Can you imagine what it was like here so long ago? It's fun to sit on a bench here and ponder the scene here given the massive scale. The Ashoka Pillar is not in situ (to top sits in the nearby museum) but the site is still interesting. Beautiful birds here as well.

A shame the Lion capital is not in situ, but it can be seen in the nearby museum along with lots of Chunar sandstone sculptures in a great state of preservation after almost 1,000 years.

Good to get an idea about the time period of King Asoka. But better to read a book or get the help of a tour guide to get a proper description about the historical value.

If you travel to visit this you will be disappointed as there is just a few large fragments behind an iron raining, but a trip to the museam to see the capita is well worth the time
