“My Kutu Escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2014

A highly recommended Hotel by my Bali guru mum, who has stayed there many times. This family hotel allows you to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Poppy 1 Kutu but once you walk through the front gate, instance relaxation, with 2 refreshing pools and well appointed rooms. The rooms have the icy cold aircon, a decent fridge and comfy beds, who can ask for more. The Breakie is wholesome and filling and staff excellent. Great place to stay in Kutu.

Room Tip: Rear bottom rooms are my choice but all rooms do the trick.

Stayed here over Dec 2013/ Jan 2014, absolutely loved it, the staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are very well kept, there are two pools, and although there are a few rooms it is never really busy as people are always out doing something, we stayed in a couple of different rooms during our 2 week stay, both were great, the place is not brand new but for the money it is incredible, they even have multi continent wall plugs that saves hassles with convertors. Pool was a great temp and nice and relaxing with towels always available. AC worked great, TVs are a little older but still do the trick, with heaps of channels. Look forward to returning in future.

Breakfast is amazing, and the location is great, it is a quiet little oasis on Poppies one in Kuta, so plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, markets, dvds, etc all at great prices right outside the front of hotel. The little mini mart straight across have everything you need as well. Great place to stay. Thanks again.

Room Tip: Great quiet place on a busy street that has everything you need.

Arrived late but welcomed with smiles. Stayed in family room at front of hotel so not much sleep that night as very noisy however our request for different rooms was filled and they were much quieter. Yes, the bathrooms need renovation but found everything very clean and the staff lovely.
Would recommend this hotel for close to everything (especially beach) yet quiet. Mind you, we were there the first week December so Xmas yahoos not yet arrived.

Breakfast was great, kept us going well into the afternoon.

Room Tip: Not the family room above reception!

I love the Masa Inn. It is probably the best value decent accommodation left in Kuta. A tranquil haven in the midst of bustling Kuta. We stayed in a Bali room with our 12 year old and the room was lovely. Large and quiet with a nice balcony and a comfy bed. The pools at the Masa are great, clean and big and not too crowded. Breakfast is limited but delicious and adequate. My only criticism is that our shower was terrible and needs upgrading. For about 50 dollars a night who can complain though? I prefer the older traditional hotels to the new fancy high rise. The Masa is true Bali as it used to be, So close to shops and restaurants...just lovely

I had a 3 or 4-night stay here each time every month between Dec'12-April'13. Reservations were fuss-free through their website and the pick-ups they arranged for me from the airport were always punctual. It's not a luxury resort, but very good value for money. I always book for one but get either a twin or queen size bed. You would have to bring your own toiletries but otherwise, the rooms were adequate and functioned well, including the free wifi. They provide bottle of waters in the room fridge, which they restock everyday when the room gets cleaned. The air freshener they use can sometimes be overwhelming but it's not a major problem. Breakfast is buffet style only on Wednesdays and Saturdays, on other days you get to choose a few items off the menu.

Very convenient location in the vibrant Kuta beach area, yet tucked quietly in a corner of Poppies Lane II. Money-changers, mini-marts and restaurants abound in the area. What kept me going back is the vibe in the inn; there's this very friendly atmosphere that you just won't find in big, luxurious hotels even in a place like Bali. Not only do the staff greet you cheerfully but fellow guests very friendly as well. I once sat at the patio of this other guest's room, chatting with her for the longest time.

I prefer the rooms in the block facing the main swimming pool. Very convenient to swim or sunbathe if you choose a room in the ground floor, but that can noisy with all the guests walking past wheeling their luggages. The view as you sit outside on your room on the second floor with a bintang is nice as well, and it's much quieter.

Have stayed at the Massa Inn several times. It is a very freindly hotel, cleanand serves a great breakfast It is the best value in or around Poppies. Trnport can be arranged by the staff. There is agreat laundry opposite the hotel. There are two chemist shops within 100 mtrs.

Room Tip: If you are with a family or group. Choose the front area.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

We booked Masa Inn after reading the good reviews but we were disappointed. We stayed in the family room (right above the reception) for 2 nights in June. The room had a double bed and two single beds. Air conditions were working well but the room including the bathroom was dirty. We found a dead cockroach in the bathroom. On the next morning, we found another cockroach but this one was alive, crawling around in the bathroom. There were two chairs and a table on the balcony but they were also covered with dust. We had to use a towel to cover it before sitting on it. Towels and bed linens were old and yellowish. The pools were nice and breakfast was average. As the reception was next to the lane with many shops, we did not get any quality sleep as we were awaken by noises and people laughing loudly in the middle of the night. Service of staff was good. Overall we would have enjoy our stay if we are given a cleaner room and a room away from the reception.

Room Tip: Never get the rooms above the Reception !
