Great place! Kim, the new manager, is really friendly and helpful. Our traditional styled bungalow was awesome and had a great terrace with a superbe view on the Bukit.
Make sure to rent a scooter at the hotel in order to be able to explore this awesome (and still pretty laid back) part of Bali, especially bingin' beach! Ask kim for the shortcut to go there, it will take you through an incredible unfinished luxury resort area which looks like a frozen disneyland!

I stayed for 2 weeks in one of the bungalows and had a great and relaxing time. There are a number of bungalows and rooms to choose from, I had the Mango Dream which was great as it was close to the cafe and common area.

The bungalow was very spacious and there's a mosquito net and fan so my sleep was completely undisturbed and cool. The bathroom was HUGE! I felt like a king in there. And the front balcony is really big as well, a great place to just lounge and enjoy the view. The staff cleaned the bungalow daily and kept everything nice and tidy.

My room came with breakfast which was always delicious. I had pretty much everything on the menu and it always came with fresh fruit juice and coffee or tea. There's a large selection of raw and organic breakfasts as well as cooked meals and energizing smoothies. The Mandala Omelette is a must! Breakfast is also served all day so no need to rush to wake up early.

The Yoga Shala is pretty nice but a bit of a trek up the hill. Kim (the owner) is a great yoga teacher and the view is amazing. They have several classes throughout the day and it's around $10/class but they also have special multi-class passes which offer them at a discount. A great place to practice early in the morning.

The grounds are a bit rustic but that adds to the charm of the place. Everywhere you look, there's love and care put into every little detail. From the charming stone paths to the little quotes and signs placed in almost every corner of the ground to the organic garden growing sustainable vegetables for the cafe, you can tell they really wanted to create a warm, loving and inviting space.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely be back soon! I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in South Kuta.

Room Tip: Ask for the Mango Dream Bungalow as it's closest to the cafe. Also, order the Mandala Omelette f...

The bungalows are in the middle of nowhere about ten minutes drive to Jimbaran Beaxh. You can't get anywhere without a scooter or taxi. The standard rooms are up a steep, stony hill a couple of minutes walk from reception. Our room was nice on the surface, but ipon closer inspection we noticed that it was FILTHY, with several kinds of faeces on the floor, bed and bedclothes. Our pillows got defecated on during the night and a strange yellow stain appeared at the end of the bed during the night. The roof is bamboo and obviously full of lizards and insects. We were supposed to stay two nights, but checked out after the first because we couldn't bear to sleep in the horrible room again.

Kim S, Manager at Mandala Bali Bungalow, responded to this reviewResponded 6 January 2014

Hello Emma,
Thank you for your honest last years report. My dearest apologies for your bad experience at Sunhill Bungalows.
The reason i am responding to you now is that the Hotel has changed management and name. We are now operating under Mandala Bali Bungalows with the mission to have all guests visiting to feel home away from home.
The Staff is trained to keep the place clean and tidy, the rooms have had a refreshing renovation and are now fitted with mosquito nets not allowing Balis wild life to interfere with a good nights sleep.

Mandala Bali wishing you a great start into the new year and perhaps on you next visit to Bali come by to enjoy one of our healthy juices in the Garden cafe, to see how the place is trasforming towards concious living grounds.
Kind regards
