Stayed here for 3 nights in the heat of summer. Summer is probably not the best time to visit hot and humid Varanasi, but we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We were also thrilled to stay at the Ganges View by recommendation of a good friend who used to live in this fascinating town.
The Ganges View feels like an elegant and well-kept old home, and that's because I believe it is just that. It is now an affordable hotel with many authentic charms, an incredible library, a panoramic roof deck, and offers a glimpse into real Varanasi.
Our room had a little terrace where we could take our tea and enjoy the other-worldly sights and sounds, when we needed a break from the streets. When we got ill (thanks to some questionable paneer at a restaurant we should have avoided), the staff took great care of us and we were happy to be in a comfortable bed and room where we could rest.
Down the street there's also a great bookstore where you can get modern and classic Indian literature for Kindle-like prices.More
