We couldn't fault our experience at Kusuma Sari. It boasts everything you could want in a villa: truly elegant decor, gorgeous swimming pool, discreet yet personalized service. We will definitely be going back! Wayan (who is Balinese and has also lived and worked in America) , went out of his way to make us feel welcome: rather than taking us on the 'standard' tours offered all over Bali, he cleverly tailored our excursions to our interests (a reputable art gallery, a tourist-free village in the mountains, an exquisite local jewellery dealer). We unhesitatingly recommend this villa to anyone seeking a stunning, peaceful retreat only minutes outside Ubud.

Great stay. Wonderfull staff, excellent food, full service. They even let us use their lap-top. Great rooms with in and outdoor bathrooms. The place and staff made us feel like being in paradise. The night market (so get up early) is amazing. We will definitely return.

The staff made me feel like I was the only person they had to service..although there were others at the villa at the time. they were so nice and gave me insight into the Balineese culture. taking me to a cremation and a museum tour. I have stayed there 3 times in the last 2 years.. Wayan gets you in places most tourists would never go.. Love it..

Five stays at VKS says something about how much we love it here. This is not a hotel but a private villa tucked away in the village of Sukawati which is a living, breathing, genuine Balinese village. Nothing touristy here. The markets are a short walk away and for a true peek into actual Balinese life, you must go shopping before dawn some morning. The villa is conveniently located close enough to Ubud and environs but also gives you great day trip access to the volcanoes up north, all the glorious temples nearby, the beaches of Sanur and even reasonable access to the craziness of Kuta and Seminyak if you need it. Each room(there are three, including the owner's unit) are situated in stunning landscape around a common pool. There are shared dining, exercise, spa pavilions as well. The staff is absolutely wonderful, accommodating and really tough to say goodbye to at the end of your stay. Breakfasts are included and made to order. Lunch or dinner can be arranged in advance. Daily linen service with housecleaning as well as nightly turn down. We will be back.

Aside from the comfort, picturesque environment and pleasant staff, the place is an oasis in the middle of real everyday Balinese life. You leave the gates and you bike or walk into peasant villages with rice fields and see the rustic life. Villages are on one side, a town with a market on the other. If you come to Bali for the waves, the beach, and the sun, Kusuma Sari is an essential a few day escape from those to become exposed to a different reality and have a pleasant stay in the shade of its trees and pavilions
