“not that scary we know from other advisor”
Reviewed 28 June 2011

after book the hotel, only search the advisor's advice. i have almost like to give up ..already standby hotel list. anytime can find another hotel.
finally we have arrive the hotel, served by a small glass of welcome drinks, staff are freindly.. and not lose than 5 start hotel, if compare to other country's 3 star hotel, this is more advance.
the door still using old type lock, this is the tranditional, what they told me..^^, since this is the way thier like to present with bali style..i can accept this^^
room is clean, big bed, only tower is a bit old.. so we didn't use. we have our standby.
a small freeze & with cool drinks, average price rp10 to rp18 for soft drinks and beer.
breakfast is simple.. served simple western & trandition bali breakfast, coffee is good! bali coffee..^^
the road is really narrow, only one car can go. but bali people are helpful, if really facing the problem in give way.. sure will someone help u^^
for those people used to stay in 3star hotel, all here is not a problem, if you like to enjoy a high class hotel with good facility, then maybe not your choice^^
the renovate is still going. but not effect for those torist will leave hotel in earlier morning and back on late evening like us.
only we been effect by Kuta trafic. better if walk or motorbike

Friendly, helpful staff and a comfortable bed, but that's all. It is a good 15 minute walk to the lively bar and disco area, but only 5 minutes from the (less than desirable) Kuta beach and shopping mall. This hotel has just started a very badly needed renovation program, with work commencing really early each day! It is really tired and outdated, both in facilities and quality of rooms. Previously reported poor breakfasts have improved slightly, but only slightly. At the end of the day if you are on a budget give it a go because it is tolerable but, if you can afford a little more, shop around and get somewhere else.

Room Tip: Do not pay extra for the poolside rooms or suites.

For that kind of price, there isn't much to complain. In general, the hotel service was good (check in and check out, staff attention to details). Nice pool which I didn't get the time to indulge in. Food at the restaurant wasn't perfect, but who needs to eat in when there are loads of restaurants along the main streets. It is not located right on the main street but a pleasant walk along the narrow road, gets you to the main street - Kartika Plaza. Near to the airport, less than 15 minutes drive (with some traffic jam).

I have stayed in many hotels and have to say that this would have to be the poorest and worst ever. Apart from all the dramas of the mix up in our room reservation, the room are absolutely horrific. All rooms have mouldy bathrooms where you have to shower in thongs, linen is all stained, towels are very old and tired. We had to change rooms 3 times as they smelt or the bathroom flooded or the toilet didn't work. One of my kids was given a mattress to sleep on as the couldn't get a third bed in the room as we had booked and confirmed twice with hotel and the company we booked through. The breakfast is very limited. No real restaurant or bar at hotel. There are no massage or other facilities either. It is located in an alley way that smells when you walk through. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff, they are great and try their best to help with the limited things they have. Would never recommend this hotel to my worst enemy or ever consider staying there again. Yes, it is a budget hotel, and you get what you pay for, but this was ridiculous. Hotels.com, whom we booked through didn't want to help with our problems either, so would not recommend booking through them either.

Check-in:
Smooth and fast. Room type was as per reservation.
While waiting to be checked-in & the room key, we were served with a welcome drink by one of their friendly hotel staffs.

Room:
While walking to our room we were greeted by the nice pool view. Upon reaching our room I must say this is the uniquely 1st hotel I've ever been to which uses padlock to lock the room from the outside, and uses a piece of wood to lock from the inside (pictures available). The room was equipped with TV (indonesian channels only) but the toilet does not look too clean & pleasant. The antique look of the closet creates a lil bit of eerie feeling to me since I am not an antique lover. But if you have budget constraints & you don't intend to spend a lot of time in the room (and toilet) then you may consider this hotel. You may not see any bath towels or hairdryer in the room, you may call their room service and ask for one.

Location:
This hotel is about 5 mins walk from Discovery Plaza (Centro). The entry (Gang Puspa Ayu I) is basically opposite Discovery Plaza (Centro). Do be careful while walking along this lane as the lane is narrow and it is pretty quiet especially at night. It takes about 15 - 20 mins walk to Kuta Art Market, Matahari and Hard Rock Cafe. Those on shopping trip or relaxation may want to stay nearer to the town area.

Food:
Our room rate was inclusive of buffet breakfast. The buffet selections was not bad (around 3-4 dishes served and toast bread). There was no pork in Nathan Hotel room service menu but I couldn't guarantee that the food is Halal. For Muslim customers they can opt for the toast bread for breakfast. You may not find Halal food stalls around Nathan Hotel but the nearest is the Nasi Padang (Halal) behind Matahari Shopping Centre (not far from the entrance to the new Air Asia's Tune Hotel). They serve delicious nasi padang here as early as 9 am and the price was reasonable.

Tips:
Bring an international plug (they use 2-pins) & some bedroom slippers.
