We really can't say enough good things about The Amber Vermont Estate!

We booked this Resort for our Honeymoon and we were so pleased we did!

Firstly, this is a beautiful Estate situated in the foothills of the Himalayan's, near Mussoorie, India. It was about a 2 hour Knuckle drive up some pretty steep and obstacle riddled roads, but the drive was well worth the pain.

The resort is nestled in a very private area on the mountain, just enough away from any noise of the town. The resort was finely kept, with beautiful gardens and well manicured lawns and garden area. We were greeted by a very friendly staff upon our arrival who made sure our room met our expectations.

The room was well appointed with all the amenities we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the room offered ample ventilation. Even with the heat in Dehradun exceeding 100F, it was a very comfortable 80F in Mussoorie each day and even the occasional summer shower kept things very comfortable.

The best thing we found at this lovely resort was the food and the staff who worked at the Restaurant. Each day we were met with very friendly staff who served the most delicious food! We ate like Royalty and enjoyed every meal that was presented to us! There was not a single meal we didn't enjoy and for this alone, this was worth every penny! We felt the food far exceeded our expectations and the value was excellent!

The Chambermaid staff were very friendly, very helpful and always there immediately whenever we needed anything at all.

Overall, we can't say enough good things about The Amber Vermont Estate. We loved the location, the facilities, the room and most of all, the food! We would definitely recommend this place for even the most discerning traveler and we WILL be returning here one day for our Anniversary... :)

What a gem we found in the foothills of the Himalayan in Mussoorie, India. This beautiful "old world" charm Estate is nestled about 2 hours drive into the Himalayan range. We took a 5.5 hour Train ride from Delhi to Dehradun where we then took a local taxi for the remaining roughly 2 hour drive into the mountains. The locals will tell you it's a 1 hour drive, but that is just not the case. With traffic congestion bringing you to a standstill before you barely pull away from the Train Station, it's more like 2 hours from door to door.
The drive up is not for the weak at heart, as the local cab drivers drive a little insane and there's PLENTY of obstacles in the road (Cattle, rocks, cars, people) on your way up. For those that can stomach the winding switchbacks and roaming cattle in the middle of the road, the trip is well worth it!
This beautiful garden surrounded Estate is NOT anything like the dozens of Hotels that spot the hillside. This is a luxury Estate, just a short 3 min drive up some very private roads out of the town of Mussoorie. We were greeted by 3 very friendly Staff members including the General Manager Rakesh Saluja. They made sure our room was to our satisfaction before officially booking us in, which it definitely was!
The view of the canyons into the Himalayan foothills was simply AWESOME! The air was fresh, not the stifling 100+F heat of Delhi. If you come here to escape the summer heat, you will have made the right choice. It was a very fresh but warm 80'sF (20's C) the entire time.
The food was ABSOLUTELY wonderful, as I explored new Indian dishes with each meal we enjoyed. The servers where polite, professional and willing to accommodate any meal request we had!
The Chambermaid staff were SUPER friendly, professional and prompt! Our room was made up each day with care and any needs we had were kindly met quickly and courteously. We were just blown away by their service. These folks went above and beyond our expectations and we are so grateful for making our stay so memorable!
I would suggest this resort is definitely very well suited for a couple. It's not to say a family can't enjoy it here, but there are limited activities right on the property premise, so the children may find it a tad bit "too laid back" ....hehehe. As a couple, we enjoyed the quite peaceful surroundings as it was our honeymoon and we wanted that privacy.

The overall stay at the Amber Vermont State was a delight. The hotel is relatively new, starting operations in 2010 and is well managed.

Location: Located a ~10 mins distance away from the Mall road, it is located at a quite corner of Mussoorie, away from the chaos at library chowk. It is quite close to the Company Garden and we did the 10 min hike to get to the hotel ourselves. The approach road to the hotel is a bit narrow and steep, but this was not a problem. The hotel offers complimentary pick up and drop at the mall and the service is prompt.

Views: Oh, what a view! The hotel offers you the back side view of the Mussoorie hill, with the snow clad Gangotri and Yamnotri peaks visible on a clear day and is lovely. The hotel has a open deck next to the reception in the main building where you can sit and enjoy the view. The rooms in the new blocks offer the same view.

Rooms: The rooms are spacious and are well furnished. There is a private, open sitting area with the rooms in the new block which have an unblocked view of the Mussoorie hills. The en-suite washrooms are modern. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are equipped with 2 heaters and an electric blanket.

Food: The breakfast spread is nice and adequate and the staff attentive. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant. Although, it is a bit pricey.

Service: The place can sell itself just on its hospitality. It is one of the best i have experienced in hotels across India. The hotel is well managed by Mr. Saluja and the team. All of our requests were entertained with a smile and were catered for.We were arranged a bonfire and a cake for my wedding anniversary along with a candle light dinner. We were also arranged a music dock in our room on request. Mr. Saluja also helped us arranging our travel from Rishikesh to Mussoorie. The overall experience was quite pleasing thanks to the services and the hospitality at the Vermont.

The overall stay at the Vermont State was enhanced by the excellent staff maintaining the property. A special shout out to Mr. Saluja and his team and our driver Deepak for their hospitality. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay.

