“An enjoyable stay but overpriced.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2013 via mobile

We believe the room was overpriced compared to the price in the guide book. The beds felt damp and the tv didn't work.
On the plus side the restaurant was very cheap and the food was excellent. The staff were funny and very helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Very much recommended for Taj Mahal visit. This hotel is great in almost all aspects. The best advantage is its location. Located 500 mtr/5 minute walk from Taj western gate. The gate is visible from the road in front of the hotel, as can be seen from one of my pics. The rooms are cozy and clean, not very large, but well equipped in its price range. We visited with my septuagenarian grand mother and booked this hotel from cleartrip @550/Non AC room/night. This is rather cheap w.r.t the service we got.The vouchers were readily accepted and promptly our rooms were given.I requested for ground floor rooms for my granny, which were well equipped. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. Food they serve in their garden restaurant is good if not very good but a little pricey. But we found outside restaurants charges are exorbitant compared to the hotel restaurant,so we had our food from here only. The room service is good and staff are very helpful. The manager welcomed us with a big smile and immediately provided tea to my mom and grandma free of cost as a welcome gesture.Whenever I required anything, the boys and the manager would jump in to help. The bathroom has no geyser, but 24 hour running hot water from big tanks in rooftop. So no problem of hot water. We stayed two days, and on the last day, the hot water run out. We had hurry to leave for Delhi, so the staff readily provided bucketful of hot water. When that was not enough for the 5 of us, the manager even provided a room for us with a geyser running in bathroom. We really liked their behaviour. Also when we discovered a bee hive in one of the bathroom windows, they took care of that immediately and made our stay enjoyable.

The only con I would say is that no window in the rooms which may be problematic for some, but not for us in winter. Also the rooftop has no restaurant as monkeys visit often. We saw monkeys there when we went upstairs, but they were harmless and went away to provide us a great view of Taj at dusk and dawn. The rooms have no view but view from the roof is awesome.

I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Agra and would stay here if I ever visit again.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are good but they do not have window. Though it was not required during winte...

Hotel Sidhartha was a good choice for Agra. You can't get much closer to the west gate of the Taj! We got a double ensuite for 600r, but be prepared to haggle as this started off at 950! There wasnt a hot shower in the room but whenever you ask for it, they will bring bucketfuls of steaming hot water to your room. There seemed to be lots of mosquitoes in the room and I think they came in fro. The bathroom shuttered window so we had to conduct a nightly mossie hunt. The chai in the restaurant is good, but we didn't eat here because it didn't have a view of the taj. Would stay here again if in Agra.

We are from Mumbai... Me, my wife and my 2 year old daughter stayed here on 18th nov 2013.(1 night) Room was clean, (room no 120)... Hot water running... food was decent (A la carte) and staff was helpful. On our request they even help us book 'taj in full moon tickets', of course they charged a little extra but that was reasonable. I must say that this hotel looks better then the pics on websites... Location wise I think eastern gate is a more happening place but this side ie western gate has its old charm... I will recommend this hotel to everyone. Go for it...!

My husband and I stayed here in early November 2013 for 2 nights, we booked this hotel through cleartrip. We were a little disappointed at the standard of the room. The booking details specified the room would have a hairdryer, safe etc, which it did not, but most disappointingly the room was not very clean. There were some sort of blood stains on the wall near the bed and sugar spilled all over the (one) bedside table. Otherwise the room was spacious, and the hotel is very close to the West Gate of the Taj Mahal (about 2 mins walk) so very convenient for sunrise visits. The hotel was also down a pedestrian only road, so it was a little quieter than other areas in Agra.
We stayed in 6 different hotels in India over a 2 week period and this was easily the worst room we stayed in, and the third most expensive, although this may be a reflection of room quality/value in Agra.

very very nice place to stay..very clean room /bathroom with nice people to deal with...2 minute walk from the Taj Mahal...
giving it a 4 out of 5 because there was no regular clean up of the hotel the way it is done in mumbai(every morn/eve)..there is no telephone to order or call for assistance..have to go to the reception personally to talk

Room Tip: i stayed in a standard room which was very nice
