Wild Walkers
Reviewed 9 June 2014

The entire experience starting from Bangalore back to Wild walkers and back to Bangalore was just superb. Was lucky to get driven by the wonderful host Kamal and get his service in person at Wild Walkers. The journey through the Bandipur forest was pleasant with light rain shower on our way.

The weather there was fantastic and the surroundings unbelievable with mountains, valley and forest view from the cottage almost like a dream come true home. The home like atmosphere unlike the hotels which seems very commercial make one feel at home and very comfortable.

I woke up early in the morning around 6am (which i rarely do back at Bangalore) just to hear the chirping sounds of different birds with cooing sounds and echo. The sunrise behind the mountains is breath taking. I did record them in my mobile phone and took with me lots of pictures and memories. The food was of local cuisine and ate to my heart’s content during all my meals. The fire place help keep me warm during chilled evenings with cool breeze. The silence at night and the dark sky with stars shining bright and clear. sitting at the balcony and gazing away at the forest with hardly any light and animal sounds was fascinating.

Managed to see lot of Bisons (India Gaur), numerous birds, lizards, India Bear, Sāmbhar, Etc.... during the visit. The best being the close encounter with a Bison almost 10 meters away and capturing it in my camera lens. It did made me wait 3 days before i got this moment just minutes before leaving Wild Walkers.

Thanks to Kamal for scintillating hot water bath (water boiled with Eucalyptus and Citi Dora leaves) for an enriching experience.

The trek to close by viewpoints and drive on the 4 wheel drive open jeep was cool.

Also we had a village trek planned to Hullathi and chance to interact with the locals there and walk between the village and farms growing Potato, Carrot and Radish...

I only await my next opportunity to visit wild walkers and capture more pictures of the sunrises, birds and animals.

In short... a perfect way to unwind from hectic city life and connect with the nature at its best.

I would write an entire story if I had the time and explain my entire journey in detail. ;-)

Room Tip: The room with the balcony view is the best. The cell phone network is bad but that has its own advan...

It is an absolute treat for any recluse. The trek to the house late in the evening was one for the ages. The rustic setting made me realize what I was missing in the city.Thefood kept me warm in the chilly nights. The resort is built keeping the local Eco system in mind. These folks know what they do. The fireplace is magical in the setting. It has been a year since I have visited the place. But my heart hasn't stopped
yearning for it. It is not a must see place but a can't miss place! Its a place where I intend to take my kids to this place one day to realize the mystique of the mountains.

After passing through the challenging and scenic road, once you reach the place, the first thing you say is "wow! what a place on earth". Its well located, surrounded by lush green forest, view from the place is great, wild life sighting is for sure. I have visited this place many times and sighted wild life around the property (Gaur, Sambar deer, elephants, sloth bear). Last year, I was fortunate to sight and photograph a TIGER right from the corridor of the property.....can you believe this??? The architectural features are very much appealing and the the property is built with real "green technologies" keeping its ecological footprint very minimal. Rooms are well furnished and maintained. Simple sumptuous vegetarian food served. Camp fire and BBQ will make you enjoy the chill weather of Neelgiris. A great place of bird watching, wildlife photography, relaxation and rejuvenation...all at one place!! I will visit again and again....as many times as I can....
Note:Be prepared to travel on rough terrain and for drastically changing weather (you may have to walk a bit at times!). carry all your personal needs (medicines and specific diet if any) as you won't find anything nearby. Do not go around without locals assistance. Try your best to keep the serenity of the property. Quietly sit and watch the nature unfolding its secrets right in front of you.
You may not get common luxuries you generally expect/find at other star properties...but what ever you get here is unique and not that easy to find elsewhere.

Room Tip: Though all the three rooms have good view, View from top-front room is excellent

Many a time we feel that we have lost the connection with nature and we just wanna go back to nature.Wild Walkers provides you that nature retreat at its best. I went to this place last April , Untouched, pure and high in energy ! (Yes I can talk about the energy level of the place because I am an energy healer ) this place stood like a pearl amid the mighty forest of Nilgiris. The architecture itself blends very well with the nature with the use of natural wood, stones and mud.Beautiful modern architecture; the rooms are quite big with chimney in each of them. From the property itself one can see bisons , deers, rabbits, and elephants. Its a paradise for the bird watchers. Food is simple home cooked food with lots of local ingredients.Must try is Herbal tea. We enjoyed Trekking, hiking, bird watching, BBQ and our meditations. wonderful in summer.Perfect place for rejuvenation .Over all outstanding experience. Looking forward to visit Wild Walkers again.

Room Tip: The room on top will give you a panoramic view of the forest
