“Nice trip to an ancient temple”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

Supposed to be over 1200 years old. Considered to be the "unofficial" seventh "fort" of the Hindu God Muruga, the son of Shiva and Parvati. This place is located on top of the marudamalai hill in Coimbatore. This is the "end" of coimbatore on the marudamalai road. A taxi (Call taxi like +91-422-60603030) will take you there in about 40 minutes from downtown. PAy Rupees 20 at the entrance and the car can drive all the way to the top. There, you have to climb ( I believe about 108 steps). I went in the evening in August on a day when there are NO festivals and there was no crowd. After a pleasant climb, i purchased a "Special view" ticket for Rs 25 and quickly went into the sanctum sanctorum. The idol of Murugan is decorated beautifully. Outside there was a golden chariot procession and it was beautifully decorated. If you had the time, you can sit on the benches and look at the city from the top of the hill.

“awesome view of the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

the temple itself is nothing much to write about for those interested in arcitectural beauty. the temple is on top of a hill and has a fantastic view of the coinbatore city. Visit on a clear day to enjoy the view. disliked the concept of paid entry and seperate queue for VIPs, overly commercialized.

“MURUGAN ON THE TOP OF A COOL HILL”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Marudamalai temple is a religious place a visitor should visit during his/her stay at Coimbatore. Situated at 8 kms from Coimbatore City, this temple is situated in the Middle of the panoramic Marudamalai Temple. Best time to visit is in the mornings. The temple is open from early mornings and there is ample space for parking of two and four wheelers. One can really enjoy this place for a religious visit as well as a visit to the nature
