There is too much to share on this topic but don't be afraid to ask questions and pick-up a book for a detailed look at greatness of Buddhism from a Tibetan perspective.

“Peaceful Ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

Varanasi is not without its share of temples and in middle of all the temples, this Buddhist temple stand out for its religious beliefs and the historical importance. There is a divine atmosphere and is comparatively with lesser crowd and also is a well kept. The monks are very tolerant to all the tourist activities around and it is amazing watching how they are well concentrated in their rituals and prayers.

The Tibetan Temple was an enjoyable & enlightening way to spend an afternoon. There are also other temples in this area that are worthwhile.

“A Place of Peace and Contemplation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2013

Sarnath is mentioned by Buddha as one of the four places of pilgrimage that his devout followers should visit so that it is not surprising that various temples have been built near to the site. Among others the followers from Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Tibet have all built nearby and this particular shrine was built by Tibetan Buddhists. It houses the glorious Shakyamuni Buddha and the walls and ceiling have been covered with Tibetan paintings ( Known as Thangksa ). This is a peaceful place with atmosphere aided by the many prayer flags and prayer wheels which release paper scrolls when rotated clockwise. The paintings are rightly famed for their beauty and the Temple is well worth a visit
