“Great place to experience”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

We stayed for 2 nights which was just perfect. Food maybe hexxy but food was amazing and I would pay that price here in Australia for food that was no where near as good. My child had an absolute blast throwing carrots to the elephants and zebras and getting sprayed with water from the elephants as a thankyou. He also loved the night time safari and so much so that we went again on the second night. He wanted to take home a meerkat and enjoyed watching the meerkats more than the lions. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this experience at least once. It is like to holidays rolled into one - Africa but at a cheaper rate and as I am from Darwin even closer to travel. Would come here again. Very relaxing and Spa was also very reasonable

Room Tip: Swala Room 110 has the best view but make sure you close your bathroom blinds if you don't want...

Stay there for my husband birthday because he wanted something different .. Unusual from other hotel, this hotel is located inside the bali safari park, when we check in, we were put in a lounge, and we can eat variety of snack and drink that provided for the hotel guest, the usual check in hotel usually only gave welcome drink, then the driver from the hotel pick us with a safari jeep inside, along the way, we can see a few animal from the bali safari park, the hotel room shape like a modern hut, and were connected by wood bridges just like in africa. The room is unique too, decorated like a modern hut, the view of the room is the zoo of bali safari park, there's a porch to sit down and enjoy seeing zebra, elephant. the bathroom got no bathtub, but nice, they put glass on top of the shower so we can see the sky while bath, open the curtain in the bath room, and see the animal while take a bath, and not afraid to be seen from outside. The guest hotel get a voucher to enter the bali safari park & and the theather inside, and 2 times picture (picture & frame) with the animal such as baby lion, orangutan, baby tiger. There' s a ride with the camel or elephant around the bali safari park. Enjoy feeding the elephant, the pool is average but we didn't try it because we were more interested to play with the animal.Overall this is a hotel that
we won't forget ,not too expensive and worth the money, and i'm sure children will love it

The resort is definitely a MUST to stay, but 3D2N is more than sufficient. The reason is the resort is quite remote, the safari park is quite small, and if you are not driving, basically you are trapped in the resort. The swimming pool of the resort is very tiny. Just stay for the experience and that's about it.

We went to the resort restaurant for dinner. The lions are only one panel of glass away from our dining table! The food is great and reasonably priced.

Night safari trip is a total new experience. I guess my bf enjoyed it much more than me, especially the part when the tiger jumped onto our truck. The tiger's saliva dripped onto us while the keeper fed meat to him. My bf touched the tiger's belly and paws. It is once in a life time experience for him

We loved our stay. Great overnight stay. Staff were great. Dinner was sooooooo delicious, yummo! We chose Balinese over western and were well rewarded, lunch too was delicious in the park but again Balinese. Bed was comfortable, my son was happy in his extra bed too. Room was spotless and had so much character. Awesome bathroom too. One staff in particular, cant remember his name but he took us to our room, explained everything in detail he was just sooooo helpful and we immediately liked him and other guests too commented on his outstanding customer service. You know who he is!! Pool drinks were great at the end of the day.
Overall another wonderful experience and a must in Bali whatever your age. Go and see the african animals close up.

The rooms were very attractive on the second floor overlooking the animals. One morning we were visited by the rhinos, zebras and wider beast which we threw the provided carrots to. The most fun was the night safari a ride in a steel cage with heavy mess to protect you. One of the tigers jumped on the top of the cage and sat there will we fed in several pieces of chicken and we touched their paws and stomach when they were busy eating.
If you are sensitive to noises while sleeping bring ear plugs because the roosters start at 5 am and they play lion roars every few minutes throughout the night. The spa massage was rated the best ever by a weekly massage expert.

The service by the lodge itself needs improvement. Despite of me writing to them 2 days before we arrived to confirm our airport pickup, no one turned up at the airport. When we finally spotted someone in the Mara River Safari Lodge uniform, we were told that our names were not on the guests' pickup list. It took us a lot of convincing to finally get ourselves on that van. That was a lousy start for the lodge.
We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights in the Kifaru family room which is a 2 bedroom suite.
The safari park was great but the lodge was old and dingy. Sure we are surrounded by nature, in a safari park, but it was extremely disconcerting to find 3 large cockroaches as soon as we checked into the room, and several lines of ants crawling on the wall.
I totally do not understand why the bathrooms are so dark! There is only 1 dim lamp above the toilet bowl, none at the shower. It makes it dim and uncomfortable to shower the kids under the lack of lighting, especially since we are in a Family Suite.
My husband joked that it darkness was probably needed to prevent us from seeing any creepy crawlies lurking around the wet shower areas.
The only saving grace was the beds. The beds were surprising comfy.
The service at the Lion restaurant was good. They were ever ready to seat us by the window so that we were able view the lions. But the food selection was very limited. After 2 days, we were bored.
My advice would be to visit the safari park and MUST do the night safari. But give the lodge a miss. With that price tag, one could stay somewhere more decent.

Stayed at the lodge for our last night on Bali and only wished we could have stayed another night. We had the tandala room which overlooked the rhinos & zebras, our 3 yr old son who is animal mad was so excited to stand on the balcony and watch the rhinos. Bed super comfy and really good quality linens that you don't usually find in Bali. As you relax in the pool you can watch the animals and the elephant treks. Great to be able to go in and out of the park. Staff where all very attentive and professional. Really can't think of anything negative!

Room Tip: Tandala suite gives you great elevated views.
