“So nice!”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

Great place: quiet, simple but clean, extremely friendly and helpful family (we spoke mostly with Mr and Mrs Singh and their daughter-in-law). We had the room right next to the entrance and it was very big. Laundry service was perfect. Don't forget to plug in the mosquito thingy as you're told :-) We had our train to Varanasi in the evening and as there was no guest for our room that night, Mr Singh allowed us to stay until 6 pm so we could rest after visiting the Taj and the Fort: so nice!

Room Tip: We had the room right next to the entrance and didn't see any others - but ours was great!

The Singh house is in the middle of a large garden set back from the road, in a quiet neighbourhood. The room we stayed in was really comfortable. The family make you welcome in their home and are extremely accommodating, without being obtrusive in any way. We found this place an excellent sanctuary, removed from the sometimes overwhelming hubbub of Agra's centre. Very convenient location, not far from the Taj Mahal and the red fort. Would highly recommend this place!

Come to Agra for the Taj Mahal but stay at Heritage Homestay for the Singhs. This is a really nice family. Despite the fact that I only stayed overnight, they went out of their way to be good to me— and to the two other women who were staying with them at the same time. Between us, we inadvertently visited quite a bit of drama on their home. I arrived at night, scared out of my wits by an experience on a private bus not long after a young woman was raped and killed on a similar bus in Dehli. One of the two women traveling together was slapped by a passerby and delivered to their home by the police in a fairly traumatized state. Like I said, drama and plenty of it. Fortunately, Heritage Homestay is an oasis outside of the Agra, which can be kind of a mean little town.

The Singhs allowed me to keep my luggage at their home while I toured Agra. When my train was many hours late due to fog, they offered me the use of a room at no charge until I was able to leave. I thought they were wonderful.

This old English officers residence, is a quiet oasis in a hectic city. When you have struggled with the crowds and salesmen at Taj Mahal, it is really comforting to rest at the Heritage Homestay. The rooms are simple but clean, quite spacious and with western toilet and shower with warm water. Our son got sick after our checkout, but without hesitation, the landlord let him stay in the room for most of the afternoon. Two nice restaurants within walking distance and a parachute battalion around the corner for protection, what more do you need?

Following a rather fraught week in Delhi attending meetings, my colleagues and I found ourselves with a day to spare and decided to take a trip to Agra. The Heritage Homestay stood out as a suitable place to stay and we were not disappointed. The owner is lovely and we were made to feel very welcome the entire time we were there. The area is a sea of tranquillity amongst the hustle and bustle of Agra and was a breath of fresh air. The beds were comfortable and the food was excellent- would definitely recommend.
