“Troubled Ambience”

After passing by several evenings to see this street-side eatery full of customers and displaying a a Trip Advisor award, I dropped in for lunch. I chose the Asian Crunchy Salad and Won Ton Soup. I found the salad a little under-seasoned, but the soup was rich and delicious. Drinks are served in kitschy Mason jars.

The restaurant, whose decor could be described as "early modern factory", faces a 3 meter high wall, increasingly covered with graffiti. The wall helps to protect the Sheraton Hotel and block a potential beach view. The restaurant plays highly-percussionated music occasionally punctuated by the unmuffled exhausts of motorbikes passing along Jl. Poppies II. The high wall helps to amplify the motorbikes and explains why soft Sundanese gamalong background music wouldn't work.

“Delicious food”

We spied this small restaurant in a laneway from our hotel that was constantly filled with people. So we decided to try it out. We were quite surprised when we arrived, approximately 1930 that a booking was required. This spurred our curiosity and we decided to wait and find out why the restaurant was so popular.
We waited for approximately 5 minutes before a table became available. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating . Everybody in the restaurant appeared to be enjoying themselves and the meals that were being served appeared to look great. The menu selection was reasonably good serving a variety of dishes. My husband and I both ordered a mojito. From the menu I ordered a green curry and my husband cashew chicken.
The drinks tasted great. Soon after our meals arrived, noting the food delivery time was within a reasonable period of time. My green curry was amazing. Every mouthful was full of flavour, a fairly even blend of spices, not too spicy and not too little. I was quite surprised that the dish actually tasted as good probably better than a well know restaurant in Darwin, and at a fraction of the cost. My husband claimed his dish was ok.
The service and staff were exceptional. We enjoyed it so much we had lunch there the next day.

“Best in Kuta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

We had a fantastic meal at Fat Chow. Contempory Asian food at super cheap prices. A funky little space and well worth the deviation off the main tourist path. Excellent, friendly service well deserved of its rating. We went back again but they were fully booked out with a queue of about 12 people so if you can book, do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to even the fussiest gourmet!

“Good spot for lunch. ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

We come here for lunch and was not disappointed. It's a small place just off the beach walk shopping centre, so gets pretty busy. The best dish we had was the triple cooked chicken wings. They also make a pretty decent fruit juices. Overall a very good spot for a quick bite.
