“Udaipur - very charming”
Reviewed 12 June 2011

A nice little town. Most romantic around the lake. The citadel is also worth visiting. The market is OK. An early morning walk starting around the lake is eye opening and enjoyable. Not much else to see.
Consequently, settling in into one of the top hotels aground and on te lake is your best bet.

“Udaipur-The Land of Rajputs”
Reviewed 29 March 2011

For anyone looking out to experience the true Rajputana glamour and grandeur, Udaipur is a must visit location. The land of lakes and princely castles, Udaipur is also an ideal romantic getaway.
Our initial estimate that 2 days would suffice to have a complete round of the city was quickly put to rest when we recognized the huge variety the place offers. It took us a full 7 days to satiate our eyes to fully see what Udaipur had in store for us (including its neighbourhoods). From lakes to hill sides to the grand palaces to numerous eye-catching gardens to the world renowned temples to the places like Haldi-Ghati (site of Mughal - Rajput war), Udaipur is a kaleidoscope of beauty and rich history.
There are a plethora of choices to be made among the many hotels suiting all pockets. But the stay at Lake Palace Hotel (in the mid of lake pichola) is a once in a lifetime experience.
Apart from the main city, interesting places in the vicinity of Udaipur are Mount Abu, Chittorgarh, Ranakpur, Srinathji, Eklingji and Raisamand. Udaipur can be visited year round, with winters offering the best weather.
Udaipur is an archetypical Indian city, dotted with culture and colours. It is as ancient as it is modern. It is the essence of what Rajasthan is all about. A visit to this place is highly recommended.