There is a saying that nothing is perfect in this world. Well, Amber Vermont estate proved it wrong. And hence will write almost an essay complimenting this property.
Self-drive, stay for 2 nights in an Amber room.
Location: a short 10 mins drive from the mall road, nicely secluded and away from the hustle bustle of the city. Total peace and serenity engulfs you, and the birds chirps audible in your room prove the quiteness of this place. The access road to the hotel is an adventure in itself, especially while getting out. it is a bit steep, but has protective rails. I was a bit skeptic on how i would do it, but seeing their hotel car, and that too an Endeavour doing it with ease, i got the confidence and believe me, its very easy without any problems.
Service: A complimentary pick and drop service to the mall road. An advance notice of 10 minutes, and the vehicle is ready at your service, and the same to pick you up. Mr. Rakesh is so helpful that for my local travel, he dropped us at the local taxi stand at no additional charges. His advice on planning for the travel was so helpful. They had planned a bon-fire on the first night of our arrival and it was a blessing to sit around it have your drinks.
Staff: i got lost while reaching the hotel. On calling the hotel, they sent a guard up the main road and helped me reached the hotel. Their staff is always on their feet. You see any one in the entire day, and none of them gets tired in wishing you a Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and a good night.
Rooms: Cozy rooms, with a private sit-out overlooking the valley, and the snow clad himalayas clearly visible on a clear day. A heater and an electric blanket does wonders on a chilly morning, and couldn't ask for more even when we had to wear an extra sweater on a chilly night.
Food: The buffet dinner and breakfast was extremely lavish and was delicious. they were ready to prepare things not on the buffet spread and that too in no time. Room service is also available and its great to have your dinner in the private sit out in chilly winter overlooking the valley.
All in all, an extreamly awesome stay, with my wife nt wanting to go back. Dont even think twice before booking this property, to have a warm pleasant and a loving stay.
Way to go Amber-Vermont.
Thank you Mr. Rakesh and each and every employee, for making our stay an unforgettable experience. Wishing you all the best :)

Room Tip: Try out rooms in the new block, and preferably on the first floor!

A great place to spend your leisure time , enjoyable experience, good and managed services, only 12 rooms so expect good service overall. Fantastic food, Board games also available. Lot of open space with kids play games available, cooperative staff, Overall value for money. Only con is , about 3 Kms from Mall but Hotel provides pick/drop service at any time.

Room Tip: You can get a good deal and try to get food package included in the room fares as they do include it...

Trip Advisor Rocks !!!

We Stayed @ this Property from 6th April to 9th April 2014.

We have booked this property for 3 Nights, 4 Days, only on the basis of Trustworthy and Honest trip Advisor Reviews…

Our Stay was very comfortable..

How We Booked this Property ?

Initially we booked Country Inns & Suits by Carlson, Mussoorie as I am a member of “Club Carlson” but my Travel agent did a blunder by booking budget property called “Country Inn” instead of Country Inns & suits.
Looking @ this bad experience, I decided to refer Trip Advisor and suggested my agent to book “The Amber - Vermont Estate” as this hotel was featuring as 2nd best in Mussoorie.
Trust me, the choice & decision I made was worth mentioning as I will cherish good memories throughout my life.

Rooms:
We were allotted Room No 103, 104, on 1st floor. Rooms were very nice, comfortable, clean and full of Modern amenities. Room has balcony with Gr8 Mountain View. Also to mention Heated Bed sheets, dual room heaters. Since we had booked both the rooms on 1st floor, we also got personal access to small living area in between both the rooms.

Bathroom:
Bathrooms were Modern, Hygienic, Spacious, and clean with good quality toiletries.

Food:
Since number of Guests were less, Hotel had offered breakfast and dinner on Ala carte basis. Food was good with loads of choice to make. @ times, we ordered continental salads, 2 – 3 Indian Non-Veg dishes in a go along with Veg dishes and Indian Breads and the hotel people were happy to serve..
Food was very good, tasty and with good options. We also ordered out of the menu dishes as we wanted to try local food and trust me, we have no complaints to make.

Property:
Also to mention, Property is Located 2 kms away from Mall Road and offers Ideal place for peaceful stay (Away from Noisy and Traffic Packed Mussoorie Market, Library Road). It also offers Sun Deck for relaxation and Indoor games.

I would like to mention few Names and pay my thanks and regards to people who made my stay…a trip of lifetime !!!

1st I would like to Thank Rakesh Ji, Ravi and Pravesh from Reception for Warm Welcome and for much needed travel related guidance throughout our trip.

2nd, Would like to mention names from Kitchen – Harish Pundir, Anil Negi, Deepak Thapa for delicious food and prompt service and also for fulfilling our out of the menu requests..

3rd, Want to Thank Deepak and His Robust Ford Endeavour for Excellent Hotel to Mall Road Trips, that too numerous times..

4th.. Thanks to Madam Rani, Rajkumari, Aniram and Rakesh for prompt housekeeping services.

Last but not the least, Would like to thank Bhagat Singh Rawat and Vijay Bisht Ji for making out trip comfortable..

I would like to recommend this property to all travelers, who are traveling to Mussoorie.. Gr8 Place to Unwind and Relax..

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Amber Vermont Estate is a boutique retreat in the Himalayas. Vermont Estate was originally built in the latter half of the 19th century by a Britisher and is one of the oldest estates in the Himalayan town of Mussoorie. It has been refurbished to retain the atmosphere of a traditional English cottage with the addition of modern amenities. The property is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Mussoorie. The location, and the mix of modern comfort, old English charm and personalized service make The Amber Vermont Estate a treasure in Mussoorie. In the early 1800's, Vermont Estate was part of a grand estate called Logie Estate owned by the well-known Dr. Hugh Falconer. Dr. Falconer was a Scottish geologist, botanist, and paleontologist. He was the first to discover the remains of fossil mammals in the Siwalik Hills of India. In 1832, Falconer became the Superintendent of the Saharanpur Botanical Gardens, one of the oldest existing gardens in India. ... more   less
