“Another Perfect Stay”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

I stayed here for 10.5 nights with my girlfriend.
Booked directly with the hotel which I have done previously.
This was my 4th stay here and will not be my last.
This is a great find and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
All of the staff are beautiful and well mannered, special mentions to Emi on reception and Made in the restaurant. Miss you both heaps.
Great food and service here.
Rooms are spotless and made this way every day with special towel creatures left on the beds daily which always puts a smile on your face when you return from your adventures.
Beautiful pool, we always stay on the ground floor so it is just a few steps to this beautiful cool pool. Towels are always supplied in your room.
Breakfast is buffet style, great coffee machine.
I have read a couple of recent bad reviews which I am quite surprised by. I feel this is a great hotel and have never had any problems here.
Look foward to our next stay.

Check-in took a very, very long time. Reception staff are not very friendly or communicative.

This hotel is in a good spot and is well-priced. The pool area is nice, as are the room furnishings. The bathrooms are quite old, although everything works as it should. The breakfast was average at best.

The airport transfer service is only one way (and free!), but despite booking it the day before, the driver was nowhere to be seen when we were ready to depart. Fortunately he appeared in time for us to catch our flight, but there was a tense moment or two...

I'd recommend this place for a budget stay amongst Bintang singlet stalls and cheap salons, if that's what you're after, although for the price you might be able to find something a little nicer.

Dear "Annelies A"

Thanks for your transit stay earlier this month and taking the time to review the hotel.

I am sorry with the long wait during your check-in which shouldn't have happened if your early arrival time was submitted with your online booking. Without information for estimated arrival time, the hotel assumes a 6 pm check-in being required (this information is outlined in your booking website). The Receptionist was trying to explain this but unfortunately her communication skills were not sufficient to make you understand.

As check-out time is at 12 noon, the housekeeping needs a couple of hours to clean & refresh the room for the next guests (this is also in the hotel's official site). Although we do make efforts to avail room earlier (whenever possible), you must submit your arrival time when making your booking so that necessary arrangements can be made earlier ahead.

Despite the above, your positive review for the hotel being of good budget in a good spot with nice pool and room is noted with thanks. Please come back to see our new rooms and breakfast set-up in near future as we are currently upgrading facilities to make the hotel to be more comfortable but without any significant price increase ;)

Sincerely,

Paulus Wibowo

I can't believe that this hotel would be no. 8 on tripadvisor's hotel ratings for Bali! It's an average hotel, and the only reason I gather for such a high rating, is because of it's very low room price.

Booking -

We booked through expedia, which gave us a cheaper rate than what was available on the hotel's own website. We only booked for 1 night, since we just wanted to sleep after a flight which got into Bali late at 10 p.m We paid about USD 45 for 1 night, which included taxes and breakfast. This was of course the prepaid and non-refundable rate.

Arrival and Check-in -

we arrived very late to the hotel at 11.45 p.m The reception staff leaves by 11 p.m, so you must inform the hotel through email that you will arrive after 11 pm. At this time of night, the security guard will check you in. So, we arrived at the hotel at 11.45 at night, and it looked closed from the outside! There were no lights anywhere, and the atmosphere was dark and dinghy and very very putting off. We immediately regretted whether we had made a mistake by booking this.

By what I could make out, there are no doors, and there's just a small flight of stairs that leads up to the very small and open reception area. There was just 1, only 1, security guard at night. How safe is that?

But would you believe - this security guard who checked us in, was the most friendly staff we encountered in the full hotel! He was a nice middle-aged chap and checked us in with the help of a watchman, who was also a nice chap, again middle-aged. So that was the whole security situation of this hotel.

Anyway - so our reservation was found easily and a room allotted just behind the reception facing the small pool. It was so dark, that we hadn't notice the pool until we looked behind, and there it was - Green garden's swimming pool. Small and nondescript. Well...

Room -

and so the guard gets us into the room with our luggage and there was light! The first sign of light we have seen ever since we got off the from our taxi into the foyer of the hotel. It was a decent size room with a King bed, and upon the bed were the towels shaped into cute little rabbits I think. Nice gesture. LCD TV with lots of channels, remote air-con which we switched on, and the room cooled in about 10 minutes. 4 pillows provided.

It was an old fashioned kind of room, nothing fancy and not very well furnished. But it was clean. The bathroom was also quite old with floor tiles etc. There was a big refrigerator in the room, 2 bottles of water, room safe, a long sofa, We just watched TV for a bit to orient ourselves with Bali, and then went to sleep.

Breakfast -

was a small, but good spread. There is little fruit, excellent soft plain croissants, an egg station with a friendly chap making eggs, a coffee machine with 6 kinds of coffee, and another few dishes which had some chicken and some veggies etc. The buffet is laid out near the entrance of the hotel, in front of the reception, so you can basically watch the traffic go by on the street outside.

Renovation -

There was some reno work going on while we were there, and it really became noisy when we were leaving the hotel at about 10 a.m We also got a good look at the pool now, and its really right there, right in the open, so I would suppose that ladies would find it uncomfortable to swim or lounge openly, as all the staff is walking around, not to mention all the guests who are checking in or checking out with bag and baggage!

Location -

is very good on jalan kartik plaza, with PT Kuta central money changer just next door, and it sure was a favourite with the Aussies! Well - the staff at 2 of the PT Kuta Central's we used - this one and another one opp the Matahari mall - were also only pretty much interested in serving their Aussie clientele. They were totally rude with other Asians that I saw, and were quite indifferent to me as well when I was changing money. But, they gave a decent rate, and will not cheat you from what I have read on the Bali forums.

Waterbom park and Discovery mall are also about 10 minute walk. Just turn left when you come out of the hotel and keep walking straight.

