Excellent position with views from roof top restaurant and our room (203) over Lake Pichola and within easy walking distance of City Palace and Jagadesi Temple. The hotel was clean with excellent staff and the owners Kamel and Harrish (forgive me if I have spelled his name wrong) were very helpful. Considering the hotel is within the old city we found it very quiet. There were no drawers, cupboards or wardrobes in the bedrooms but this did not distract from our opinion that this is a very good hotel representing excellent value.
The food in the restaurant was veg only but they could serve non veg brought in from another restaurant. The food and service were good.
One tip. whilst in Udaipur visit the Princess Gardens which are exceptionally beautiful and probably amongst the best in India.

I had booked this hotel after reading the reviews at Tripadvisor and was quite impressed. I must say this is an almost perfect budget hotel. Not much was promised but watever was promised was provided. The rates are very competitive. I had booked it online. The rooms are small but very clean. Infact it was so neat i thought that they must be doing a whitewash everyday. The room experience was less like a hotel and more like home. The room only has basic amenities but it is at par with what they charge for the room. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The view from certain rooms are breathtaking. One shud call up the hotel and book according to the view. The rooftop restaurant has an amazing view. It is absolutely unmissable even if one is not staying there. The food was also good and rates at par with other hotels in the vicinity. Overall a wonderful experience and i would definitely stay at Mewar Haveli again whenever i am visiting Udaipur.

Udaipur represented the final destination of our tour of Rajasthan and the Mewar Haveli was the 'budget' hotel chosen for us by the organiser of our trip, Indian Travel Consultants (New Delhi).
As we were spending 5 nights at this destination we were hoping for a good standard of accommodation and we were not disappointed.
The hotel's location is ideal in that it provides ready access to major attractions such as Lake Pichola, the City Palace, the Jagdish Mandir and the Bagore ki Haveli.
Upon arrival at Reception we were introduced to the relaxed and competent manner that pervades throughout the hotel. We found all staff extremely friendly and helpful and no request was too much for them.
Although the views from our bedroom were limited the room itself was comfortable and clean. Admittedly it would have made life easier if there were better facilities to hang clothes from rather than having to leave certain items in our luggage bags.
The usual hotel 'noises' were apparent, e.g. early risers and late incomers, but we have experienced such noise in 5 star hotels so no gripes here. Considering the location of the hotel one might have expected to suffer noise from the surrounding streets, but from our experience things quietened down after 23.00hrs and we enjoyed fitful sleep.
Views from the restaurant are stunning; whether it's watching the sun rise over the Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola at breakfast time or the sunset over surrounding hills at evening meal time.
There is no hesitation in recommending this delightful accommodation to others.

Well decorated rooms, terrific views from the restaurant, some of the better meals we had in Udaipur. The cheapest rooms (990) were small but good value. There is one large room with amazing views on two sides for 1620, also good value. And they booked (and canceled) some train tickets for us without a hitch. The only thing I didn't like was the constant upsell, we had booked a cheaper room and kept getting pushed toward the more expensive ones. Also, I asked about wi-fi in advance and was given the code for free, but I got the feeling that most people weren't told and that they preferred people to pay their internet cafe. Weird vibe with that. Otherwise very nice place.

I and my two friends were visiting Udaipur for the first time, since we were just girls we were a little skeptical of the stay, hence we googled a lot of places and planned on Mewar Haveli based on the reviews. Still there was a fear about the place, but that all ended the day we entered, we were received well, the service was nothing less than a 4 star hotel & also the room & facilities. The location was one of the best with most of the attractions & shopping places being at a walking distance. This was a treat for us since we had just 3 days in hand. With the facilities, comfort, location and service this hotel is a total value for money (it is not expensive at all).
I would recommend all to visit this hotel, its totally worth it :)

I had booked this hotel in December thinking it would be early enough to get lake view rooms. Not so, we booked 3 rooms, for 3 nights and only one had a lake view room and that only for 2 nights. The other had a very partial view, and the third, even though described as a deluxe suite was a very ordinary room, slightly larger than the others. However it looked onto the street and was very noisy. It should not have been the same price as the others. Besides that the it was a good hotel with good service. My advice - book at least 4months in advance if you want a lakeview room.
