Hotel Gangaur Palace is total value for money. Located in the heart of the city, and the major attractions in Udaipur like the City Palace, the Lake Palace, the Hanuman Ghat, local city shops everything is close by. The support staff are incredible and always ready to help. I will never forget the homely welcome and the hospitality provided on arrival. The rooms are awesome, with big windows artistically designed however the attached bathroom needs a bit of proper drainage. For women travelers it is a safe option. The French Cafe run by the hotel is super good and Loved the French Toast (nice, soft and yummy) served there. The roof top restaurant is a good place serving varieties of cuisines however disappointing is the view of lake being obstructed by new constructions around the place. Overall good experience and a decent place to stay. The best part is the location as it is only few steps away from the lake. It is 100% Recommended :)

Great spot for a stay in India's Venice. Close to shops, cafe and restaurant on site, big AC rooms, lake views from some rooms. On Gangaur Ghat are which is the main strip in tourist town so everything is close. 5 mins walk to the palace and gardens (where lake boat rides depart). Would definitely recommend.

As last stop on our trip around Rajasthan, this proved to be a real find. The atmosphere was increadible, and the waiter in the roof top restaurant was the friendliest and happiest I've have come across in my 3 months in India. We payed only 500 rs for a room with lake view, balcony and seperate toilet and bathroom. The rooms were clean and I will come back next time i am in Udaipur.

The place as a whole is cute with an artsy cafe and store, the building is great, the location is nice, and the staff are very kind. BUT the (very basic) room was truly dirty by comparison to other similar-rate hotels in India, and the toilet was absolutely filthy. The bed sheet and pillow cases (gross and stained but I'll assume laundered...) were about the only thing that was prepared fresh prior to us arriving--the bathroom was definitely not cleaned at all, and the room was dusty and dirty all over and even had pigeon feathers around. The restaurant is okay, with a new construction blocking most of the charmingg river view you see in old pictures. Would definitely look for a better place for that price.

1. No air conditioner working in A/C room
2. No adequate hand shower facility for toiletries.
3. Over phone, we were offered rooms of 800,1200 and 1700 but later when we reached,we were told that 800 rooms dont have air conditioners...and only 1500 rs rooms are available (Above the person hasnt given 1500 rs option) And this they havent shared at all over phone, anyways when we headed to room, we were given 3rd floor, which was again a task to go in evening after a tiring day, as stairs are not of the normal heights.Even then when above facilities were not there, I had to ask them, and they said, we are going to charge you 1200 only.
What the hell ????
Next morning, we had to face chilled water in bathroom, as there was no HOT WATER and when we asked, we were just given assurance that we will just see to it, which was never noticed again !!

4. Major disaster is there is no phone in the room, If you need anything, ??
5. Drinking WATER, you have to go yourself in Cafetaria and buy or ask them to deliver in the room or bring yourself in the room.

Overall, Its a big NO NO after this experience !! Dont waste your money, you will repent on it !
BUT YES !!!! For the shop which is named as Ashoka Arts on ground floor, they have good collection of antiques and handbags !!:))

We have been frequent visitors to this place. It a small property very close to the palace, museum and adjacent to the Pichola lakefront. Although the central area has been retained, the rooms have been refurbished. So don't expect the typical Haveli room!
While the big A/C room.Very beautifully done interiors and clean sheets and bathroom as well.
The rooftop restaurant has a view of the lake, as do half the roof tops in Udaipur. The food is good and priced reasonably.
The manager though is not too accommodating to requests. Desist from using them for travel arrangements also.
The art shop within the premises has a good collection and they conduct mehndi and painting lessons also!
Do go for the folk dance show at the museum close by in the evening.

Room Tip: The big room is really spacious and can house 4 people. Apart from the king size cot, they have 2 wi...
