Kluney Manor

I spent a vacation in ooty at this hotel in my 3rd marriage aniversry with a royal experience at Kluney Manor, a victorian herittage resort with a 3 star standard.
Awsome Location on a top of a hill with a top view of Ooty Lake.
Sprawling over a 4 acre of area with very nicely maintained lawns & gardens in victorian style with different types of mountain flowers, trees & orchids etc.
Excellent cottage& suits rooms furnished with victorian style beds, dressings units, large wardrobe, fire place etc. made of dark teak woods. Cottages are having 3 rooms, 1 drawing with sofa sets & tea poy, 1 really large victorian style bed room, 1 standard dressing room and a attached bath room with 24hrs hot water service & modern accessories. Rooms tariff includes very good complementary breakfast of indian & continental food.
Very friendly staffs & excellent room services. Excellent quality of foods available with a variety of cuisine including indian, spl. hydrabadi, continental, chineese, all days snacks & beverages.
Food is little bit expenssive but compatible with 3* standard. I recomend this resort to the honeymooners, families with clindren etc. with a mid expenssive budget.
Approach road to this resort is a bit stipp and not good but once you are inside the resort, everything is worth.

Its been a long time in bangalore and We wanted to spend some quality time in a hill station. So we booked our stay in Kluney Manor Ooty (After reading reviews on trip advisor) and Yes! We weren't disappointed. We did the reservation thru makemytrip.com. (2 Adults and 2 Kids aged 8,7) 4 Days stay approx charges were 18K paid to makemytrip.com.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. The check in was smooth. We were allotted the Queen's Room. Which was a Suite Room. The room had a double cot bed and a fire place. The Hotel charges about Rs 100/- for every time they light the fire place. The fire lasts for about 1 hour and is sufficient to make the room warm.

The lawn in front of the bungalow was a pretty sight. My children always played there in the morning. running after birds and butterflies which is a rarity in Bangalore.

The rates for the room is inclusive of breakfast. The breakfast is rich and very tasty. My children who are quite choosy did love it. We also add dinner from the restaurant at night. Tasty food. Overall we did enjoy the stay at Kluney. btw, Kluney was a Britisher who built the old bungalow. (Refurbished lately). However we did try to book a cab to see ooty which didn't result in a sweet experience. The travel agents associated with this hotel is trying to make a rip off most of the time. I think he charges about Rs 600/- commission for every day you hire an innova.

There is also a small jungle on the back side of the bungalow. We did enjoy celebrating my birthday there. It was lots of fun. The Staff is very courteous.. but be ware of the travel agents associated with them!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great location.
We had a great time at the hotel during our visit in December. Service is good, restaurant serves good food. Nice garden to relax and have tea. Lovely and spacious rooms which feel like cottages. Ample parking space.

Approach road is slightly bad and directions to the hotel need to be more helpful.

There are certain times of the year, like when the rest of the plains are sweltering in the summer months, that this old hill station holds a distinct charm with its warm, sunny days, flowers in bloom and chill evenings.

Our choice for accommodation this Easter break was the Kluney Manor, which calls itself a Victorian resort. As our car turned up the steep incline towards the entrance gate and turned into the portico, it did indeed seem like we had been transported back to a Victorian era. The elegant bungalow, which houses the reception and the suite rooms, is reminiscent of the days of the Raj. Add to this the sprawling lawns and the wonderful view of the Ooty Lake far below, gives it the appearance of being the perfect getaway in Ooty.

The website mentions that Kluney Manor was built in the mid 1800s by Capt. MacPherson of the British army as his home in the hills. Later it became the summer retreat of the Maharaja of Patna.

The lawn is very clean, green and maintained very well. One can relax and sit out in the lawn for hours together. The rooms are spacious and with very good facilities like the fire place, sit out and the bath tub, etc.
I would recommend people to go to this palce, it is worth the money you spend.

Experience tranquility at this budget hotel, which is surrounded with the panoramic ambiance that encompasses Eastern and Western ghats. Within its Victorian interiors are 36 comfortable rooms that are maintained with Le'Cluney dinning hall. Guests can be a part of many recreational activities that are organized by the hotel, namely trekking to the reserve, and wild life safaris. There is also a lawn area overlooking the hilly region, ideal for private parties and business conventions.

The view of the lake, the lovely garden with summer flowers in bloom, make it charming enough, but somewhere along the line it falls just short of the mark, both in terms of quality of rooms as well as service.

Amazing Dining, Food & Room service: Excellent Location: Awesome Parking: Too Good Certainly if one plans to go to Ooty, I recommend them to choose Hotel Kluney Manor.
