Stayed at Poppies for 3 nights on the way out of Bali. It was fantastic. The bathrooms are clean and the sunken bath excellent, It was our favourtie hotel out of the 4 we stayed at but not the most expensive. the Laundary service was incrediabley expensive and not recomended. Our flight was after midnight and we where able to use the hotels facillities for the day then had a free transfer to the airport. The pool was lovely especially at night.

An amazing oasis in busy Kuta. Great gardens, amazing pool, great food. There not much of a view - but then you're in Kuta. 10 minutes walk from the beach is worth it for this place

We enjoyed 7 nights at Poppies in July 2009. This was our sixth trip to Bali and our sixth stay at Poppies. We wouldn't stay anywhwere else. It has all been said before but worth saying again. The grounds, the staff, the cottages and the restaurant all comnbine to make a mix that is hard to beat. From the minute you step out of busy Poppies Lane into the tranquility of the cottages and surrounding gardens you feel like you have found the Shangri-la. Staff welcome you back like family and are genuinely delighted to see you again.

Balinese love children especially and our children have been going to Bali since they were babies. This was the first time we had two cottages. We were quite comfortable that our 11 and 13 year old had their own cottage The cottage was located just accross from our own and was just around the corner from the pool which the kids loved.

Poppies has security day and night at both the cottages and restaurant.

We also spent some time at another property in UBUD and this was booked with Poppies also. It is called Villa Melati and this is an experience I would thoroughly recommend. I will put a full review under UBUD but suffice to say it is a MUST DO! Stunning views and stunning villa.

Back to Kuta... we gave the beach a miss except for the sunset experience on a couple of days and also to get my daughters hair braided. It was just so nice at the pool. We often ate lunch there - it comes across from Poppies restaurant. We also enjoyed massages daily. Massages can be arranged via reception and charged to your room. Current rate when we travelled was 70,000 rph per hour. We had Sri massage us and this was the third year in a row with her. She is wonderful.

We used room service most days for breakfast and we are still dreaming about the eggs benedict. Papaya and Bananan lassi is also a favourite.

We also ate at TJ's and the Havana Club which were just down Poppies lane. Both were good. La Luciola at Seminyak is great for breakfast and sunset drinks.

Our activies out with the children included a wonderful bike ride titled Bali Baik which was on the back roads around the UBUD area and finished with a wonderful lunch at their family compound - unforgettable. http://www.balibike.com/ This was a very easy ride (or should I say coast) as you are gently going down hill for 95% of the ride.

The children also enjoyed Bali Bird Park, Elephant Park at Taro and Water Bom. These activites apart from Water Bom were done while we were staying at Villa Melati where we had the convenince of our own driver and no Kuta traffic to negotiate. We also enjoyed a Barong Dance while in Ubud.

I am sure you will enjoy a stay at Poppies in Kuta.

Have already booked for September. For years we have search for that special place where we would love to return & Poppies is that place. From the moment you are greeted at the airport, you feel like you are returning home.
We have nothing but praise for the fantastic staff, from reception through to the bar staff (Kadek, Rico, Kopi & Jeffery) the pool attendants, the garden staff & cleaners. All have helped make our previous stays an absolute delight.
As with past posters we can offer little more other than, we have introduced Poppies to friends who, like us wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Kuta area

My husband and I have just returned from 8 nights at Poppies Cottages. We have been to Bali on several occassions and stayed at some very beautiful and expensive accommodation. On this occassion we decided to try the Poppies Cottagies and we were not disappointed.

A little oasis in the heart of Kuta, beautiful, well kept grounds, fantastically friendly staff and very reasonably priced. Our cottage was roomy and had everything that we needed with a good sized bathroom. It was a welcome haven to come back and relax in after being out on the manic streets of Kuta and Legian. Very peaceful and quiet, which was surprising given its location. Also just a stones throw to Kuta Beach, if that's your thing.

We would recommend Poppies Cottages to all travellers.

I had no idea what to expect of Poppies, as my sister had organised the trip for us. Little did I know, I was in for a treat!

The great experience with Poppies staff started when my Mum and I were picked up from the airport by the Poppies free airport transfer van (free if you book online direct with hotel).
Driver was lovely and a safe driver, and pointed out sights we might like to go to in Bali along the way.

Was a bit nervous as we drove further into Kuta and then down Poppies Lane - which is very narrow and full of motorbikes! But I needn't have worried, because as soon as we were inside the walls of the Poppies complex, all the noise receded, and calm prevailed. Poppies really is a little oasis of calm in a very busy part of town. Which means you have all the benefits of great shopping, restaurants, bars and attractions nearby, without any hassle. Also, because it is a really small complex (30 cottages) you don't have to contend with hundreds of other guests. I had no problem getting a pool lounge, which always seems to be an issue in bigger hotels.

Cottages were gorgeous Balinese style, and very private. Bathrooms were gorgeous. Breakfast was not included in the rate, but in our room was a door hanger, on which you can tick your breakfast preferences (yummy things like the great Bali banana pancakes) and hang on your door by 2AM, and breakfast will be served to you on your verandah at the time you specify. Was just wonderful! Cost about $6AUD per person.
Occassionally we would hear some Balinese music drifting in from the lane outside, but this was really pleasant.

The staff made it - they were very friendly, and in keeping with the relaxed, unfussy feeling of the place.
Will be going back with my partner, who unfortunately missed out this time!

We stayed for 3 nights after moving from a noisy hotel nearby. Although the hotel is located in Poppies 1, the minute you walk through the gate, the noise from the lane just seems to disappear. Our cottage was totally stunning, with a large patio area, where they supplied us with cold and hot water, coffee cups, fruit and newspapers daily (we were staying on a special getaway packag). The main room had a huge comfortbale kingsize bed, a large seating area, a dressing area, big wardrobe, electronic safe, tv and dvd, stereo/radio, and the whole room was just so beautifully decorated. The bathroom was 'WOW', open air, but with mosquitoes netting to keep the little ctritters out! We had a sunken bath/shower, a massive vanity unit, and it was just so beautifully decorated.
The hotel offers free wifi, which works perfectly, has a most amazing pool and jacuzzi area, a library/internet room, and a pool bar area. A little way along the lane is Poppies restaurant, included in our break was breakfast, which we could either take here, or have delivered to our room, we chose the latter option. We did eat at the restaurant on two occasions, the food was to die for and the service was impeccable.
Al in all Poppies is a wonderfully romantic place to stay, and well worth a visit, we have already booked a further 4 nights in October!!
