“Great for families.......”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

My husband and I spent two very comfortable days here. Huge resort, many pools, catering for a lot of people. Beautiful grounds and big comfortable rooms. The most impressive aspect of this resort was the breakfast. Truly international in standard and choice. Beachside restaurants as well as excellent in house dining. Dinner listening to the waves on the beach and my toes in the sand was truly magical. Very romantic.

Hotel grounds and facilities were beautiful, lovely gardens and water features, wonderful pools. Staff were a standout, ever helpful and friendly. Beautiful position on Jimbaran Bay next door to seafood restaurants. We had a wonderful holiday there.

We live in Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory so it's quicker to fly to Bali than to any of Australia's holiday resorts or other Capital Cities. We are in our 50's and enjoy the peace and quiet of a hotel like this. If your looking for night life then it's a Taxi ride away although the hotel has some light entertainment after dinner for a short period to finish off the night. We have stayed at the hotel on 3 previous occasions and whilst it's not as adventuresome as finding a new place each time, it saves having to have a wife who is not happy in another hotel for 10 days. The IHG have adopted a new marketing slogan "A place people will want to come back to!" and I can't agree more. It's a friendly atmosphere with great staff, great beds, the beach is spotless and whilst the restaurants' are fabulous (KO the Japanese Restaurant is Tokyo quality without the prices) there are other places that are a short walk along the beach that do excellent sea food at great prices. There are also a myriad of restaurant's a short (IRP30,000/AUD$3.00) Taxi ride just up the road. We cant wait to get back.

Just spent 2 nights here before heading up to Ubud. Had a king room which was extremely comfortable with a nice sized balcony overlooking the garden and lagoon. It is a large resort so it does take a little time to orientate yourself. Though our room was located in Building 2 towards the back of the complex it did only take us 5 minutes to walk to the beach.
We had dinner on the first night at the Sunset Bar and Grill. Don't bother. The restaurant has fantastic views over the beach and ocean but that is about all it has going for it. Food and drinks, though nice, were extremely overpriced. We paid equivalent AUD$240 for main courses only, bottle of sparklng mineral water and a bottle of NZ wine. There are other places to dine at in Jimbaran Bay which have better value.
Intercontinental though in general is a nice resort, with lovely and attentive staff, located a relatively short distance from DPS airport. The beach is extremely clean compared to the beaches of Kuta and Seminyak so we definitely recommend this property.

My husband and 2 yr old daughter has just returned from a wonder 6 day break at the Intercontinental Bali Resort. We had previously stayed as a couple at the Samaya in Seminyak but now as we were plus 1, we needed a more family friendly resort. The Intercontinental Bali was certainly that. We booked a club room but was upgraded to the club suite thanks to my Ambassaor membership. The room was spacious, albeit a little dated. The furniture was quite worn with obvious stains on the chairs and sofa but as we hardly spent time in the room, it wasn't a big deal.
The pools throughout the grounds was fantastic for families. The main pool is the biggest I've seen around and there were plenty of loungers and bales around. The club pool was more secluded and smaller but nevertheless was also beautiful. Staff were always attentive and often made sure our daughter was catered for. The only minor issue we had was with housekeeping - this was one area which a hotel of this calibre could improve. We noted that most days they'd undertake a superficial clean and obvious areas that needed attention eg. sand in the bedroom, half eaten fruit returned to the fruit bowl instead of being replaced. But once we informed our butler, they could not do more to address the issue. Overall the service was impeccable and much credit to the staff.

With the club rooms, the main benefit was the breakfast, afternoon teas and cocktail hour. All were enjoyed throughly but after 6 days, afternoon tea was getting a little repetitive but still it's a minor complaint. And finally, although we were on a relaxing holiday, the free and quick wifi throughout the resort and beach was wonderful. Kudos to the Intercontinental for that - other luxury hotels should take note.

Overall, a wonderful holiday and recommended for families or couples.

Room Tip: Club suite was lovely and spacious. More than enough room for a family of three but it's spread...

They say its the people that make or break a great hotel. My wife and son stayed here briefly before heading back to Singapore due to an emergency, and everyone at the hotel from the driver, to the reception, to the club staff was extraordinarily friendly, accommodating and helpful. Kudos to the GM, and his team for going above and beyond! We will surely be back as a family to stay in the resort shortly.
