“The best budget hotel!”
Reviewed 3 December 2010

After our visit to Delhi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, we visited Udaipur. This was my first time, no idea about the hotel and location. I booked this hotel through internet. When we arrived, it was in narrow alley and i was surprise when enter the door, how beautiful and clean the hotel. The staff management was also very helpful and fast service. The room is very clean, has wireless, and also has good spa. The view to the lake and taj hotel was excellent from the hotel roof top restaurant. The roof top restaurant was also very clean, provide great food also has window glass protected us from cold air from outside.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2010, the room was lovely and clean, and the staff were really helpful and friendly. It was also a great location in the centre nearby restaurants, shops and the palace jetty. Loved the rooftop bar, great views, and loved Udaipur!

This hotel in Haveli style is ideally located in the old part of Udaipur just one minute away from Lake Pichola. The rooms are nicely furnished in a modern way with relatively large bathrooms. All members of staff are exceptionally friendly. The hotel offers a small spa area as well (sauna, steam bath, fitness area and massage) and a very good roof top restaurant with a wonderful view over Lake Pichola and the city of Udaipur. Unfortunaltey we only stayed one night after we had moved out of another hotel in Udaipur which had been too loud; next time we will choose The Tiger right away.

I had stayed ther for 3 days during my 3rd anniversary.. They made it a most memorable experience for me.... Since they came to know abt it they had arranged a special Candle light dinner for me (complimentary).. The staff is very courteous and had a great time staying there... will surely recommend to stay there for sure...

We stayed here for 2 days. The food at the lake side restaurant was great. The experience itself was very nice. Rooms were also good with all basic things. Staff was knowledgeable and co-operative. I can stay here again.

We'd booked the Tiger after reading up reviews on tripadvisor. There were a couple of other hotels on my shortlist, but there was either no availability or they were out of budget. So Tiger it was, and i don't regret that choice one bit.
Getting to the hotel:
This can be a bit of bother esp. if you're in your own car. Udaipur core city isn't made for 4-wheeler traffic and lanes are quite narrow. Another drawback of the location of the hotel is that it doesn't have a secure parking. You park near the Bagore Haveli if there's space or else the hotel staff will guide you to another place a little far away.
That said, the location couldn't be better. you're practically on the lake, and just a stone's throw away from the 2 main attractions- the Jagdish Mandir and the City Palace; and from the market area. Anywhere else you gotta' go, you can hire a rickshaw. It's usually INR 50 to go anywhere.
The Hotel:
Nice Ambience. the whole tigery theme quite appealed to me. You do have to climb all 4 floors to your room and the rooftop restaurant, because there's no lift.
In the rooms:
We had booked 2 rooms- one had a bathtub, the other didn't. One had an LCD tv the other had a normal CRT tv. so I figure every room has some plus, some minus. So if you're booking, it'd be a good idea to request for a room that has what you want. Oh, and they have just 1 lake view room, so you'll be lucky if you get that. Other room walls open out into an adjacent building wall. The rooms are nice and clean, average sized, with a comfortable bed. There seem to be mirrors just about everywhere- which gave a nice feeling to the room, along with vintage Bollywood posters.
The people who man the hotel:
This was the best part. The staff is very friendly, but not at all intrusive. The will help you out in any way they can. Service is prompt. One thing i found funny was there's just one waiter who handles both the restaurant and room service. I wonder what the level of service is when the hotel is full. And he's so stuck up on English, almost to the point of denying his Indian origin.
Food:
Not all that great. There isn't much of variety on the menu. We had a B&B deal but most of the b'fast options had something to do with an egg. besides which there was just aloo paratha and cornflakes. And there's no tandoori food, so we found a nice restaurant at Pichola Hotel right next door which had a good variety and great food.

To sum up,
I did like the hotel, I'm sure there are other hotels in a similar budget and equal or better location, but if you choose to stay here, I'm sure you'll not be disappointed.

This is a very very good hotel, very good location, very clean, nice staff and an amazing view from the rooftop terrace / restaurant.

We arrived at 7am from a night train and they gave us our room right away at no extra cost, lots of hotels would make you wait until the official check in time of midday but not here. They gave us our room and breakfast straight away.

The staff were very very helpful, one morning as we were having breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace we asked if they had peanut butter and they ran all the way downstairs, across the road to a cafe and got us some.

There was free interenet access in the lobby.

It´s a very very clean hotel, both the rooms and the general hotel.

The staff were very helpful, giving us a free bottle of water with our room key as we came in one hot afternoon. In india you are always buying bottled wated so when the hotel starts giving you bottles as you check in it´s a nice gesture showing that they care and want to help.
