“A great way to see Bali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

We booked Bintang Bike tours on the recommendation of friends and were not disappointed! We had a fantastic day cycling through the villages of central Bali. Our 8 year old son was a little aprehensive about riding a different bike and cycling down hill at the start, but our guides were fantastic with him and really encouraged him the whole way. Our family of 4 was joined by another couple from Aus. We had 2 guides and we were followed by a van the whole way. Morning tea and lunch were great as were the stop offs at a coffee plantation and local home. This was one of our favourite Bali experiences! I would recommend this tour to families, as long as the kids are confident on a bike. Great fun!

“Incredible experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

This bike ride was incredible as we rode downhill mostly through Balinese villages, forests and other little roads. We stopped at the Luwak Coffee place and were able to taste different coffees and teas, then we stopped at a school where we hung out with some kids and had a lot of fun with them! We then went through a village and had a tour through a Balinese home and were told all the different traditions about the home.
After a long ride, we finished up with a beautiful lunch which was included in the cost.

Highly recommended activity.

“Fascinating day out on a bike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

Had a really good day out last week with our guide Poni. We had a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids of 10-14). We were picked up from our hotel and driven up to the start near the Danau Batur volcano. There was a stop off on the way to learn about some of the coffee production including a sample. The ride was about 40km long, but other than a few short sections it's all downhill. You don't need to be fit for this ride (one short hill and minimal pedaling required overall) and it was nice to spend some time in the cooler air away from sea level. The bikes were fine - good selection of sizes and all fully working. We were given water bottles at the start and they were replaced from the support vehicle around midway. The ride was almost all on tarmac, on quiet country roads. The driving in Bali can be a bit chaotic, but I found we were treated with respect by drivers and we were given lots of space. Felt a lot safer here than in the UK.

Poni was very knowledgeable, very amusing and spoke excellent English. He gave a bit of running commentary to things we were seeing on the road as well as a few side tours on the way down. We had a look at a local woodcarver, a very detailed tour round the rural home of his friend, an explanation about rice growing and a description of various templates and buildings we passed. All very informative and good to understand more about what we were seeing.

Had a really good lunch at the end of the trip. Great way to see the countryside and excellent value for money.

“Great way to see another side of Bali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Booked into Bintang with a little bit of apprehension because of a few bad reviews but the day was great. No complaints whatsoever. So reasonably priced for what you get and just such a unique experience.
You start the day with them collecting you from your accomodation, then to a coffee plantation where i discovered coconut coffee, amazing! you can but a cup of Luwak coffee there too for only 50,000rp, very good price. We had a guide there that explained the coffee making process and showed us all the different coffee plants on the plantation, was really informative and interesting. After that we went to a restaurant over looking Mount Batur volcano for some tea or coffee and banana fritters.
Then the cycling part of the tour began. Our guide kept close by so we felt safe and the 40km ride was mostly down hill so not too strenuous at all. On the tour we stopped at a traditional Balinese compound and cycled through the beautiful rice fields, once in a lifetime experience.
To top off the day we were given a gorgeous 3 course lunch before heading back to our accomodation.

Great way to spend a day in Bali and see a more rural side
