We stayed there 2 nights when we arrived in bali, in a standard room. Room was big, with balcony, bath tub, air-con and tv. Very Nice. Si close to the crazy street and thé beach (only 2 minutes walk) and so quiet ! Perfect when you need to relax after 20 hours of plane ! Nice swimming pool and Nice garden and friendly staff. We might go back there before leaving bali !

My 2nd stay at this little gem.

I chose to stay in a standard room and was pretty impressed.. large enough for 2 girls with alot of stuff, king single beds and large bathroom, balcony was good and service was great.. rooms were always cleaned to perfection. It was impressive.

The only annoying thing was the loudness of the air conditioner and fridge and of course the surrounding night life can get a little noisy.. but what do you expect when you stay in the middle of Kuta.

I love this hotel.. Friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and in the middle of
Poppies :)

Will be back for sure (but will bring my own pillow cause there's are rock hard) :)

we have stayed numerous times at this lovely little paradise set amongst the hustle and bustle of Poppies lane 1 only a stones throw from the beach. there are very few places to stay in Bali where you see constant improvements not constant degradation. ell Kuta Puri is one that bucks the trend and has done for many years. We stayed last year as well and this year they have introduced a small pavilion near the reception where a small Balinese musical group play hauntingly beautiful classical Hindu music.KP is exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The staff and I mean all not just reception are super friendly. The flowers placed on the bed and around the room is a lovely thoughtful touch.Breakfast is held in the traditional atap roofed pavilion and it is perfect. The old dutch colonial furniture and lamps are for us an absolute delight. The omelettes are cooked with a smile and are not oily as can be the case in even the flashiest of hotels. There are now two pools at KP and that means that if you like you can set up away from the littlies that may be playing in the end of the original pool.Mind you we love to see them so happy. There are often Indonesians staying at KP and for us that is an extra nice thing as we can tryout some Bahasa and talk to the children. They are always fun , polite and love to hear you try your Bahasa . we stayed and usually do in the standard rooms that are upstairs overlooking the beautiful well established traditional Balinese gardens with squirrels rung and leaping from tree to palm, birds twittering and butterflies taking nectar from the many varieties of ginger and other flowers. he spa is reasonably priced and the staff are very nice and very proficient. You must see the lovely flower pool arrangement that they do every day in the pot outside.Special! I am dying to try the reflexology next time .You need to book as they get busy.
The reception staff are exceptional. Their language skills are tremendous and they know everything about the place. we have always found them very friendly and helpful.
another aspect of KP is that the manager positively encourages feedback so that the hotel can continually improve. his is not the norm in Bali. he is a lovely man as well. WiFi ..yep no worries they give you three hour sessions a day and reception is fine.
Cost.. Well you always have to negotiate your rate BUT if you are happy as we are with standard rooms upstairs (1 level only) then KP is the cheapest and in our opinion the best value for money in Kuta bar none. now don' t forget the best things in life are free and the sunset walk on kuta beach or a sit and a beer as the sun sets is not to be missed. the people watching is fantastic.
KP has a very competent duet playing during the week at the restaurant and prices for food and drink are very reasonable. Unless you are a yuppie fusspot this place is great for all and especially families. Do yourself a favour!

Room Tip: They have bungalows that look great , delux downstairs and standard upstairs.Standard does us fine...

Overall this place is really good, but it have some issues.
I`m a bit surprised that its ranked as high as 15 of 158.
In for example Thailand this property had NEVER got a ranking that high. But i guess the standard for Indonesia and Thailand is not the same. So i`ll take that in mind.

Lets start with the rooms:
We tried both the "standard bungalow" and the "Balinise luxary bungalow".
Standard bungalow was cramped, bathroom outdated and with a stoneblock of a tv with poor picture quality. AC was good in this bungalow. Price fair.

Balinese Luxary bungalow was much better and much more expensive as well. Stayed 2 weeks in this one. Bigger, newer, flatscreen tv with nice pictures, nice bathroom and and a poor working AC. Nicer furnitures both inside and on the outside.
Still no Halleluja feeling, but much better than the standard bungalow.
Strating to get pricy in this bungalow category, but still an ok deal i guess.

