just beware of the food you have at this place. I threw a party with gathering of 80 people including children. The ambiance is good staff is ok and i thought like old times the food would also be good. Unfortunately the food tasted good to all present including children. One day later news started coming in when my nephew had a bad stomach and had to be admitted in the hospital. There were many other people affected that night after having that food both adults and children. Ajanta hotel proved that not all cuisines that tastes good are made under hygienic conditions. The manager is tongue tied and what else can he do neither can i. I can only avoid going to that hotel and advise all other localities and travelers, just be cautious about in this place. Don't go by the location and look of the property. A small room with good food made under hygienic condition is a better place to stay rather than this big property. I am raising this issue with local heath department and requesting to put this hotel's kitchen under surprise surveillance to catch hold of the gaps. I am sure the hotel will hardly share this info with its management but for the rest travelers i would again insist bring food from outside

Location: Primely located on Rajpur Road which leads to Mussorrie.

Pricing: High compared to facilities provided. Hotels in this price range offer much better services in other cities like Dehradun.

Food: Restaurant was under renovation so only 'Room Service' was available. Quantity was significant and taste of most items was good.

Housekeeping: Prompt. But on the day of check out there was no running hot water due to some technical problem and after many '10 minutes more' promises finally hotel provided hot water in buckets, this whole exercise wasted one full hour of ours.

Staff courtesy: Up to the mark.

Parking: Sufficient and inside hotel premises.

Rooms/Building: The hotel looks an old building needing urgent make up from outside but from inside it's manitained but needs improvement in many portions.

Negatives: Toiletries were pretty average. No tea/coffe maker in room. Wi-fi didn't work on day on check in.

Room Tip: Opt for a high floor & for rooms facing the road as they give view of mountains. View doesn't affect the tariff.

This hotel has gone down very badly overall. I got married at this place about 9 years ago when they still cared about basics such as customer service and cleanliness. I was shocked and disappointed yesterday when I went to Ajanta to attend another wedding function. I have never even seen government toilets this dirty. To make it worse, the management couldn't care less about it. When I requested for the bathrooms to be cleaned, the owner was right there...his attitude was nowhere near apologetic or even surprised...he just brushed it aside and said that it would be taken care of. I even went to one of their rooms in search of a clean loo...instead I found no water, a horrible stench, and dead cockroaches on a stained floor. I would not recommend you ever stay at ajanta.

This is an old hotel , with clean, good sized rooms, clean and functional bathrooms (plenty of hot water in the mornings) and a pleasant breakfast (included in the room tariff). It is very well located, on Rajpur road, which is a busy road but 15-30 minutes away (depending on the traffic) from most destinations in Dehradun. The food is pleasant, service is good and room service is prompt. While it is not a fancy hotel, it is good value for the price if you want a clean, comfortable room to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors, facing away from the main (Rajpur) road are quieter and brighter.

We stayed at Ajanta Hotel for one night. It is a budget hotel with reasonably priced rooms. Do not expect anything great about the place. The main advantage of staying in this hotel is that it is centrally located in the up market area i.e. on Rajpur road. The rooms were quite big. The front office staff was quite co-operative and check in formalities were simple and fast. The issue which needs urgent attention is that of housekeeping. The bedsheets/towels were dirty. The paint in the room was chipping off and the bathroom was also not very clean. Overall the stay was tolerable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear are quieter
