My son wanted to spend a day on a beach and the staff at Damai recommended Jamahal, a nice boutique hotel and a short walk to the Jimbaran beach..
It is sometimes amazing what you can see inside a hotel after arriving at the entrance to the hotel via a busy street. Welcome is with frangipani garland and welcome drink that makes you feel like in Hawaii. The rooms were very spacious, good color combinations of the furniture, the bed linen, towels and their amenities are very nice like shower gel, conditioner. No restaurant though they have table for dining at reception. Meals in a cozy corner with garden view and being pampered by their butler gave a whole new experience for dining. All staff addressed us by our names and knew that we did not consume beef and pork. Jimbaran beach stretches miles with pristine white sand and the hotel has a beach club for its guests that makes it very apt for guests. My son just loved their swimming pool which was very unique. We stayed one night only which was very short, but hope to be back again.

My husband and I have traveled in January during the rainy season and thought a nice villa would make us forget the eventual bad weather.
The weather was indeed awful but our stay was beyond expectations!

1. Staff is the main asset of this hotel, all very friendly and talkative, very good English and taking initiatives (suggesting restaurants, bringing DVDs to our villa, proposing things to do etc..). they organized for us a trip with a flat-rate taxi driver who took us to the rice fields up north, we also visited the famous temple on the rocks, not far form the hotel, with him. And the next day, he took us to a local market where we could get some local souvenirs.

2. villas are gorgeous, spacious, in authentic Balinese style, with a lovely garden where you can have your breakfast table set up.
We have been upgraded to a pool villa after the 2nd night which was great! in case you don't have a pool in your villa, the common pool among the palm trees is a wonderful place to relax as well. very hidden and intimate with day beds and sun chairs where you can enjoy a drink before dinner.

3. breakfast is very nice too. As I said, you have it served in your villa and it is really tasty, eggs benedict, thai fried rice or ham and eggs and croissants, all matched with a fresh squeezed juice and a fruit plate.. you have whatever you like (order the night before).

4. location is fine, grocery stores just 10 m down the street and some nice restaurants in a short cab drive.

5. the beach isn't the greatest we have seen but we have to blame the weather and the strong storms before we went there. Although the staff was cleaning the private hotel spot on the beach every day (5 min walk) we could see a lot of waste in the morning.
The good thing about this beach is that in the evening you can have a bite or a proper dinner in one of those Balinese local restaurant. very cheap, clean and basic..fresh sea food, salad and beers makes a good start of the evening. Further down the beach you can go for a cocktail in a fancier atmosphere later on.

6. Spa: try the couples massage in the resort's spa. we felt wonderful after an hour of aroma treatment.

All in all, we had a perfect stay in a classy 5 stars boutique villas and in the same time we had the opportunity to see a little bit of the local life style.
Thanks to all the staff in Jamahal
We would definitely come back.

Room Tip: pool villa is great. garden villa is also beautiful and you can go to the common pool, it is almost...

the best holiday in Bali, thanks to this beautiful hotel. Private pool, open terrace, dining under the stairs in the privacy of your own little villa. Quite perfect. The spa was also inviting. Pity its not quite on the beach but its a pleasant walk away. would consider going again to this place.

Jamahal was a highlight of our 2009 Bali trip and it was such a joy to revisit this private little gem of a resort. We were welcomed like long-lost friends (although I am sure they must have had other people staying in the meantime) and nothing was ever too much trouble for the charming, smiling and attentive staff. This time we stayed in one of the new spa villas with a great garden and a big, beautiful pool. We had our delicious breakfasts served on the deck with Balinese song-birds fluttering all around us, and enjoyed the beach club tremendously - best beach in Bali. We'll be back!

This was the 3rd "Hotel" of our Honeymoon - We were upgraded slightly to a room which had a door from the private terrace to the main pool, stayed for 4 nights - wish it had been more.

Jamahal is very conveniently located around 10 minute taxi ride from the airport, though as we took the North/South package coupled with Damai Lovina which was around 2.5hr away from Jamahal by private transfer.

Upon arrival we were shown to our room and everything explained very clearly.

Room size and quality was very impressive as was the attention to detail and the quality of the staff.

Breakfast was pre-ordered the night before and was delivered and laid out on our terrace - as we were sleeping so well here this served as our wake up call at 9am!!

Massage included in the North/South package was amazing and thoroughly recommended.

Beach is around 300m away from Jamahal, easy walking distance but reception would arrange a car if we didn't want to face the heat on way to beach - beach club is small but the staff are very attentive - restaurants along the beach to the North around 200m are good value when compared to those another 300m North as prices more than double or triple for the same items.

Sunset on the beach is a must, beach comes alive in the early evening with local, fishermen, tourists all enjoying the evening - and if you are lucky you can see the Volcanoes in the distance - we saw it once in 4 nights.

Will definetly the back as soon as we can!

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms to be excellent, but if you want direct pool access or private pool specify...

This was the first time TripAdvisor let us down. These raving reviews clearly cannot be real! As a side note, if any TripAdvisor employee reads this please screen your reviews. If the IP addresses are all from the same place its likely fake!

