“Alex "Wonderful Trip"”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

I reached the resort with my family at 11 am late night. The staffs has welcomed us very well and they had already arranged us a very good and hot dinner in our room itself. When i woke up from my bed in the early morning - I saw a very beautiful sunrise in the middle of the mist - It is very catchy while i went out from cottage for a short walk, I enjoyed the mountain view, trees, different flowers, different birds sound...I am very much impressed a the symphony music - is played in and around the resort.Afternoon we had a good lunch with chicken chettinad curry which is very good in taste. The resort is very beautiful to see when it is decorated with charming lights in the night and the temperature of ooty has touched me a lot and i had a very good peaceful and relaxed sleep. should be enjoyed by everyone at sabol holiday resort....bye

Room Tip: South east corner.(Mountain View) North East corner (Greenery view) Resort opp side long trees

We were forcibly made to stay in this resort since we had already booked and the total amount was paid.First of all it is located very far away from the city and it is dangerous to travel to the resort after 6pm and the very entrance of the resort is shabby, the quality of the food is very bad and they do not have a proper cook.On their whole menu which contains a number of dishes only 10 percent of it was available, since it was far away from the city we had to depend on their worst food preparation. We do not recomend anybody anytime to this resort and please do not get carried away by the pictures put on the internet. Two or three members of the staff were available who were very good.

We have enjoyed the stay in Sabol. This was my 4th or 5th visit to Ooty. Great place to stay.

I was staying in a cottage at second level. Rooms are spacious and clean.

View of sunrise from the cottage is awesome.

Staffs were professional and helpful at any point of time.

Room Tip: Prefer a cottage in 2nd or 3rd level. You can have the beautiful view of Sunrise.

Poorest Housekeeping. single towel for 2 person + 2 days, No soap & shampoo. despite of calling n times.
Dirty water in bathroom.
Pathetic complimentary breakfast.
Whatever information their travel guide had given, all were useless.

We are sad to see this review and the next review posted by the same group with the review title “TERRIFIC STAY” AND “NEVER VISIT THIS HOTEL”. We sincerely feel that we should not regret because this particular group which had stayed in our resort was unfortunately a very indecent one. They were mostly unruly in their behavior from the first day itself and became more unmanageable in the second and third day. If their review has to believe even to some extent they would not have had all their meals in our resort wherein there were various other options to have their food outside instead of our resort during their stay. The fact remains that even their own food bills was not paid by them completely.

Their own review itself says and accepts that at one point of time we had asked them to vacate the resort and also offered to refund their second days room night bills collected in advance because of the chaos created by them in an inebriated condition which went to an extent of disturbing the other fellow guests who were enjoying their holidays peacefully. Inspite of explaining to them many times and also by proving to them that none of our staffs had consumed their carried liquor they were not in a position to lend an ear to it. They were also told that the housekeeping staffs (female staffs) are working in our system for more than 3 years and we have never come across or faced such a complaint / situation. Please be informed that we have got enough proofs of their misbehavior and misconduct.

We have also requested trip advisor to scan these types of wrong intentional reviews with an ulterior motive before posting it on their website because such unfair and negative feedbacks are bound to spoil the reputation of the organization which was built by years of hardwork.

Right from Childhood one has heard about Ooty and Kodaikanal as important hill stations and tourists destinations of South.
We got the opportunity to drive to Bangalore to Ooty and back from 21st to 23rd March 2014.
Must say the moment we were out of the city limits of Bengaluru it was worth it all the way.
From Mysore to Ooty was a pleasure as we crossed both Bandipur and Madumail in between 5pm to 6 pm in the evening, it was getting cooler and we got a glimpse of some wild animals namely Elephant herd, Chitals, Sambar, Wild Boar, wild buffaloes, & Deer. It is always a pleasure to see the animals in their natural habitat roaming freely without any manual intervention or control. To protect the animals both sanctuaries have built speed breakers to ensure that there is mad rush to speed within the sanctuary limits.
We were also told that around 6 – 6:30 pm the gates of the sanctuary are closed so we made sure that we crossed the area well in time.
One encounters around 36 hair pin bends while climbing the 29 kms distance from Madumalai side.
We made our reservations at Sabol Holiday Resorts. This is slightly away from the market rush and is set to capture the serene beauty of the country side. The cottages are both two bed room and single bed room and we stayed at a Cottage named Nightingale. Every cottage was named after one bird or the other and there was a story about the bird. Our cottage had large bed rooms with a living room and kitchen. Since the cottage was east facing we got to see the early rays of sun in the living room. The food and breakfast was excellent, the only thing to remember is spell out your requirement and give the staff sufficient time to prepare the meals for you. They have both season and non-season rates and you can get an accommodation suiting your specific requirement. The resort also offers badminton, table tennis and cycling as an activity.
While in Ooty getting up early and enjoying the cool morning breeze is a must at the same time listening to the chirping of the birds is enchanting. On the same length if you do not take out time to go on a train ride from Ooty to Conoor it would be a waste. If you are a nature lover the train ride enables you to see the amazing plantations through out the route. The only catch is the train ride is available at two time slots from Ooty station at 09:15am and 12:15 pm, the tickets are issued 45 minutes prior to departure of train and normally it gets crowded to buy a ticket as well as getting into the train, my advise is be there well in time.
At Conoor there are package tours available to show you the nearby places however we chose to go to SIMS garden to enjoy a bit of boating and also to learn about various trees and plants, a similar experience awaits you at the botanical garden at ooty. If you are specific about meals at Conoor Taj Gateway is an ideal place.
At Ooty visit to Doddabetta peak the highest point at Ooty is a must, to view the city scene as well as see through the telescope the moment on the city roads. Lot of movie shootings have happened at this point.
While going to Doddabetta or coming back a visit to Tea Factory is a must to understand how tea leaves are prepared and packed. This place is amazing and they let you have a look at the entire process right from leaf stage to packing of tea leaves. They also give you a taste of amazing Nilgiri tea. The tea leaf looks similar to a Neem Tree leaf and fragrance is also similar to a Neem leaf, as we proceed further and the leaf undergoes the mechanical process one gets a Henna fragrance and finally tea dust. The process is simple and easy to understand. While coming down from the factory you can buy tea, and at the same time buy various medicinal oils like Eucalyptus and so on.
Everyone has different interest in visiting a place Ooty is also famous for hand made chocolates and one can buy them at various points at the same time one gets a good off season deal on woolen garments.
So what stopping you plan a short vacation to Ooty the queen of hills.

Room Tip: Choose the cottages facing the valley. As it gets cooler in the mornings and late evenings prepare y...

We recently stayed at this place on our visit to Ooty.
This place is a little out of Ooty town, fairly well built and faces the valley. We stayed at the Albatross villa which has 3 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and a terrace balcony. Rooms are well appointed, decent in size. We initially faced some issues with the water supply and tv. However once they were sorted out the stay was pleasant.

It was one of the memorable experience for my family. The location was superb and you can see the natural beauty from your balcony especially during sunrise. It is 14 kms from Ooty city. I reached the resort in the midnight but the team assisted me very well. Kids playing area was good and well maintained. Breakfast menu can be improved as it does not align with the other high standards set by this resort. Response time for room service is also one of the area where improvement is required.
