We stayed for two nights here. Beautiful, haveli with traditional rooms. Solar hot shower really works! Great rooftop restaurant... One of the best muesli fruits curds. Staff are friendly. And starting at rs.500 all inc.

1. No air conditioner working in A/C room
2. No adequate hand shower facility for toiletries.
3. Over phone, we were offered rooms of 800,1200 and 1700 but later when we reached,we were told that 800 rooms dont have air conditioners...and only 1500 rs rooms are available (Above the person hasnt given 1500 rs option) And this they havent shared at all over phone, anyways when we headed to room, we were given 3rd floor, which was again a task to go in evening after a tiring day, as stairs are not of the normal heights.Even then when above facilities were not there, I had to ask them, and they said, we are going to charge you 1200 only.
What the hell ????
Next morning, we had to face chilled water in bathroom, as there was no HOT WATER and when we asked, we were just given assurance that we will just see to it, which was never noticed again !!

4. Major disaster is there is no phone in the room, If you need anything, ??
5. Drinking WATER, you have to go yourself in Cafetaria and buy or ask them to deliver in the room or bring yourself in the room.

Overall, Its a big NO NO after this experience !! Dont waste your money, you will repent on it !
BUT YES !!!! For the shop which is named as Ashoka Arts on ground floor, they have good collection of antiques and handbags !!:))

We have been frequent visitors to this place. It a small property very close to the palace, museum and adjacent to the Pichola lakefront. Although the central area has been retained, the rooms have been refurbished. So don't expect the typical Haveli room!
While the big A/C room.Very beautifully done interiors and clean sheets and bathroom as well.
The rooftop restaurant has a view of the lake, as do half the roof tops in Udaipur. The food is good and priced reasonably.
The manager though is not too accommodating to requests. Desist from using them for travel arrangements also.
The art shop within the premises has a good collection and they conduct mehndi and painting lessons also!
Do go for the folk dance show at the museum close by in the evening.

Room Tip: The big room is really spacious and can house 4 people. Apart from the king size cot, they have 2 wi...

Greeted by receptionist at 6am, could not be more helpful at finding a room we could afford.
We settled on an ensuite room, with friezes on the lower walls reminiscent of a palace we visited in Baroda. The walls and ceiling were also painted with scrolls. the 2 alcoves were just a charming place to sit and read.
The restaurant served the best food and more than adequate portions.
The Staff were always friendly and helpful.
the shops in the foyer are very arty and good value
I would recommend this hotel to my mother, if she was still around.

Room Tip: rooms 203 to 206 remarkable

Having arrived at the front door one evening after an all day traintrip (17 hours). Travelling with an 11 year old Lonely Planet and having stayed in so many places across India, I was literally blown away when I walked through the entrance into The Gangaur Palace Hotel - It was in the Budget section, so of course my hopes were not pinned high. I secured a room on the first floor in one of the original rooms that had once been a Royal Haveli - The original Hunting scenes and processions of the Maharajah in excellent condition on the walls. Clean, friendly, Hot water and WIFI - along with a great restaurant & Bakery. The location of this Haveli is perfect to discover all Udaipur. It ranks as my TOP TWO in India

Room Tip: Personally I prefer the older rooms cooler and spacious - though the new ones are bright with Panora...

Location is great, right in the heart of the Old City and two minutes walk from the ghats on the edge of the lake. Clean comfortable room with a delightful window seat and beautifully painted ceiling. The building itself is an old palace and contains an important temple, as well as a great little cafe downstairs where the coffee is not bad at al, and a rooftop restaurant with lovely views and delicious food. I'd suggest taking a towel and a toilet roll, although they will provide these if you ask... and its a Western loo by the way. Great art class on offer in the reception area. Pushkar's cafe is just down the lane, turn left exiting Cafe Namaste and it's on your right, where you can sip on a cold beer and watch life unfolding below you in a narrow street, and an excellent leather goods store directly opposite the entrance to Cafe Namaste.

Room Tip: Narrow steep stairs lead to the upper rooms.

Very nice old haveli, and the rooms had original paintings. It was like staying in some museum room, nice atmosphere. Bed was good to sleep too, and price good for 2 persons. I would go here again. Recommended!

Downstairs has a nice coffee place Cafe Namaste (with free wi-fi) and upstairs has a restaurant (on roof).

Room Tip: Stay here if you like a old style atmosphere!
