Our entire stay at this hotel was a litany of hospitality errors.
Firstly, we had requested a pick up from the train station. Rather than them wait for us at the statio, they asked that we call them when we arrived and wait for their arrival. Ater waiting 45 minutes and see other hotels pick up all of their guests, we decided to go it alone.
Upon finally reaching the hotel we discovered that the room ad filthy walls with patches where the paint had come away, stained bedding and a rather dilapidated air-con system. The TV only showed 1 English channel; the manager was apparently unwilling to pay the extra to get any more.
We mentioned that we were getting up before sunrise to see the ghats, but the gates were locked and we had to wait ages for them to be opened. The exact same scenario occurred when leaving for our bus.
We wanted to exchange books and were happy to change 2 of ours for 1 of theirs; an entirely resonable request that every other hotel we've stayed i in India has gladly accepted. Not so Ganpatti Guesthouse. I watched as they clculated the price of our and their books and it appeared our were worth more. Of course, this wouldn't do and so a new figure was produced where we would have ended up paying them!
For the price we paid for one of their best rooms, this hotel performed extremely poorly. We were in India for 7 weeks, stayed in a whole range of establishments but this was by far the worst. Avoid.
