I was going to write a long review because we had so much to say - but to keep it simple - stay here. Yes do it.
We decided to stay here on our last night to just relax and hang out before flying out. A perfect end to the holiday we had in Bali - it was perfect.
The distance is nothing - $2AUD in a cab - and cabs everywhere and the hotel will organise it for 50 cents extra lol Seriously, I am a value huntress and I looked everywhere for a place just like this with consistent reviews that I felt sure would meet our expectations - it did.
The food in the restaurant is very inexpensive, it is basic, but extensive choices. I read in a review below about the nachos - I had to order it just to count the chips lol Indeed there were only 5 chips (because it's obviously created by an artistic chef and was a fancy design lol) and felt it necessary to point out to 'Ms I want bigger portions and a paid a fortune' - the dish is clearly listed as a starter on the menu and at Happy Hour is the grand sum total of $2.50AUD, so I ate my five chips and substantial beans and salsa and drowned my 5 chip sorrows in my $4 Mojito - then just to make sure I was over it dived into the sparkling clean bar pool situated in a lush green leafy garden with fabulous views - of parts of the town and some lovely community farms garden.
Yes it's a bumpy road to the hotel - so don't spend all day on it. Spend it laying on your day bed, sipping a cocktail, order a room massage for two people - we did and the accupressure massage was devine - the one serious complaint I had was that we didn't book an extra hour because we didn't want to miss the nachos for $2.50 at happy hour ;-) Even if you price in a trip in and out every day this hotel was still MORE than half the price of anything guaranteed to be of such good quality.
the views in the lower room were great and I can't understand anyone having a problem. I loved to watch the doggies running through the garden way below and frolick as the sun was setting and the day was cooler for them. Yes it's not - lets get butt naked private - but only if you are convinced the guy from the house building site the equivalent of 4 blocks away had xray vision - I could only just work out what colour shirt he was wearing and certainly couldn't tell if he was wearing glasses. I would definitely pay extra for the cliff pool rooms - it's a feeling of openness and freedom and luxury. Not at all like the closed in Villas with a cement wall right beside the pool. And the chickens! Who doesn't like a chicken - they are gorgeous wee moos.
If you really want privacy outside, sink into the water to cool off and cuddle and laugh and then relax on the day bed with the curtains closed around you - still outdoors and have a lovely afternoon nap. Simply magic.
One thing that also suprised me was the quietness of the rooms - I woke up early and the room was very silent - but when I went to the outside bathroom - also just fabulous if I don't say so - BIG lovely bath, it was normal Bali morning noisy - including the wee moo roosters - yet close the door back into the room - and peace and serenity. aaahhhh the serenity. They must have double glazed the doors and windows etc. Very nice, 5 star touch. I have stayed in Hiltons and Hyatts that were not so good.
so all in all - we loved it - highly recommend it would be happy to answer any questions about it. Possibly the only negative was that the seafood on Jimabaran Beach was not so good - and certainly not as good value as some of the other places we stayed.
We only paid $126 for this room and considered it money extremely well spent. There were offers for $100 if you booked 3-5 nights etc) To get this kind of service even remotely close to the actual beaches or cliff faces would be literally 3-4 times the price. If we travelled to Bali again we would stay here without doubt and just travel to everywhere else locally on day trips - ie beaches, Jimbaran, Kuta, Double Six, Legian. Then maybe head up north through Ubud and stay on the East coast at the top of the island.
Just fyi Nusa Dua - completely overpriced compared to everywhere else. Even the exchange rates were signifigantly lower from 8800-9350 - when we were getting 9665 in Ubud. Market style shopping cheaper in Ubud and surrounds by a long shot - if you know what you are doing and can be polite start at maybe just 25% of their opening price - it's usually closer to cost price - but don't bother in Nusa Dua - their costs are actually higher to buy stuff in and rent etc.
just a wee fyi - the actual Nusa Dua beachfront - The Grand Hyatt looked absolutely beyond amazing - but the resorts next door looked positively 3rd world by comparison. The Bali Collection Shopping mall seemed a little pointless to us.
So basics were;
inexpensive restaurant with nice food - no extra charge for room service
extremely clean and comfortable
very good air conditioning
very good transport service - reasonably priced
impeccable service and caring
GREAT public and private pools
Great clean bathrooms with great water pressure etc
private, peaceful and quiet
great spa (in room service) - more expensive than street massages
