“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2013

Good location, very close to the beach. In crowded and noisy Kuta is this a relaxing place. Bungalows in a beautiful garden with nice pool. Breakfast as buffet, nothing to complain about.
We had a quite basic room, bathroom needs some renovation.
Kuta, aside from this accommodation, not for us. Too noisy and the places to eat are too much adjusted for tourists. We travelled around Bali and ate at the Warungs, very good authentic food and a lot cheaper than the fancy places.

When all is said and done, the fact that you get what you pay for is important. And meeting expectations on the overall is even more important.

The staff of Kuta Puri are competent if not exemplary, but you're not paying four or five-star rates.

This resort is very popular with the Oceana crowd who seem to have made their presence known via the parroting by the locals who loiter on the Kuta streets & alleyways hawking their cheap souvenirs via "G'day, mate!" or "Hey, boss!"

Even more, my wife and I found more Aussie families then one could shake a barbie at, most of whom had not-so-travel-sized jars of Vegemite at breakfast. Speaking of which, the buffet was excellent and was all-in on eggs etc. There were issues with the Jura espresso machines but about a thousand Starbucks are nearby.

The bungalow was clean and aside from a minor issue with the aircon, very comfortable. The flat-screen TV was on a swivel for viewing in the lounge area and in bed.

The bathroom, a toilet, sink, & tub/shower was on the outside of the unit with two smallish doors between them.

Quaint touches like a bar that could be placed over the main entryway of the unit (which locked from the outside with a padlock and key), was in a word, interesting.

The wifi, however was Atrocious. Be warned: they change the password often and without any consideration for guests.

Don't know if we'd repeat the visit but that has more to do with Kuta then the hotel.

This private hotel just off the busy Poppies 1 in Kuta is ideal for all attractions and especially the beach which is 75 yards away!!!! The food in the restaurant was good and the breakfasts were excellent. The pools are super and not packed. This is a very very relaxing place! Excellent and we will return without fail.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms/bungalows are ideal but go for one on the ground floor and off the main lane but in...

Coming from Australia, the price for a room is quite affordable, but considering what you can get for the same cost, perhaps worth looking around a bit.

Still, our stay at Kuta Puri was decent- air conditioning worked, location was good (albeit a tad loud with fireworks outside our window), and the hotel grounds are well-kept, with a lovely pool area and an onsite spa. Front desk staff were helpful, and breakfast was fine.

However, wi-fi was slow and spotty, and I was bitten by mosquitos despite keeping the doors and windows closed throughout the night. The beds (my husband and I were given two twins) were average quality.

As others have said, it's not a bad place to stay-- it's got everything you need and is well-situated, but better values can be found.

I feel I must warn my fellow travellers about our very recent stay at the Kuta Puri Bungalows in Poppies 1. This is not our first stay however it will be our last. We are a family of 5 - 2 adults, 4 children. We stayed for 5 nights in the new 2 bedroom Family Rooms at the back of the hotel before moving onto other accommodation. One thing that struck me initially was the amount of daytime flying mosquitos there were around our room - I had to keep spraying the kids like crazy and always shutting the door. Needless to say, there was a new dark cave-like water feature with water that runs only for a few hours every day. After about 3-4 days, we started getting ill - flu like symptoms, body aches, lethargy, chest tightness & cough. I didn't think much of it at first, however our condition deteriorated. We moved onto our next accommodation & within the next couple of days myself and 2 of my children ended up in hospital for 5 days with dengue fever and pneumonia! We had only been bitten a couple of times at the Kuta Puri but it was enough. Another son also had dengue but he didn't need to be admitted. I have since found out the species of mosquito that carries the virus likes to bite during the day and there were loads of those in and around our room. Be careful fellow travellers, I would hate another family to go through what we experienced - it totally wrecked our holiday.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the family room s at the back until they attend to mosquito infestation near water fe...

Generally I would say that the Kuta Bungalows is good value for money. You're not getting a swanky new room with all the technology trimmings that you'd see at W Retreat, you are getting a traditional Balinese room. The bathroom is not flash, but it's clean. The gardens are beautiful.

The location is right in the middle of it all, there is shops, bars, and restaurants every ten paces. There is no need to bring all your own extras; if the hotel doesn't provide something, you can walk across the road and get it from the shop cheaper than at home. Unfortunately, this active location means there is a lot of people and lots of traffic.

The breakfast was simple, but nice. I enjoyed a freshly made omelette every day which were very tasty.

Overall I'd recommend this hotel to people who like the old style Bali of beautiful gardens and simple lodgings and who want to stay in a busy area.

The only reason that I am not giving this hotel 5 stars is because there was construction going on at the lobby everyday, which really disrupted the serenity of the hotel. Without this, I'd say it was a five star rating hotel for the price.

I have stayed at Kuta Puri 3 times now and find the consistency of standard in everything something I enjoy. Breakfast is basic but fine, Meals and drinks at fair prices. I like the location at the end of Poppies one and across from the beach. Not 5 star but not 5 star price so did not expect it to be. Standard Room is great. Be back to Kuta Puri next year

Room Tip: Rooms far enough back from road to stop noise.
