It is a Gothic architectural building. I celebrated my birthday at Fortune the Savoi on 20th July. Beautiful ambience of huge restaurant, perfect Indian & continental cuisines. Separated bar rooms. Worth staying…it is the best place to visit in Massoorie, Planning to visit again & again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter & nice view

The hotel is near yet so far from the hustle-bustle of Mall Road. You get transported into a different world once you enter this hotel! Beautifully restored this hotel has set high standards of service with each and every staff taking extra effort to make you feel special. Special mention of all the staff at the grand dining hall. The rooms, gym, lawns are all done up and maintained impeccably.
We look forward to visiting this place soon!

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are naturally better for a view..

The Hotel which has been restored, could have been done with a wee bit of finesse! Considering the old world charm & yet located so near the Hub of Mussoorie, there could not be a better located place than the Savoy. We were told about the mid-night visitor in the property, but were disappointed to see / hear any such reality in the story!!

Considering the fact that the Hotel will be getting more rooms / Banquet Halls, I am sure that the Fortune group would bring out the "total package" in bringing the Old World Charm to this Savoy of theirs!

Its a good idea to go by Train to Mussoorie, rather than the drive from Delhi, ofcourse if it can be avoided. Abundance of Cabs available from the Hotel for day trips. Over the years, Kempty Falls is a big No-No! Lal Tibba, can be disappointing, if you are expecting the Jungfau experience! Be satisfied with looking into the 70 odd years telescope with vision only in the right eye. The coffee should be had, minus the sugar, even if you donot have diabetes. Just busy your coffee with the Biscuits that you will buy locally in there. The Rokeby Manor which is not too far from Lal Tibba is the place you have to head for a Continental Meal. They know how to get their Bread right, as they bake them in house. Anything from the Soup to the "Jeu" they have it right by the book. Kudos to the Chef, whom I could not compliment personally!

Way back to Dehradun, if its the right Bhutta (Maize) season, do enjoy it, ask your driver to stop at some descent place & enjoy the scenery, while having one! Bobby Bhutta corner on way up from Dehradun (after a mere 20minutes up) even gives you so called American Boiled Corn!

Great place to relax, re-juvinate, if you are a foodie, look for some way-side places too!

Room Tip: If you need Twin Rooms, its better to ask the Hotel well in advance! Most of the rooms are Double Be...

Its quite a memorable experience to visit Savoy restored and opened last year in Mussoorie .It deserves to be in the top list of the best hotels in India for a very good reason. The Hotel is beautiful, elegant, quiet, exotic and a piece of history in itself. Once you enter in the property you feel the touch of history, beauty and Luxury. It is highly recommended Luxury hotel to experience a memorable stay in Mussoorie.
The entire premises are absolutely perfect - worthy of ITC tag. The lawns are incredible and the rooms are finest example of preserved piece of history and luxury of British era. The service is immaculate in all respects. The facilities are also amazing - including the Gym.

All in all - awesome service, picture perfect setup, excellent property, beautifully restored.

Loved it! It was worth my money and the services were great. Best luxurious and the biggest hotel I've seen in that city. The interiors are beautiful with a very modern concept too. I would love to visit this place soon again with my family next time. Keep up the good work!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The British have always needed their summer holiday resorts, and Mussoorie, like other hill-stations in India, was almost entirely an invention of the British. While Shimla became the summer capital of British India, Mussoorie became its pleasure capital. Located 34 km from Dehradun at an altitude of 2500 metres above sea level in the beautiful Gharwal Hills, it is one of the most frequently visited hill stations in India as it provides the perfect getaway to those who want relief from the hot, sultry conditions of the plains, especially since it is close enough to the capital to make just a weekend trip.Swirled in the mist of time, Fortune The Savoy is an elegant and historic hotel that was opened by Cecil D. Lincoln, an Irish barrister, here in 1902. Built in English Gothic architecture style and spread over 11 acres, Fortune The Savoy is a wonderful mix of old world charm and new-age conveniences, and promises to give its guests an unparalleled experience. With a regal history of more than a hundred years, the hotel has been delighting famous dignitaries and royalties from India and abroad with its heart-warming services and all the appurtenances of luxury. It is a place that has inspired famous authors and playwrights. Its 'Writer's Bar' remained famous for many decades after the independence of India in 1947. In April 2001, the hotel hosted its first writer's retreat, followed by another one in 2002, which included writers, academics, film-makers and people from other walks of life. ... more   less
