“Um... the bathroom is where now?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

So, I paid something like USD25 (with breakfast) for this place, and frankly, it was worth every penny. It's located on a stretch of Kuta that's 5 - 10 mins walking distance to all the crazy clubs & crowds, and yet it's a quiet part of the street (it's directly on the main road and not down an alley like most places), which means a good night of sleep when you need it most! (ie: after partying hard).

It's basic and clean, and the service is ok. I had a room with two single beds, and it was comfortably spacious. I don't recall anywhere to put your clothes though, so you basically have to live out of your bag.

The room had a flatscreen, and wifi - yay! - (though internet in Bali is nothing to shout about so be prepared for slowness on smartphones/laptops).

Hmmm, the bathroom situation is interesting. It's not attached to the room, but everyone has their own which they open with a key. Mine was right across the hall from me. So the toilet and shower is private, but you share the sink with your neighbor. All-in-all that's not too bad except that you need to lock your door and unlock your bathroom door when you need to pee in the middle of the night, which is an interesting prospect if you've had a bit to drink and are half asleep.

Breakfast is a hoot. There's no choice. You just eat what they give you. I was only there for one night and my breakfast the next morning was stir fried noodles with an egg. It was actually pretty tasty.

Things to watch out for:
Noisy people. Sound carries like crazy in that place.
Calling the hotel is a bit of an adventure because it is actually the budget arm of Villa de Daun, and the calls all go to their desk. Confusion usually ensues before your caller is actually put through to your room.
There are no late checkouts. In fact, the front desk called me on checkout day at 9.30 when I was still in la la land to "remind me" that breakfast ends at 11. I think it was their way of saying "you better be ready to leave at 12". I then got another call at 11.55 to "remind me" it was time to check out.

In conclusion: I wouldn't do it for more than a night, maybe two. If you want to be near Kuta's party places, it's a decent option. The beach is pretty far away (25 min walk) but the clubs are close.

A nice, basic and simple bed and breakfast that's really value for money. Stayed in the deluxe twin and the bedroom is big enough for two. The breakfast is good although it's really basic and simple but given the abundance of restaurants and shops nearby, that isn't really an issue.

Didn't have any problem with noise, so i'm not sure if the people who stayed there the same period as i did were really quiet or the previous reviewer just happened to be placed next to some obnoxious guests. Location is very near the Ground Zero Monument so there are plenty of clubs nearby. But i didn't hear anything and slept peacefully every night.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped us arranged for drivers/supirs and even gave some suggestions as to where to go and what to do. Checkout is at noon but luggage storage is available and the staff wrote down what we had exactly (down to "1 circle k plastic bag") and gave us a tag for the luggage so it was very safe leaving things with them. Will definitely come back.

For the price that we paid, it was worth it.
Nice and clean room and accessible from the shopping and restaurant area..
Service staff was of great help, having been trying to help us connecting to the wifi.

Room Tip: Rooms on Level 2 nearer to breakfast area will be ideal

We stayed here for 5 days, 4 night and we booked 2 room.
The triple room is very spacious and comfy. Suitable for 3 person to sleep there
The deluxe room with bathroom ensuite also nice, but little bit smelly
Even though the hotel located in legian, but its not that noisy.
Their simple breakfast was also good

My partner and I stayed 3 nights at Tanaya and it was terrible.

When we first got to our room we couldn't believe how small it was. No place to put our luggage and no closet to hang our clothes. Inconvenient but not the end of the world. We thought we would have a rest before going out, but soon discovered there is practically no soundproofing to the room. The person in the next room decided to crank their bad techno music up LOUD and slam their doors. After an hour of this and other noises from the hallway we went down to reception to see about changing rooms. We told them of the music in the next room, and were told to wait while they asked the woman occupant who just happened to be going out partying. We were awkwardly standing right there when the woman denied it and walked off saying we need to get our facts straight.

The guy at reception said they did have another room available, and helped us move our stuff there. There was a slight odor when we first got settled, but at times during our stay the smell got intense, like an airplane toilet. Gross. At all hours of the night, groups of people would be yelling and laughing as they came back from partying. I've stayed in plenty of backpacker hostels, but this was way worse than any of those. Neither of us got a decent night's sleep.
Staff were nice, and the wifi was good, but unfortunately I can't say anything else good about Tanaya.

We stayed 2 night in Tanaya, I didn't expect we can have so comfortable and tidy stay in Kuta cause Kuta is mad. The location was excellent for people who like to hang around on Legain street or nearby. Breakfast is not very special, however you can enjoy it at balcony with the view on street. Staffs were all helpful and polite. The only one disadvantage is bathroom/toilet was a little bit moist and small, however it is already nice you can not ask more on this price

Kuta is mad, and when you've been travelling for over 24 hours the last thing you want is a dodgy hostel / hotel and as a result Tanaya was perfect, especially for the price. Rooms were clean and modern and the hotel was very chilled, which is nice after fighting past the hawkers / mopeds / cars of the main streets, Poppies I & II .. Overall I'd definitely recommend especially if you want a touch of western normality! Would have loved it if it was a bit closer to the beach - but beggars can't be choosers.