What really is nice with this little resort is the location.
One block from Kuta beach and smack in Poppies Lane 1.
Very central for Kuta, thats for sure.

Everyone from management to housekeeping was very nice.
Professional, polite and always smiling. Most of them also speak ok english.
They really wanted you to have a nice stay here, and i felt they ment it.

Pool area:
Fantastic. 2 nice pools with a pool bar where all newcomers to the resort bathing and got drunk with the "its the first day in the vacation" setting. Hehe, not really child friendly.
But it seems like families with children used the other pool, where there also were a child section in one end of the pool. So it kind of worked good anyway,
Pools were nice and clean all time and plenty of sunchairs.

Breakfast, bar and restaurant:
Breakfast was OK. You had an egg station, and you had 2-3 more side small warm dishes.
They changed the side dishes every day to other things, it worked for us.
Bread, fruit, juices, coffee and so on. Not a Hilton breakfast, but it was ok.

Alcohol is general expensive at Bali. Wine prices are horrible, even in a Norwegian eye.
But Kuta Puri have priced the alcohol and softdrinks fair. It does not mean the drinks are cheap at the hotel. But taken in mind the Kuta price level, the hotel prices for drinks are moderate. Food at restaurant are priced just in the middle as other restaurants in Kuta, and the food quality is good.

A few issues:
Wireless. They use the stone-age concept with login and you get 1 hour, no matter if you are connected or not. Every bungalow get 3 hours a day. and they were strict about it.
The line was also very unstable with periods of total downtime. And when it worked it was dead slow. Not an acceptable solution in 2013 for a modern family with iphones, pads and so on.
Also a bit strange that several places around the hotel provided free wifi 24/7 for everyone. For example McDonald, KFC and so on. You could actually connect to one of them when sitting at some spesific tables in the Kuta Puri restaurant.
So my advice is to throw the existing Wifi solution in the trash, upgrade the line to something with acceptable speed and stability and cut the login 1 hour crap.

Credit card fee:
Not legal in Europe. Have seen this before in Asia, specially on smaller places.
They will charge you 3 % on the top of the bill when you pay for the room.
In our case we paid 22 000 000 rupies. ( around 2300 US dollars )
On top they added 3 % ( around 70 US dollars ) in Mastercard/VIsa fee if you prefer settle up the bill with card. Paying 70 US dollar in a fee just to set up my bill is not acceptable, whatsoever.
Even worse is that i did not had much chice either. The ATM machines had a maximum limit for 2 000 000 rupies. Means i had to do 11 transations after each other just to pay the hotel :-)
Of course not an option, so in must cases you are forced to pay with mastercard or Visa, and then forced to pay the 3 % on top.
DONT !!!! put a 3 % fee on top of a monster bill ( in Indonesian eyes ) , just to pay the bill.
Instead hide an add-on in the room rate or take the money somewhere else.

A little tip at the end regarding the airport:

Its stone-age, with stone age systems.
You will have to pay 25 US dollars when you arrive at the aiport, its some kind of Visa fee.
Here they accepted all credit cards without any fees ( good !!! )

BUT, when you leave they will charge you again with a "leaving-tax". Hahahahahahahaha.
Its 150 000 rupies ( around 16 US dollar ) each. And they do NOT accept creditcards of any kind. Just hard cash. This leaving fee is mentioned nowhere when you checkin, security or nowhere else at the airport.
And the collecting of the fee is AFTER security. And of course no ATM`s inside this area.
So i had to get totally out of the airport, find myself and ATM and through security again to pay the money for leaving Bali.
I tried to ask what the logic was to accept card when you arrive, but not when you leaved.
But they did not spoke understandable english, so i gave up.
All in all one of the most chaotic airports we have ever seen in our whole lifes.
So be prepared.

Room Tip: Go for the "Balinese Luxary bungalow".

We stayed here 20 years ago when it was just a couple of bungalows in what looked like a cow paddock. Now the gardens are spectacular & the rooms are all you could want for a true 'right in the guts of Kuta' experience. Nice pools, friendly efficient service & virtually across the road from Kuta beach. One block from Kuta Square. Stayed here the last two years in a row & would definitely choose to continue staying here for both location & value for money.
