Beautiful compound and collection of small lovingly furnished bungalows.
8 minute walk to a perfect beach for swimming, surfing or relaxing.

The staff is very friendly.

We rented a scooter to explore the area; also check out other beaches more south and visit Uluwatu Temple (be aware of the monkeys).

I stayed here after 5 intense and super fun days at a surf camp. My intention was to relax and surf Balangan when I felt like it.

Service

The staff here are nice, friendly and accommodating. They are very helpful.

Rooms

I had a really charming bungalow. It was very well presented and quite romantic. I wish my wife was with me.

Cleanliness

No worries here. The bungalow was well maintained and cleaned regularly.

Location

Very close to Balangan Beach, but quite a distance from the main road. I remember riding the scooter for 12 min to get there. Having said that, it suited my purposes very well.

Value

I took advantage of a half price deal at AU$65 a night. I consider that very good value.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road are quieter.

We booked two nights here because read a lot of good review online, so we decide, yes let a try. We arrived there in the afternoon, and we want to check the room first before decide to stay longer or not. It's a nice and quiet place but boring. It takes 10' walk to the beach, 30' to Uluwatu by car, and far from everywhere. It's hot without air-conditioner at night but nice bathroom, so we decide just to stay one night instead of two nights, and it was a right decision. The food in the restaurant is good, a male staff that works at night in the restaurant is superb and friendly but the staff that served us in the morning is terrible. My friend who traveling with me got sick the day before, and she can't eat anything from the breakfast that available in the menu, so she decides just to want a small bowl of white rice without any meat, vegy, sauce, etc. to exchange with the normal breakfast (intercontinental breakfast that the resort offer) And what they bring out is rice with fried shallots. unbelievable! She can't eat because she can't smell of it when she is sick. The thing is when we check and pay for the bill from the restaurant when we check out, they charge us the rice that is their staff fault. It's not a big money for that rice, but we disagreed. Finally, the staff in the restaurant doesn't charge us for the rice, but she showed us an unhappy face. Maybe they don't pay attention for a customer much when the guest ordered their breakfast. It's a good place for people who want a quiet place to stay far away from the city, but the staff needs to be changes their attitude with their customers!!!

I stayed at the flower bud 2 for 4 nights and wished I could've stayed forever. It's a very relaxed, quiet, friendly atmosphere and the staff there are all lovely and welcoming. The bungalows are family run and they have done an excellent job of nurturing every aspect of the place. It's a few minutes walk to balangan beach. Or you can hire bikes with the hotel for a few pounds and ride to padang padang, uluwatu beach and temple. The food, pool bungalows and garden are all great. I missed this place the second I left.

This hotel is so good I almost considered not posting a review as I wanted to keep it a secret. We stayed at FlowerBud II.
Its lovely with balinese style bungalows. Its so quiet you can literally hear every single bird flying around and water running smoothly from your room. They have an infinity pool by the garden which is beautiful and you can see the most amazing stars from it during the evening. Beside the pool you can have a private massage with your partner and when it rains its lovely to just lay there letting the girls massage you while you rest listening to the water drops on the pool.
3 minutes walk to balangan beach which is one of the most gorgeous and secluded beaches in Bali. NO AGGLOMERATION of tourists and chinese wearing bathing suits and umbrella there, which is a plus! Lots of cheap warongs with great food.
This hotel was one of the bests ive ever stayed in Southeast Asia, and I've travelled a lot.
It makes it even more special as its run by a lovely family who just wants to make sure you are comfortable and happy.
They let us check out 2 days earlier than planned as we had friends to meet in seminyak and we are so very grateful. :) we are definitely coming back to this place and recommend it to all of our family and friends!

We stayed in Flowerbud II for 2 weeks in April '14. It was a second time here (2011) and we were not disappointed, in fact it was even better.

These are beautiful and basic and it's totally our thing and loved it along with the peace and quiet, it's like another world. You have plenty of space and we just loved sitting on our veranda with a Bintang being surrounded by nature. The bed was huge and very comfortable and had nets so we didn't get any bites. We had hot water in the bathroom which was a nice luxury.

The staff are a credit to the place, always warm, friendly and helpful. The pool is peaceful, quiet, clean and a decent size and we enjoyed several Balinese massages after a swim. Breakfast is substantial and tasty.

We spent quite a lot of time at Balangan beach, but used the flowerbud as a base to get elsewhere, hiring a scooter to travel along the bukit to Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Padang etc and then got a taxi to anywhere further afield such as Seminyak and Ubud.

Any negative reviews on this place must simply be because it's not their thing. If you need a lively place, would freak out at finding a frog or bat on your veranda and need air con, this is not the place for you.

Notes to management on a few very minor things to improve on:
1. The 'orchid butter' for breakfast toast tastes very strange almost strawberry flavored. We'd have paid for a premium for a 'luxury fruit salad' for breakfast which included strawberries and less melon. And having the option of 'poached eggs' would be great too.
2. Lighting in the bar restaurant needs to be warm and bright at night. The dull blue lights make it unappetizing so we did not eat here in the evening, we ate at La Joya.

Room Tip: Further away from the road, close to the bar - they are quieter.

We have just returned from 12 days in Bali visiting our surfer son who lives there. We stayed in Flower Bud 1 and it was brilliant. The bungalows are authentic Balinese style. There is no air condition system but the fans provided in the rooms were very effective. The staff are great very attentive and very friendly the pool is beautiful and the beach is a few minutes walk away. We had breakfast every morning and it was really nice. We also had lunches and dinner on a couple of occasions. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. We will return - its in a great location and if you want a more authentic Balinese experience it is just wonderful.
