Felt that the food was extremely expensive and is definitely not a value for money .. Even if its a 5 star.. The property is beautiful n will visit it in winters again. There are multi things to do .. Our kids simply loved the pool :)

Stayed here during the end of December - lovely, luxorious hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive to all details. The rooms are spacious and depite the cold of December, it was an excellent stay. We were actually there in Christmas Day so dinner was at the hotel - the buffet was absolutely amazing ! The "hunter chicken" was eaten at least 3 times by my 10 year old !! The buffet breakfast was amazing - so much variety. The gardens are stunning and the whole place is stunning ! Highly recommended

My son and I stayed here for 2 nights on our Golden Triangle Tour. We absolutely loved our stay and were treated like royalty. We ate both evenings in the Indian restaurant where we were served on both occasions by Simran. Simran`s high level of service was amazing. Our room was spotless and luxurious for a standard. The hotels public room are palatial. Agree with former client the pool was a bit cloudy but we swam in it and we survived. Really wish we could have stayed longer but unfortunately we had to move on. Thank you Wyndham Grand.

We were a large family group of 14 adults and 6 children and checked into this hotel after seeing the pictures on net. The property is large, the gardens sprawling, the architecture beautiful, the rooms large and comfortable. The interior designers of the hotel have however done everything to make the hotel look dowdy. If the hotel owners wish to revive this property, revamp it asap. Some rooms were smelling terribly hence two of our group members had to change them.Even the quality of the bath towels was mediocre.
We took the children to the pool which looked strangely yellowish but when you're having fun in a large group, you tend to overlook a lot. We got into the pool to feel algae beneath our feet and the pool was filthy beyond words. We immediately got out of the pool.
The food was definitely good and the buffet spread over breakfast, lunch and dinner was pretty good too.
Seeing the intense competition in the hotel industry, this hotel should quickly pull up its sopck

This was originally the Orient Taj Hotel & Resort. Now it is a Franchisee of The Wyndham Hotels Group which include brands like Ramada, Travelodge, Days Inn, Wyndham etc.

Location: If you are driving into Agra from Delhi or any nearby Town then budget 45 mins to get to the hotel from where the highways end at the suburbs of Agra. Its not because of the distance, rather its because of congested Agra roads. Otherwise, the hotel is 20 mins from the Railway Station or about 30 mins from the Airport. The best is its location vis-a-vis The Tajmahal. Just about 2 km to the West Gate of The Tajmahal. 1 km (3/4 min) from the hotel is the car park for the West Gate. You need to park here and buy the entrance tickets to The Taj. From here to the actual Taj West Gate, you need to hop into a electric mini-bus. They keep circulating every few minutes. Even better, hop onto a horse drawn Tonga (Cart) for about Rs 100/- (USD 2) for the 5 min leisurely ride. Vehicles with petrol/diesel engines are not allowed within a 1 kilometer of The Taj due to environmental reasons.

Building and Ambience.

The construction is in traditional ethnic Rajasthani style with some contemporary touches. Lots of marble and green granite, gilded woodwork, "jharokas" and "Jali" work, large well maintained grounds, magnificent brass studded huge wood door etc. See pictures of all these that I have uploaded.

Eight rooms are arranged in two floors around a central, lush green, courtyard. Each such "court" is named after famous Mughal Empire luminaries. Several such "courts" are arranged around a lush green central Quadrangle.

The hotel rooms are also furnished in ethnic Rajasthani style. Exquisite carved marble soap dish, toothbrush holder, gilded arm chairs etc. The standard rooms are large enough to accommodate a spare bed (for the third adult sharing the same room) and yet leave enough space for movement.

Air-conditioning is good in the hotel common areas as well as the rooms.

Service and Facilities.

Our family had two young kids aged 7 and 1.5 yrs respectively. The large main pool is just 4' deep and the kiddies lap pool is 2' deep. That meant the kids could safely use the pools. The water was clean and the chlorination levels just right. The sunken poolside bar serves up a variety of drinks and eats. Reasonably priced considering this is a 5 star establishment. The only downside in the pool area were the changing rooms. The Airconditioner there does not work, there are no fans and the floor tiles are dangerously slippery. All of us took turns in slipping and falling!

Room service is fast and polite. Check in/out is fast and efficient. House keeping is twice a day (yes, twice!) including a turndown service.

F&B

Our room rates included buffet breakfast and dinner. Huge buffets with a variety of Continental/ Indian and Chinese choices. Thoroughly enjoyed both meals. At any given time half the guests are non-Indians. I saw the hotel trying hard to lay out a variety of dishes to suit all kinds of palate. The buffets are in the Zaiqa multicuisine restaurants. Apart from this there are other restaurants, bars and Discos. You will not be left wanting for variety.

Miscellaneous

If you are driving down in a chauffeur driven car then there are many hotels within walking distance where you can get rooms for about Rs 500/- per night for your driver. Unlike some hotels in Tourist places, this property does not offer dormitory accommodation for drivers. But that's not a problem given the proximity of several economical choices.

Overall, a very good experience.

Room Tip: Rooms in Tansen Court are nearest to the Reception, Lobby and Zaiqa Restaurant. Its not too far from...

Agra was the final leg of our trip
After fabulous stays (experiences) at Taj Rambagh Palace in Jaipur and Leela in Udaipur, we were very disappointed at the Hyatt in Amritsar. The initial thought was to blame the chain company Hyatt. But that is not the reality since we have had wonderful stays in other Hyatts. Also both Taj and Leela are not stand alone hotels though I would say are a cut above the Hyatt's Hiltons or Marriott's and maybe even the Ritz Carlton.
So it was with some trepidation we drove to Wyndham Grand. We were not disappointed at all.
It satisfied its five star billing and more.
Pros
It had excellent value for the money
Luxury in public areas
Large size rooms
Great ambience
Excellent service
Great food for formal dinner. We enjoyed the cuisine from Afghanistan in the formal restaurant. The breakfast buffet that came with the room was exceptional
We had nothing to complain about

Best point the value!

After four weeks living in rooms of max 300 rps per person per night, we decided to treat ourselves during our stay in Agra. The lobby was promising and the rooms met the standard of the lobby. Loved the pool, loved the breakfast. The service was good, although not very different from the rest of Agra: polite, but always money-oriented. There were few tourists, I think only 20% of the rooms were occupied, so I am curious what the hotel would be like in high season.
Would recommend this place.
