“Beautiful quiet stay”
Reviewed 26 November 2012

I stayed at Flowerbud 2 for 4 nights. The bungalow is absolutely beautiful. I love the bamboo bungalow, the open patio and the outdoor bathroom. It is very quiet and tranquil if that's what you are looking for. It is 5 minutes walk to Balangan beach. The beach itself is much quieter than the other beaches.
The staffs were very friendly. Willey the owner is super and he responds to emails very quickly!
The area is rather far from everything else but if you are looking for a beautiful quiet area with nice waves, this is the place to stay.

We stayed in Bungalow 2 for 2 nights on our arrival into Bali. I would agree with previous reviewers, if it wasn't for the driver arranged by Flowerbud we never would have found it! The bungalows are cute, and comfortable. The outdoor-ish bathroom is a nice touch. As someone already mentioned the stones in the shower and sink look great but get a bit dirty! The staff at the restaurant were quite friendly but not overly forthcoming in offering advice for the local area. The restaurant food was tasty and well-sized and we didn't find it too pricey; the pool was great but in unfortunate timing had whining noisy children in it that parents didn't seem to want to control. The chooks were noisy but not noisy enough to keep us awake all morning, and the Tokay geckos are great - you definitely know you are in Bali when you hear them!

Again, I would have to agree, the walk down to Balangan Beach is not a nice one, there is litter everywhere. The beach is adequate for a Bintang and lunch at a quiet warung, but other than that, there is nothing special about it in my opinion. We also hired a driver from Flowerbud to explore Ulu Watu, taking in Padang-Padang Beach (don't bother) and Pura Luha Ulu Watu, which was unbelievably crowded but held a great Kecak performance.

If your heart is set on staying on Belangan beach I would definitely recommend this place, we had a relaxing, hassle-free stay there.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to reception and away from the restaurant may be a little quieter - chooks/roosters see...

We stayed in Flowerbud 2. Great rustic accommodation in pretty gardens, but if you venture out you are faced with piles of litter and, at the end of the dry season, an over exploited armageddon like landscape you associate with third world famine and poverty, gaunt cows hanging around waiting to be fed leaves from already stripped trees. The walk to the beach is hot and littered, steep and dusty, and if you are from Australia/South Africa/Seychelles you will not think anything of the beach. amazing surfing to watch while you have coffee at a third world beach warung.
Take your own bedside lamp and small mirror to Flowerbud (and Bali generally) as there is usually no effective light at the bed or at the bathroom mirror for makeup etc.. The rooms were so dark at night it was hard to find anything in our cases, let alone read in bed. You need slip slops to shower in as the river stones on the shower floor are too sore to stand on and ..er.. impossible to clean .... Bamboo shower is refreshingly cool, unlike the pool. Fabulous cheap cocktails at Flowerbud 1, which has a full licence, unlike FB 2. If you like a slightly soft matrasse, take a thin thermarest to FB and for Bali generally to slip under your sheets. Ditto for Flowerbud. Roosters from 3am and noisy Gekos in the rustic thatch shout "Geko! Geko!" at intervals through the long hot fanned nights, typical for Bali. Take top quality earlugs, and sleeping pills of your choice!!!

We really didn't want to stay in Kuta when we arrived in Bali so I was reading about the other smaller beach-side places and Balagan sounded relaxing and just what I was after. Flower Bud had excellent reviews and they did an airport pick-up which is what you need after 24 hours travelling. It's just as well that they do as I'm not sure how you would get here otherwise.

The rooms were absolutely beautiful with lovely touches such as flowers on the bed. The bathroom was lovely and outdoors which was great and the pool was beautiful.

The only thing worth bearing in mind is that Balangan Beach is quite remote so you would need your own transport to travel around. Although there are a few beer shacks on the beach, there's not a lot of choice for dining so you probably wouldn't spend that long here. The hotel have a fantastic driver who we really relied on to take us out and about including the 2 hour drive to our next stop -Ubud. He was fab and it made life easier although it did make it a more expensive stay than we anticipated as public transport is out of the question.

This was our first introduction to bali as we stayed here the first nights.

It was great, big pool, good food, close to the beach although you have to go via a small path. Maybe the hotel can make a better getaway to the beach.

Is a bit far away from kuta or jimbaran but it was worth it as this is a small paradise.

Me and my friend stayed at flowerbud 2 for almost a week in August (part of a longer stay) , the bungalows are tidy and beautiful, very close to the beach and full of nice people. I can 100% recommend the place and would go again.

We stayed (2 adults and 2 children 6 and 9 ) for 1 week in August .We had booked the family bungalow which has an upstairs and 3 beds . From the moment the driver picked us up from the airport tillthe moment we left was the most pleasant and relaxing experience .
Flowerbud 2 is a new development that sits just behind the original flowerbud we had lunch at the original and used the pool there but preferred the newness of Flowerbud 2 .The pool area and restaurant are brand new and are quite swish .Our kids loved the pool and used it all the time .
Our bungalow was quite spacious and had lots of relaxation areas . The shower was cold water only which we did not mind .
It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the surf at Balangan beach .
The staff can sort out moped and car hire.
We would definitely go back next year.
Top tip get some good ear plugs ! the cockerels start crowing at 2.30 am
