“Not recommended on a cloudy day.”
Review of Doddabetta Peak

Doddabetta Peak

First of all, it takes 45-60 mins from the city to visit and the road is not good after you enter the forest area. After reaching the location, its a walk to the top which may be tiring for old people. There on, you'll beat the peak. Ubfortunately, the telescope there was closed when I visited due to clouds. Visit this only if you plenty of time because personally, I was not much impressed.

Doddabetta Peak being the Southern India's Highest Peak did arouse curiosity in my mind to visit the place and experience the scenic view from the top. The view from the top is amazing , specially if you get partial sunlight during the daytime. When you look beyond the hill tops you can see the green patches of the hill lighted with sun light in some portions and some areas shadowed. If you are visiting the place during a rainy day you might be lucky to see distant clouds in plenty hovering over the adjacent hills. I being a nature loving person enjoyed this view a lot. I visited the place in June and it was raining profusely at that time. But still I enjoyed getting drenched in the rain and feeling the cool breeze touch. Give it a try my fellow travellers :)

Note :- There is a minimal charge of Rs 25 per head as entry fee and Rs 10 for camera. Do carry change. I think they do not accept cards there :)

Doddabetta is the one thing you could really skip on your ooty trip.

This is supposed to be the tallest point in the area. It's very windy and it gets kinda cold on top. Do carry protective clothing with you to Doddabetta even if you find ooty to be warm.

The place is poorly managed and over crowded. Parking is a mess. I dont see the point in spending all that time to drive up there for an aerial glimpse of ooty.

I'd NEVER go back

There is nothing extraordinary here in fact a lot of crowd, so please skip this unless there is nothing else.
The place isn't managed properly, I don't blame the authorities totally, there is lot of rush and the tourists need to act responsible and take care that they don't litter things here n there
