakfast is the best with lots of food !! The owner Mr.Ajay was very helpful and advised us on a lot of things to do and see in Udaipur.
I can assure you that you wont be disappointed with your stay here. Also, its walking distance to the city palace and Jagdish temple.

The hotel is divided in the Deluxe rooms block, the Superior and Standard rooms block and the Dining section beside the pool. The rooms are very cozy and clean, though a bit small. Overall the hotel is very clean and tidy. The hotel offers very little view of the outside city, except for the Udaipur City Palace views from the rooftop rooms (amazing during the evenings when the palace lights up !). It’s Superior (few) and Deluxe rooms get the views of the Haveli’s lawns and pool. The view is beautiful. The atmosphere is very relaxing and peaceful. Hotel staff is very helpful.

This hotel is placed very close to Udaipur’s major tourist attractions such as The City Palace (500meters), Vintage Cars Museum (where one can also enjoy Rajasthani Thali food) and Garden Restaurant, Gulab Bagh, Jagdish Mandir (2-3 km), Ganghor and Lal Ghat (2-3km, must visit for the overall views during the evenings), Bagore Ki Haveli (2-3km), Hathi Pol market (4-5km). Given the cool weather we covered all these places walking and immersing ourselves in the colours of Udaipur. Saheliyon Ki Badi (garden), Karni Mata Mandir (and ropeway, good overall city views), Fateh Sagar Lake and Maharana Pratap Smarak (must visit for the overall views during daytime and the evenings) are little far and may be visited in a vehicle.

There is no room service (food & dining) in this hotel and all meals have to be taken in the dining room or the tables in the surrounding lawns. During winters this is fine in the mornings and afternoon but can be little irritating in the evenings when you’ve come after a long day city tour. We were also struck by the absence of proper doors and no heating systems in the Dining room. Having visited Udaipur in mid-Jan, when it gets quite chilly in the evenings and early mornings, dining was definitely not the best of the experiences, though the dining staff was very helpful and eager to help guests in all manners possible. Afternoon lunch on one of the lawn tables in highly recommended, so is a little late breakfast along-with live Santoor being played (hotel arranges Santoor musician by the pool during some of the mornings).

The hotel has car parking facility. Our car was safe and we felt happy that it was cleaned on daily basis (without any prior instructions by us on the same). We stayed in Superior room; Rooms 14 and 12 have best views (Superior rooms), we were lucky to stay in one of them. Overall a good experience.

Room Tip: Superior Rooms: 14 & 12 have good pool & lawn views Deluxe rooms: All rooms have pool & lawn views, the roof level rooms have additional City Palace views (splendid during evenings), though this would mean additional stairs !

It is very good hotel situated at prime location. The property is very neat & clean, beautiful and well maintained. It has very nice pool. There are chairs & tables in the the garden adjoining swimming pool where one can relax and can have breakfast or dinner. We arrived very early in morning and to our delight we were allowed to check in without any extra cost. The staff is extremely good, courteous & polite, always eager to help, plan your itinerary, travel requirements etc. Special thanks to Mr Kailash who was always smiling and ready to offer any assistance.
One advise to management, they should provide tea bags, milk pouches, sugar pouches on demand from guests. This allows guests to have tea/coffee in the room at odd hours when restaurant is closed. It does not cost much, however the hotel as a policy, provides the same only once on your arrival & does not replenishes for the entire duration of your stay
Anyway overall a lovely place & definately stay there once again

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms facing swimming pool are best

This hotel, popular with internationals and Indians alike, is a charming character house ("haveli") set in a protected compound with gardens. Lovely swimming pool. A peaceful retreat from the noisy road. The rooms very tastefully decorated and clean. Wifi was included in the price but breakfast for two was 450 Rp. extra. Breakfast is simple but taken in a lovely open-air room or if the weather permits at one of the lovely garden tables. Especial high point is the friendliness of the staff! You can tell this is a family run place!

We paid 3,750 Rp. for a "deluxe" room with breakfast (would have been 3,300 w/out bfast).