My wife and I went to Bali for ten days. We wanted to experience as much as we could so we decided to stay in Ubud, Seminyak, and Jimbaran. We booked within the top five hotels for both Ubud and Seminyak, and decided to end our trip with the number one hotel in Jimbaran, which happened to be Jamahal.

Boy was this a major mistake!

The pictures are completely deceiving. They have pictures of a beach with luxurious recliners on their websites implying they are located next to the beach, when in fact Jamahal is actually located on a dirty slum road five minutes away from it.

Also, when you go to their "beach section" its literally a few chairs thrown around with a shack as a bar. It was so pitiful the $400/night I was paying seemed like the biggest scam of my life.

Now on to the room. The room was not bad, but not great either. We had a much better villa at our stay in Seminyak for half the price. The TV is about 15 inches, ridiculously small considering the low price of TVs today. No toothbrushes or tea. Lizards going through the straw roof. Outdoor, open-aired bathroom filled with so many mosquitos its hard to take a shower or use the toilet without constantly watching your bottom. BTW, the outdoor bathroom was not exotic or cool at all. With the hot and humid Bali weather using the toilet outside is VERY uncomfortable and inconvenient, especially with the bugs. Oh, and forget relaxing baths in the tub unless you want your face biten off by mosquitos.

Not much to talk about the amentities, because there are none. There is NO restaurant, NO bar, NO NOTHING! Jamahal only has a truly pathetic swimming pool (really misleading photos on the website) and a "lounge" the size of two family vans that serves as the check-in lobby, the office, the serving area, the breakfast area, and probably the place where many couples start calculating how much they got ripped off for.

Matter of fact, the couples that we did see looked truly upset and disillusioned. Shame on Jamahal for misleading people with their trick photography and descriptions.

If you don't believe my review, just call them and ask 1) Are you next to the beach? 2) What amenities do you have? (try not to laugh) 3) Are the bathrooms outdoors and do they have mosquitos?

Try the other resorts in the area for a similar or lower price. The ones we saw were Jimbaran Puri Bali by Orient-Express, AYANA Resort and Spa, and InterContinential Bali Resort. All of these resorts looked pretty amazing.

Anyone who was planning on staying here but changed their mind because of this review owes me a drink.

jimbaran is an authentic balinese village, with its more and less beautiful sights like every place. the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, to call it 'slum' is not only completely and utterly false - it is simply not appropriate and disrespectful to the balinese people.
we guarantee the authenticity of all pictures and comments on the jamahal website and truly believe in the importance of any guest comment, especially the critical ones as a motivation to improve our services.

however this particular reviewer's comments is so far removed from reality that it raises serious doubts on the veracity of the review and motives behind posting it - it seems false.
due to our resort intimate size we are in close personal contact with every our guest and are honestly not aware of any such case during the possible period of “this stay” nor have we received any negative internal guest comment. however in any real case of complete dissatisfaction we will even go as far as offering the money back!
nevertheless we strongly advise not just to follow any recommendation but also visit our original website where our location, facilities, room layouts and many more useful tips are sincerely mentioned.

herewith we’d like to thank the hundreds of genuine guest comments which are reflecting the value and performance of us and all our wonderful staff which will always go an extra mile to guarantee true guest satisfaction, thank you!

Jamahal has set the benchmark for me in terms of service and quality. The top notch experience already began during the booking process. For most other travels, I had to call up and arrange with the hotel to arrange an airport transfer. But this was not the case for Jamahal. Immediately after the booking, I was promptly asked my flight details for pick up.
On arrival, both the driver and a butler greeted my wife and myself with a fresh (nicely scented) towel, a garland of fresh smelling frangipani and a cool drink. The drive to the villa was a short one with the butler attending to all our (sometimes ridiculously silly) questions about Bali, Indonesia etc.
On arrival (we arrived way before the official check-in time), we were greeted by Dheeta who saw to it that we were able to check into our spa villa (as the previous guests had left earlier. Needless to say, the check in was done in the comfort of a sofa, with a cup of nespresso, freshly prepared to pepper us up...
One of my favorite elements of Jamahal is that it really appeals to our senses. Everywhere we went, we had a whiff of calm smelling aroma. We never quite figured out where this beautiful scent was emanating from....It was only on the second day of our stay, that we came to realize that Jamahal has its own unique scented oils which are 100% organic and made by themselves.
The villa was tastefully decorated in a perfect blend of modern and Balinese. We had a nice Gazebo in the garden where we literally spent a lot of time lazing around during the day and a decent sized pool to cool down when the temperature got too hot.
The food was excellent and the dishes all had an exotic touch to it (e.g. the Panna 'Non' cotta)...
The staff were accommodating, they knew our names and also made an effort to make us feel special.
An example was when I had a ayuveda massage. (A lot of oil went to my hair for this unique head massage). I commented after the massage that I looked like an Italian! What did I find on my bed the same evening when I turned in?.....A hair band with a personalized note,"Viva Italia" from the Manager herself.....This little gesture shows the level of detail Jamahal goes through to make us feel special.
Many thanks to all the people at Jamahal for the wonderful stay!
