“Very nice room and helpful staff”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

Only stayed here for 2 quick nights, not getting into hotel until very late. Rooms are very nicely decorated and modern, bed very soft & comfortable, front desk are very helpful, and accomadating. Breakfast is quite good, eggs made to order.

The only reason I didn't rate this excellent is because, hotel is not that centrally located, can walk to some shops, 10-15 minute walk to McDonalds or KFC. Security in not friendly at all, quite rude to be honest. Not many english speaking tv channels, they do offer free wifi.

Taj Mahal is maybe 10 minute drive, definitely would suggest getting up by 0500-0530am to arrive before sunrise, much less crowded than later in the day.

The room is a good size, comfortable clean bed, with a safe, nice size bathroom. The furnishing and colour had a 'clean line' look but too much makes it rather dull looking. The breakfast was like a three star hotel in KL. A few choices but quite tasty. Swimming pool was under maintenance, no gym, had to get a guy to fix my TV channels ( 'no speak English') and had to call twice to get him. I would rate the hotel 3 star at best. The hotel is two years old, staff are mostly young and inexperienced but they were smiling and polite, needs more polishing up. The outside area is quite grungy like a big part of Agra.

We had visited to Delhi and Agra Taj for our winter vacation through Unisafe Tours India, where we meet Mr. Vishal the manager of the Unisafe Travels who has provided us the memorable vacation for my family. Good class of hotels, transportation and friendly staff. we would love to have an another holiday with Unisafe in future.
I would advise you my friends to have a wonderful experience to travel with unisafe.

I was headed for Ranthambhor via Agra, as we wanted to enjoy the Taj Expressway and visit Taj Mahal enroute. However due to certain reasons we got late and were looking for a value for money accomodation at a short notice in Agra to stay overnight. And we luckily found one in "The Retreat". Spacious rooms with king size beds and neat and clean environment. Lobby and restaurant area are good. The staff is extremely well behaved and friendly. I love food, and they did a great job with the quality and service on that front, both at Dinner & Breakfast. Though, I did not use the pool, however it was a nice sized pool, with enough area to sit around it. The Hotel even helped us through thier personal contacts to advice us the best route towards Ranthambhor. I am impressed with the hotel. Just one tip to the management......do a little more with plants and art inside and around your hotel entrance. It will make things all the more pretty. Keep up the good job. God Bless You

The staff at this hotel are very friendly, however, that is the only nice thing I can say about this hotel. The rooms were not very clean, the food was quite terrible (possibly the worst food I have ever had), room service took an hour to get us a hair dryer after multiple requests...just to list a few things that went wrong. I am certainly aware of the fact that things are not always 100% perfect in any hotel - however, there were one too many things wrong at The Retreat. In terms of value for money, considering that this is India, this hotel is overpriced for the quality provided and we only ended up staying here because our tour company booked us at this hotel. In one word: Beware.

Positives:

Very modern and clean hotel.

Spacious reception and lounge area.

Good buffet breakfast and we had a great evening meal.

10 minutes from Taj and 20 mins from Fort Agra.

Very large clean room, comfortable king size bed and powerful hot shower.

Negatives:

Wifi did not work in room (but did work in lounge area).

Pool was out of service. Very annoying as we specifically chose this hotel for outside pool space as a escape from the Agra hustle and bustle.

Not much atmosphere, quite generic.

Overall: This is a very decent clean and modern hotel. Its not an exciting hotel but it ticks all the boxes. Would get an extra star if the pool worked.

This place is very close to the Taj mahal. The rooms are luxurious but the shower tap was a litre difficult to handle in my bathroom. It was perfect in the room my parents were staying. The ac seemed to have been shut off and it was warm at night.
There was a stench from outside that had found its way into both our rooms. Thankfully, it was observed when we were about to check out so we didn't take it too seriously.
The breakfast spread was decent. The dinner buffet was average.
