This temple is located near the Durgakund temple, at a distance of about 7 Kms. from the Varanasi Main (Cant) Railway station. It is one of the famous temples of this holy city, because most sacred Hindu Epic Ram Charit Mans was created at this place by the great Saint poet Goswami Tulsi Das. In memory, this beautiful marble studded temple was erected by a Philanthropist family of Varanasi in the year 1964.
I had been to this temple before, but this time I came here to explore it in detail. Opening timings of the temple are 5.30AM to 12 AM., then 3 PM to 9 PM. Although few security men were at the entrance gate, but there is not much security formality .They just asked that don’t take photographs inside temple, you may take snaps from outside. Foreigners are allowed to visit this temple. As in all Hindu temples, you have to take off your shoes and put it outside. There is a path leading to temple, dotted by palm trees. Greenery is all around in the form of well maintained lawns, which provide extra charm to this temple. It is a two storied building with three spires over the sanctum region. After entering, you’ll find a big hall .Look at the walls around, you’ll see verses of epic Ram Charit Manas, engraved all over, with colorful vivid painting of various scenes, as described in the epic. Main sanctum is devoted to Lord Rama, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman. When you go up by stair, you have to purchase Rs.3 token ticket to see the glimpses of animated statues. It’s worthwhile and must see thing. You will see beautiful, electrically animated statues of many scenes pertaining to Ramayana and Mahabharat .Above the main sanctum is the most impressive, animated statue of Goswami Tutsi Das ji , creating the epic and chanting its verses. . One month long Shravan Mela( fair) and Jhulnotsava held each year ,in the month of Shrawan(July-August) is the main attraction of this temple. During that period you’ll find huge crowd of devotees in this temple and you will have to rub shoulders to get inside.

I'm absolutely baffled by the high ratings for this one. In an ancient city like Varanasi, why would anyone bother with a modern temple from 1964? Even considering its recent vintage, I wasn't impressed. The marble had been indiscreetly used and the overall effect was tacky and unappealing. I would strongly advise anyone in Varanasi for a short time to give this one a miss and stick to the ghats and temples along the Ganges.

A beautiful temple calm and peaceful. We went to see the automaton show which was the Gods acting out the festivals and other important events in their religious lives.
The white marble is beautiful and the stories written around the walls inside the temple are exceptional .

Lovely and big temple. The walls are all carved with the different khandas of Ramayan from the Saint Tulsidas. It is a calm and quiet place, much in contrast to the other temples and city of Varanasi.
