“They serve domestic tourists differently”
Reviewed 23 January 2011

We rented 6 rooms, 2 rooms with extra bed. Bathroom in the room I live smells bad, when I give information to the receptionist's response was beyond expectations, they only bring insect spray, saying that the possibility of odor coming from the septic tank is full. Rooms occupied by my cousin had flooded, possibly from the fridge, but once again they gave negative response. Because we take a tour package that has been paid advance we were forced to succumb to stay there.

Restaurant staff was disappointing, they served us with no friendly, but the funny thing is they treat foreigners with very friendly and full of smiles.

3 days we spent at the hotel without a collar hospitality of the staff of the restaurant and forced to watch how they have great respect for foreign tourists and domestic tourists are treated the exact opposite.

We stayed here for our first night in Bali..It is located around 20-minute's drive from the airport.

There are many shops within walking distance from the hotel. Bars and restaurants are also available and they are 10 min away from the beach.

Our room is simple with air conditioner, however the cleanliness of the bathroom is not well-maintained. There are residues of toothpaste on the sink and mirror, and the residues of soap or shampoo around the shower area when we arrived.

The breakfast was good and staffs were friendly, especially the driver who picked us up at the airport. he provided us with a lot of information regarding the area we stayed. The hotel provides free airport pickup, which is a bonus.

We stayed for 10 nights in Bali and although we knew the hotel was budget we still expected cleanliness, and the majority of it was, the pool sparkled, the beds were fine, though covers looked a little unclean..the biggest let down was the bathroom, the mould was dreadfull and the bathmat and towels were supposed to be white but were brown. In saying all this the people were just terrific and very accomodating.Would I stay again? maybe? not sure. Must go to Swish bar & Restuarant though which is just off Melasti..Darren owns it and he has a beautiful staff, very clean & lots of laughs!

It's fairly pricey for a budget traveller but it's a nice room with decent furniture, (a tired looking) ensuite bathroom and breakfast included.
The staff were friendly and helped me with a travel booking and they do free airport pickup, which is a bonus.
The hotel is well located in Legian but is just off the main road making it nice and quiet at night.

We booked a family room for 4, and added another extra bed to sleep 5. Total price is USD66 with free breakfast which is quite reasonable as the room is big and clean. The only flaw of the room would be the air-conditioner which is not so cooling and the blanket which is not so comfortable. The location is good, located at the happening area of Kuta, but not too noisy. Restaurants, shopping places, Kuta beach are all nearby. Overall, recommended for a short stay!

We stayed at Bali Sorgawi for 10 nights in August & September 2010, we booked 2 rooms as were travelling with sister & brother in law.

We had rooms 1210 & 1211, although we didnt have a bathtub as we were supposed to we didnt mind too much as room 1211 was in a good location at the end of a block on the 2nd storey and it also had a back entrance which lead out onto a second balcony. From this balcony there were stairs leading down to the pool area and the reception area, and also another flight of stairs leading up to the roof where you could sit and enjoy the view while having a few drinks.

Our room was spacious, we had great airconditioning which was a new unit and cooled the room down quickly. A large fridge which was new and which fit quite a lot of drinks in it. Queen size bed, bedside tables and lamps. Large double wardrobe, a double seat with storage, a single wooden seat, wooden sideboard with drawers and large mirror.
Tv with Indonesian TV. telephone, kettle with tea & coffee. Both the front and back doors had good qaulity locks on them.

Pool was nice and clean & cool. The pool itself if not huge but is big enough. There are 4 sun lounges around the outside. The pool area was never busy and quite often we had the pool to ourselves.

Small gym room with various weights & machines.

Internet room, they charge 15,000 rupiah for 1 hours internet use which is just under $2 Aus.

Breakfast menu was not huge but what they did have was nice. Most days we had mi goreng, nasi goreng or eggs & toast (cooked however you like) along with juice, tea or coffee and side serves of fresh fruit.
If you wanted more, for example another egg, they were happy to accommodate this at no charge.
If you werent satisfied with their breakfast choices at the hotel there is no shortage of cafes and restaurants just outside within walking distance that serve breakfasts.

We had a free pickup from the airport for all 4 of us and they only charged us 50,000 rupiah for all of us to be taken back to the airport which is just over $6 Aus. Quite reasonable considering if there was 4 of you, you would need to have 2 taxis to get back to the airport and would probably pay more.

There is quite a long driveway/laneway to get from the main road to the hotel but is lit up at night and we never felt unsafe walking back and forth.
At the end of the driveway there is loads of shops, markets, massage places, tour desks, restarants, cafes, pubs. Good money changers (one was a bank) just across the road who offered good rates with no commission. Honest and reliable. Also a couple of mini markets within a minute of hotel.

Easy to get taxis at the end of the laneway to wherever we wanted to go, or heaps of things within walking distance. Beach was about a ten minute walk.
Even though hotel is close to pubs, and nightlife you dont really hear the noise from these places or from the main road. Just the ocassional neighbouring rooster who likes to crow!

Overall, a great location to base ourselves. We stayed in Tuban on our last visit to Bali so werent really sure what to expect from Legian but we were very happy with it and will probably stay in Legain again next time.

Bali Sorgawi is a good value for money budget hotel in a great location.
