Built in 1836 by Captain Rennie Tailour of the Bengal Engineers, this magnificent building became of the summer retreat for the royal family of Kasmanda in 1915. This hotel is truly a hidden gem amidst the plethora of hotels, resorts and B&Bs at Mussoorie. Right from our arrival till our departure, we were treated like guests of a royal family. The staff is superly courteous and take a personal note of the guests' whims and wishes. Each and every member of the staff, from the driver of the shuttle service to the Mall Road, to the restaurant staff, took great care of our stay.

The hotel is full of age old artifacts, photographs and tons of history from the days gone by that are truly a historian's delight. The moment you enter the hotel, the grand staircase and the ambiance literally transports you back to the days of royalty. Being aptly situated on the Mall Road, and yet away from the rush, the hotel is bound to leave you in awe. It is best you park your car at the hotel and utilize the free shuttle service that they provide to and fro the Mall Road. This is extremely convenient considering the elevated location of the hotel can be a challenge for most city dwellers to walk up to.

The Magnolia restaurant features great food and a great staff. The food is homely and conveniently priced. The Belvedere Lounge is awe inspiring with photographs, trophies and newspaper cuttings from the days gone by. The hotel also has an awesome garden that can host bonfire parties in the evening.

I cannot stress enough on the excellent service that this hotel offers. The next time you're in Mussoorie, stay at the Kasmanda Palace. It is truly a hidden gem at Mussoorie with impeccable service standards, facilities and staff ! It gets out 5 out of 5 !

We've been staying at Kasmanda Palace for several years, and were very pleased to see the renovations in the main building. The staff, some of whom we have been seeing on every visit for the past 10-11 years, is always helpful and pleasant. The newly-done dining room is spacious and well-lit, and the new sitting room/lounge is lovely. The heater in the lounge was also very nice when we were feeling chilled by the evening breeze!

The addition of heating and cooling in the rooms makes the room much more comfortable in the chilly evenings and early mornings. We also happily accepted the hot water bottles offered at bedtime.

The food in the restaurant is good, homestyle cooking, and the chef accommodated our requests that he use less oil and less spices, so our children also enjoyed the food.

The hotel staff arranged for our taxi to and from the airport, including getting the taxi to come straight to the hotel when we departed (taxis are not normally allowed on the main road, and therefore cannot normally go all the way to the hotel door - the hotel's own car is available as a shuttle to and from the point where taxis have to stop).

Room Tip: We prefer the upstairs rooms because they're lighter and better ventilated, with a great view of plains below. Our favorite is Room 14, right at the top of the stairs. It has 2 double beds and a couple of comfy chairs. The water pressure in the bathroom is not good, however. We also had Room 9, next door, as we were traveling with our 2 children, and the water pressure in that room was fine.

This was our first visit to Mussoorie and we had booked our rooms at Kasmanda Palace courtesy American Express Vouchers, redeemed against my Gold Card Points.

Though all the earlier reviews about this Hotel were good but you always wait to experience it yourself before giving a verdict.

I would say our visit to Mussoorie would have been incomplete, had we not stayed at Kasmanda Palace. Well appointed rooms, most courteous staff, good access from Mall Road, the food was extraordinarily tasty.

My choice of stay during my next visit to Mussoorie. Only suggestion to the hotel would be to give Wi-fi access across all the rooms which in todays time is a very basic feature available in most of the hotels.

Room Tip: We didnt get the rooms with the view of the Doon Valley but travellers should try to get these rooms

Thank you for taking out the time and writing such a warm and appreciative review about the Kasmanda Palace Hotel.

We are delighted to learn about your experience. Your compliments about the service and the food have been conveyed to the hotel team.

Thank you for your suggestion about the wifi in the guest bedrooms, but unfortunately being a heritage building our wall our atleast 3 feet thick and hence wifi cannot be offered in the bedrooms. However we have wifi in the Belvedere Lounge next to the restaurant and also in the outside sit out area.

We thank you for your patronage to Kasmanda Palace and look forward to welcoming you back soon !