Sulis Spa -

Hopeless staff girls - Grumpy is the correct word - attitude, arrogance... for what?? Do not give proper information as to rates, prices. So we just avoided it. There's a better massage place to the right of the hotel - turn right as soon as you exit and walk maybe 50 meters - its on the same side of the street - you have to climb up 2 or 3 stairs and then enter the parlour - and its huge from inside and always busy.

Or, could try the febri's spa, which is owned by the same green garden group. But febris is expensive, though the experience was very good, clean and relaxing.

Check-out -

The lady at reception was absolutely disinterested in checking us out. Took a while, checked our rooms on the walkie-talkie - yeah sure, like there was a mini-bar in your room!

And it was raining, and the boy at the bar, wearing a checked shirt, refused to call for a cab or help with our bags. I wrote an email to the management, and they can look into the staff behaviour. The lady at reception and the guy in checked shirt at the bar.

No help whatsoever.

At USD 45 a night, you do get a decent room in a good location with a small but adequate breakfast. Better check regarding the security detail at night - its too open, too dark and too dim. The staff also needs to change their behaviour.

Take your pick!

Room Tip: There's no lift in the hotel, so if you don;t want to climb, ask for ground floor rooms

Dear "RainmanMumbai" of India

Thank you for your stop-over stay with your family 2 months ago and reviewing our small hotel in great details.

I am sorry to learn that you felt our hotel was not to your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the spa girls and the receptionist who failed to impress you with their service. Do rest assured that their service and vigilance will be improved especially in raining time as during your check-out day before Christmas.

Being a small hotel with budget price, unfortunately there are limitations in what we can avail as compared to a bigger resort. Facility details are extensively outlined in the hotel's official website and they should have been observed prior to confirming your hotel stay.

Despite the above, I am pleased to learn that you also made many positive reviews with the general hotel facilities. Your review for the hotel to be of good value was much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Paulus Wibowo

We just spent 13 nights at the Green Garden at must say the experience was excellent. We will be staying again when we visit Bali next. We stayed in a Family room and was pleasantly surprised on the size and cleanliness of it. Flat screen Tv and a Full size Fridge. Beds were made and rooms cleaned daily. Loved the towel presentation on the bed each day. The staff are a breath of fresh air, Happy and are always smiling. Always made our kids feel like family. Good size pool and we always had a sunbed. Breakfast is more than sufficient and a good array of choices. Some renovations going on but always kept noise to a minimum and never bothered us once, after all they have to renovate at some stage. Over all this place is amazing and I would recommend to my family and friends.

Room Tip: New rooms located down near the end of the Pool.

love this hotel.
Staff are all excellent - they remember who you are, and nothing is too much trouble.
Rooms are cleaned daily, as are the grounds and the pool.
Pool is plenty big enough for the small number of rooms, but you can also use Febri's pool, 2 minutes up the road.
Meals are good value, and room service is quick. The buffet breakfast is great - all you can eat, bacon, eggs cooked to order etc (bacon is 4 days a week - we will get them to 7 eventually, but there is still ham). Breakfast is available to 10am, so it was great for my late-rising teenagers.
Louvre roofing recently installed to let the light in during the day, but can be closed to keep the rain out.
Spa staff are excellent, and the rooms are kept quiet for a good experience.
When we stayed in January, renovations were occurring on the path around the pool. This was next to our room, but every day they wouldn't start until 10am, and we would always get a courtesy call from the staff advising that it was about to happen. The noise wasn't too bad anyway, and renovations have to occur sometime.
While there I mentioned batteries in an aircon remote (replaced immediately), and my daughter's air con stopped working one night. Engineering arrived the next morning and fixed it without a problem.
Have booked again for next January.

Simple hotel, good massages, very clean but older style. Had an issue with hot water and pump leak, fixed in no time. Would i stay there again. Yes if on a budget!
Beautiful happy smiling staff. Always ready to serve you.
Only downfall was receptionist not able to book us a car to our next hotel and will only drive u back to airport. No big deal but put a damper on things!

Dear "bali lover A"

Many thanks for responding to my message. Your stay at the hotel from 5 Oct for 2 weeks and feedback were much appreciated.

Indeed, our budget hotel for a long holiday can become boring if you were spending all your activities inside the hotel. Being a small budget hotel, our main mission is to provide a clean and comfortable stay with friendly service (as you have addressed in your review). Although the hotel has its own pool, guests at Green Garden can use the swimming pool facilities at the adjacent Febri's Hotel with no extra cost (this larger hotel is under the same management). This information is outlined in the directory card in your room. I wonder if you had used Febri's facilities during your 2-week stay here.

The hotel provides a complimentary transfer to airport after guest's check-out (as outlined in the hotel's official site). Transfer to other destination can always be arranged through the hotel reception but this is not complimentary.

You are correct that the hotel felt older style during your stay. In addition to the new hot water systems during your stay, some refurbishments are in place as part of our ongoing rejuvenation program to improve the hotel facilities.

With this opportunity, I'm pleased to announce a renovation project at the moment with the restaurant front and roof above the hotel entrance because of the fire accident which burnt down the supermarket next door just before the New Year. Only by God's grace that the hotel escaped from that fire inferno with only minimal damage. The entrance and the restaurant will have a new stylish louvre roof while the hotel interior still maintains a traditional Bali ambiance.

Wishing you the best with 2014 and we hope you will return to stay with us again shortly to experience our new look.

Sincerely,

My stay at this hotel was nice. Despite not in Kuta centre, the walking distance to Kota centre is not too long. The hotel has a nice, and with a wee bit small swimming pool. Massage service was great here. One thing needs to mention, a neighbour building caught fire in one evening, staff knocked the door of each room, and evacuated guests soon. They apologised the next morning even if it is beyond their control. Very satisfied with their professionalism.
