“Excellent villas and location”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

The villas are at the upper end of the market but the quality you pay for is exactly what you get. Rooms are large and well appointed, pools are a very good size. The restaurant is not expensive but not used a lot as most people go out or use room service, so atmosphere is poor - note that when we ordered in room the menu was good but not much was available and only one red wine was available too, what we had was very good but it was a disappointing experience. Wonderful complimentary cakes are delivered in the afternoon - if you don't eat them all put them in the fridge as they get removed next day. Daily room service etc is really good. Note that not all pools have steps so you have to lift yourself out - I couldn't so they switched villas for us fortunately putting us into a 4 bedroom 'palace' with 3 floors and a huge pool - with steps! Ask when you book if it is important to have steps. Breakfast is excellent and big; try the pancakes but don't expect to be able to eat all three they give you. The location is good for Uluwata and Kuta as well as various other attractions of Bali. The grounds are beautiful and really well kept. The staff are first rate, very friendly and extremely helpful. Expensive but you get what you pay for..

Room Tip: Ask for a villa with steps into the pool if you find getting out of a plunge pool difficult.

We were absolutely blown away by our beautiful villa. We booked a one bedroom bedroom villa, when we arrived they said we had the four bedroom villa but they would lock three of the bedrooms. It was huge.... 3 levels!! A large infinity pool. We got to choose our bedroom which was a surprise to the lovely staff. We chose the room two steps from the pool instead of the master bedroom upstairs. Overall Gending Kedis is totally awesome. The staff are so lovely, it felt like we were royalty. They think of everything and made our stay very special. Great restaurant, free transfers to local places and dinner on the beach was a lifetime dream. Nothing is a problem. AMAZING.

Room Tip: We stayed in villa 6... Don't know about others... Ask for Jelantik.. Meaning Bird Song

Overall e had a great time here and the villas were very well appointed and really nice. We'd booked a 2 bed villa, which was very nice if a little small, but when we got there we realised that the pool was a plunge pool with no access steps so my dad, who has a mild disability, wouldn't be able to access it. To be fair when we reported this they were great and upgraded us to a 4-bed villa, which was amazing. Because of this service and the quality of the villa I have to give it 5*, but I wouldn't recommend a 1 or 2 bed villa for anyone disabled, old or with kids if you want to use the pool.

The service overall was great and the restaurant/ breakfast was pretty good if a bit painfully slow at times.

One of the things I really liked about the whole place was that because it was built into a hill they managed to keep the privacy of the villas without the need for high walls, so there were lots of nice views over the adjacent little valley.

I stayed at the GK after 5 days in Seminyak. It's incredibly quiet, beautiful and peaceful. I stayed solo and felt very comfortable. I definitely will be back, but will bring some company as the hotel feels pretty romantic.

We really had no idea what to expect from Gending Kedis when we booked online from Australia (outside of the website pics which can often be completely different to the reality!), so it was a tremendous bonus to rock up in the evening to such friendly people, good service and a lovely villa. The design and feel of the place was so relaxing, and felt safe for our children to move around freely without bothering anyone or feeling concerned for their safety. Set in the rainforest and really peaceful, we were able to watch the sun set from our pool and occasionally see a Monkey in the trees. The bath was great, the beds were comfy, but most of all, the staff were lovely and very attentive to any needs. Our pool was glorious, and we received cakes in our room every afternoon. The common pool near the eating area was also an infinity pool and totally gorgeous.

Our free massage was great, and Abdul the head chef's guided tour of the local fish market followed by a moroccan cooking class was absolutely fantastic. Abdul was so patient with our girls and allowed them to be involved in the class, and then invited our oldest into the kitchen the following Monday to help him cook chocolate cakes in the commercial kitchen. It was a real highlight of our holiday for her. And for our youngest, who got to taste. The food was incredible, although it seemed a shame that there was very little of that food on the dinner menu. My only criticism would be that whilst there were delicious breakfast options for the rest of the family (a la carte but included in the room price) with pancakes, fruit platters, mango smoothies and bread baskets, as someone who is really picky about my eggs, they tasted different enough to me that I didn't like them. There was a multitude of egg options on the menu, but I would also have enjoyed some bacon cooked well. I think there could be some improvement in the menu and delivery of the restaurant in general, as the food quality varied depending on whether Abdul was there or not. It didn't really matter too mach as there were so many fantastic eating places nearby, and there was always someone on hand to drop you off to your restaurant of choice, and collect, free of charge.

The owner made time to get about and introduce himself to all of us, and when he discovered I was interested in tropical design, lent me some of his own personal books that contributed to the creation of the villas. It truly was a unique and special boutique experience in amongst a landscape of massive impersonal luxury resorts. We loved it, and will return.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs to get to places. May not be great for people with low mobility.

With so many enjoyable memories from previous visits to Bali and staying at the Gending Kedis Villas, there was no hesitation in again making this the preferred place for our annual trip.
As per prior stays, the assigned villa was spacious, beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable.
The staff servicing the villa, as with those of the front desk, spa and restaurant, were courteous, prompt, helpful...and always, service with a smile !
The management, being aware we were avid golfers, arranged an added experience for us...a trip into the mountain area of Bali and to play the oldest course on the island at Bedugul...great stuff !
We are already planning for our next "annual" to Bali and Gending Kedis.

We have recently returned from six nights at the Gending Kedis and absolutely loved it. It is the right combination of quality accommodation at a good price. We stayed in a one bedroom villa, which had a kitchen diner, lounge and balcony on the top floor, with the bedroom, bathroom and pool area underneath. More than enough space for two people. The villas are well equipped with pretty much everything you would need for your holiday. They are not of the very highest standard, but then again you are not paying Four Seasons prices either. That said, there is nothing wrong with them.

The breakfast on offer each day, which mainly consisted of eggs, bread and fruit, kept us full until an evening meal and is more than sufficient.

The service provided by the staff is superb and they are always willing to help you. The free shuttle to Jimbaran Bay is also handy.

Bali has so many choices when it comes to Villas, but from my experience the Gending Kedis is as good a choice as any.

Room Tip: We stayed in villa 19, which is down quite a few steps, but is quiet and secluded.
