We arrived at Green Garden Hotel just after 1.30pm - our room was not ready until 2pm however we were able to be checked in and given a welcome drink. Charges were in US dollars - we had rupiah and the exchange charge rate was rather high so I recommend payment in USD where possible as we ended up paying considerably more ! I had booked direct with the hotel online and after reading other Trip Advisor experiences we requested an upstairs room away from noise. We were given room 234 on second floor. The room is spacious and very clean - bathtub, toiletries, plenty of clean towels, coffee/tea making and an extra large fridge, room safe and flatscreen tv. The bed was comfortable and balcony overlooked the pool and restaurant, There are some renovations happening, however these were no issue for us. The building next door had workers starting as early as 7am some days but again no problem. At night there is some road noise and the music from the restaurant. THe hotel is very good though- music finishes at 10pm nightly and the pool fountain is stopped then as well.
The hotel is at the southern end of Tuban on the busy main road with no beach access. Its a smaller hotel so all rooms overlook the pool. If you like quiet I would not book a lower ground pool access room as swimming is permitted until 10.30pm. To get to the beach you need to go through Discovery Mall or turn right outside the hotel and walk up until you reach the markets street,,,,then walk down to beach. Its about 5-10 minutes.
Breakfast each morning is buffet style,. Bain maries of hot dishes which change most mornings and include two indonsian dishes,. A mixed fruit selection, yoghurt, toast, jams, butter, croissants as well as an egg station where you can get freshly made omelette, fried eggs etc. There are three cereals - but sugary Bali style ones. Juices dispensed in machine as well as iced coffee and milo - all very sweet and sugary. Coffee is from a machine- nescafe black, with creamer or moccochino - not great but acceptable. No Bali Koffee - it would be great if the hotel could offer pots of fresh Bali coffee and fresh tea to guests. Other hiotels do this and it would have been a great alternative.
We ate out eat night so did not sample the meals apart from breakfasts, however what we saw others eating looked very good,
Staff were friendly and helpful. We loved coming back to the hotel after the frantic pace of the streets - and this is off season at the quieter end of Kuta!!! We found the four nights were enough for us as by the last day we had had enough of being hassled and hustled along the streets. There are several fixed price shops close by,...Dianne Shop and Jennys being two of them for those who prefer to shop without haggling. Overall we loved our stay at Green Garden. Downside - its not beachfront, and the hot water can take some time to warm up, however cleanliness was of a high standard and we really felt comfortable here, Highly recommend and would return.
